Sometimes I just want to drive, but no he is the man. I guess its better than him being a nerves wreck. Are him making me one.

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 2:52:50 PM | | I think it is a bit of a turn off if a guy doesn't drive. I can drive myself anywhere I need to go and don't even mind driving if going out on a date but, the guy not driving, sure makes access in a relationship very difficult. | |
|
| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 2:56:13 PM | Unless the guy is really, really young...I would wonder why he doesn't have a driver's license. (and I would wonder why I am hanging out with him) LOL
If he lost it due to drunk driving or whatever else you can lose it for, I would have to question how responsible he is.
I don't mind driving now and then but wouldn't want to always be the designated driver.
It would be weird to me. I don't know any guys who don't drive.
|
| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 3:45:40 PM | | it's not a turnoff there's always other ways of travelling like public transit but if it's really long distance then there'd be a problem but other than that there's always ways of working around it. | |
|
| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 3:51:40 PM | | I don't drive. I had a couple bad accidents in the past and decided driving is not my thing. Tho, I am considering on getting a car again, but it is likely I wont. Honestly, I think only a very shallow girl would give value to something like driving. | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 3:57:22 PM | OMG! am shocked!
Yes i have a driving license..yes I used to have a car.. I do not drive anymore by choice!
1) I live in Montreal plateau...everything is at the corner! so you have to be one lazy bum to need a car.
2) You cannot park anywhere!
3) Metro system here is the BEST in the world.
4) When I go out..and take more then 2 beers..am not supposed to drive anyway! so i take a cab!
5) If I want to go out of the city for the week-end..I rent a car according to my activity or weather!
6) You have to be pretty lame to judge someone by "if " he have a car or "what type" of car he drives.

Seriously, when I see women making threads like this I consider becoming gay.
This shows how much confidence you have. Be more confident man.
Haha, guys who don't drive. Is it okay if guys drive a girlfriend's car instead cuz their own car is busted?
|
| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 4:07:06 PM | are you joking?!!
1. I do not judge someone by what type of car they drive - that would make me shallow
2. I do not judge someone who doesnt own a car!!!
I'm simply saying it is a turn off to me when a guy will not go get a liscene...this does not mean he needs a car?

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 4:10:09 PM | | i wont lie, its a turn off if a guy doesnt have a licence. makes me wonder why, and makes access to him far more difficult. also, it reminds me of being in high school, which isnt a pleasant thought (even though i actually loved high school, i have no desire to go back) | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 4:11:29 PM | Most of the guys I've dated havent been able to drive, which, naturally, meant that I had to pick them up and all that jazz if we wanted to go out somewhere.
It's a pain in the arze, I tell you, especially if you have to shell out for the gas money all on your own.

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 4:23:16 PM | Notice the only folks flaming this thread are the ones who said they don't drive? Funny.
I'm sorry...but I am not into finding a guy who can't drive. Why? Because. Nuff said.
|
| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 4:26:36 PM | | I drive about an hour each way to work, then probably 4 or 5 more in the course of the week just getting here to there. I don't mind driving but unless it's heading to somewhere fun I just can't get excited about it anymore. So let's compromise...... I'll pick you up and you drive? Deal? | |
|
| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 4:29:13 PM | oh oh ! Am sorry..I guess I read a bit to fast. My sincere appologies if I offended you. In that case, yes! i agree with you...having at least the license is a must, both for freedom and in case of emergency. | |
|
| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 4:32:51 PM | I have have too many different license. car , bike, shofer and with little add ons. I like the convience of being able drive when I need it. But when it comes to starting a relationship it really depends. if there is a distance than ya being able to drive would be a big thing. but whatever one that drives, it shouldent really matter. But if your both living in the city and you have other access to bus, taxi, walking/biking distance than why is not driving be a turn off? what about if you have your license but no car do you ladies think that is a turn off and why? Is driving a Bike a turn on? Like my driving instructor told me to be able to drive is not a right but a privilege. I i honestly don't want any guy or girl on the road that is a danger to everyone. so the hole i like to think of it not as a turn on or off but as know that the relationship well work if there is a distance. But there are women that love to be drivin around and show off. even some turn off if you don't drive a type of car. those are the hoochies for ya. lol thats my 2 cents. | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 4:40:32 PM | reminds me of that Northern Pikes song, "She said, take me home, that won't be no fuss. I said sure, you got some change for the bus" But seriously, I too was in a very bad car accident a long time ago and I was a passenger. The only thing worse than being in a life threatening situation is a being in a life threatening situation because of somebody else's fault (drunk driver). But it didn't deter me from driving, just the opposite, I was a paranoid passenger for awhile and insisted I drive. It was almost 20 years ago though and I have no problems being a passenger now. I'm a very, very defensive driver too. I live in the city (Calgary) and all essentials, including work, are within walking distance. But, I still need wheels to get around to the places too far to walk and to carry my gear. Not to mention, I don't know how I could ask a girl out on a date and not drive. | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 4:56:01 PM | I read this thread 3 times before i realised it wasn't a joke!!! I don't get it...it's just a car or a licence..what's the big deal?????? Surely the person is more important??? Maybe i have a lot to learn still. | |
|
| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 5:00:10 PM | I would assume the big deal is that if a person can't come over because of restrictions like that it'd be rather tough to date.
For instance..you are sick...and all you want is to be held by your guy..only he can't come over and hold you because the buses stopped running about an hour ago bla bla bla.
Obviously if you live in a large city where most folks travel by bus and cab this does not matter but I'm in a small area...mostly country...and of course you need to drive. I have no intention of recreating Driving Miss Daisy.

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 5:07:47 PM | There is absolutely nothing wrong with no car ...license is a bit wierd not having one but that does not make the man....What is wrong with meeting somewhere and having a nice walk long talk...window shopping and perhaps later find out why not the license...perhaps it could have been a previous accident.....maybe something totally different through lack of being lazy in getting one... who knows....I would never NOT date someone because of no licence.... maybe that's just me..... | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 5:17:58 PM | | Hey i wasn't trying to judge anyone or anything so hope i didn't offend. yes i can totally understand the travel restrictions..i don't drive and have never dated a guy who has either...my family had no car growing up..lots of people i know don't....i choose not to and as a consequence yes sometimes i suffer..but it's my choice. The way i was brought up was if you haven't got it you do without...and if i was sick and wanted my guy who was miles away and transportless then it' d be tough luck...but i'd cope. What i couldn't believe was the fact this was seen as a 'turn off'. | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 3/4/2006 5:39:42 PM | Well I'm 38, have had a vehicle and have been driving since I was 16. I date guys in the age range of 32-43. I can't even imagine dating a guy in this age group who doesn't drive/doesn't have a vehicle/doesn't have a license. I could maybe see it if I lived in NYC - but this aint NYC. I love the sense of freedom of being able to drive - to jump in my vehicle whenever I want and go where I want - from a drive in the country, to checking out some local tourist trap, to going to get my groceries. I am the kind of person who gets antsy when my vehicle's at the dealership for a morning or afternoon getting a major tune-up! :-)
I've come across a few guys in my age group who didn't drive/had no license or vehicle - most had lost their license due to impaired driving (wow, that's impressive - selfishly putting the lives of innocent motorists at risk for lifelong impairment or something a little more permanent like death).........or they were such reckless drivers that they amassed too many demerit points and their license was suspended........or those who were such careless, reckless horrible drivers that they'd been in so many accidents that they couldn't afford car insurance............I've met a few who were freeloaders who found it neat-o to bum rides off of people and then brag about how much they saved on gas, insurance, car payments.
I don't mind taking turns picking up a guy I'm dating, but I'm not a taxi or a chauffeur.
I think it goes without saying that it's a turn-off that a guy, at least in my age group, doesn't/can't drive.
