Propose...to him???Page 1 of 3    (1, 2, 3)
Just out of curiosity:

Ladies, would you do it?
Men, what would you think if the woman you loved asked you to marry her?
What would be a good engagement symbol for a man, a ring, or something else?
How would a man like to be proposed to?

Know 2 women that have done it and the men accepted. However they have been talking marriage for awhile. Don't know anyone who just pops the question out of the air these days without both talking about it.

Also majority of men I know that propose to their women, the women give them an engagement thing. Mostly a ring, they wear on the wedding finger than switch it to the other hand when the wedding band gets on.

I wouldn't mind getting proposed to, saves me getting the sweaty palms. lol

LOL. Why a bad idea?
I am no where near going to do it, I was just sitting here when I should be working, and pondering it.
I am torn, if a soman wants to show she is commited, why not?
At the same time, maybe it's a little old fashioned of me, but I think it's a mans thing???
That didn't come out right, so flame away if you must...LOL

nooooooooo. I never really had a proper proposal, it was sort of like..."heres your ring, let me know what date you pick" That should have been a red flag right there...

I want to be proposed to, maybe I'm old fashioned but I'd like to think he put SOME thought into it!

Propose...to him???

OK, Gazzoo, I am all in favor of it!

Set the whole thing up, pull out the ring, and ask for his hand.

Very romantic.

Do not be swayed by the negativistic naysayers. I think your proposal would be a portentious omen.

Good luck.

Thanks Magickman. It's not happening anytime soon, on either of our parts. I was just thinking on it and thought it may be kind of neat. Thought I would ask you guys what you thought on the subject.

Tee,

I did the proposal in front of all of her girlfriends and her sister, with them filming it.

Eek!

I actually did get nervous.

I don't see anything wrong with it at all as long as the talk about marriage has happened. Think it would be a good change.

I wouldn't be offended or feel like I was cheated out of the time honored tradition, it would actually probably flatter the living shit out of me and let me know how she truly feels. Although if she does, she don't get a ring..

common,

Nah. It was her first formal dinner party, and we all collaborated to fake her into believing that I had failed to find a ring, and oh well, maybe after new years, etc :)

She took it so well, I thought she secretly knew. NOPE! She was completely fooled. :)

I was really surprised at how happy she was.

Cool night.

Hey, I'd do it. When and if I get proposed to someday a ring and all of that mumbo jumbo isn't something I'd have to have, so I think it would be funny to get on my knees (ok get your minds out of the gutter), pop the question, and put one of those vending machine 25 cent rings on his finger or something.

Would it have to be a ring though Since we are talking untraditionally anyway, what other symbols could there be??? Would a guy being proposed to want a ring, or something else?

Oh yea, you had better be taking us to a nice restrauant also before doing this. None of this Drive though that we would stoop to doing. Oh ya, flowers would be nice and dress nice not the ratty jeans we'd be wearing..

common,

A mcguffin is a device used in movie where every character is after something that is for example in a briefcase, and never in the film is the thing in the briefcase revealed.

A mcguffin is just nothing. A thing to make you very curious.

The briefcase in pulp fiction is a mcguffin.
