I'm sorry, but I have a very different opinion. It's a strong opinion, because I thought the same thing when I moved to the South. But, instead, it seems that the majority of women down here, young and old, don't know how to cook anything if there aren't instructions on the box. So, where are these girls that know how to cook? Perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong place.. | |

we need to ask the question what age is he (fsckme)checking into cause it is true the young southern girls nowadays really dont know much about cooking or at least the ones I have chatted with say they have no time for learning how to cook they didnt stick around near the kitchen to learn...
I have 2 teenage boys and I made sure they know how to cook and do all the things they need to survive... doing laundry ..(correctly I might add) I taught them how to clean for themselves .... so I m ade sure they can do for themselves .

Posted: 5/22/2006 8:00:51 PM | Well creamy, the young women I know live in the country and not the city so I guess they have a little more time on their hands to learn the good old southern ways. However, I do have a couple of young friends who are always amazed at my "gravy".. but then not everyone can make good gravy. I made some today and fed 3 men at my house. This was some GOOD gravy, the "soping" kind. I know men who can cook but for some reason when I'm around they forget how. Growing up I didn't do it because I had a grandma who cooked and then my aunt cooked. I must have watched them enough cause I got it down pretty dang good.
Southern gals ain't scared to get dirty most of the time. Or I should say.. southern country gals, I love playing in the dirt. I don't mind baiting my own hook or cleaning fish. But I can be a southern lady when needed or a country tom boy just take your pick. | |

But NOTHING and I mean NOTHING can EVER beat my mother's Chicken Soup. Pure Jewish Penicillin for the soul it was. Now...I can make chicken soup too.BUT HEY MOM. .if you are looking down on me...I swear it is NOT as good as yours, so next time I am out walking Sheba dont you go letting it rain on me (unless it is raining Chicken soup that is) Oh yummy mummy. | |

Dixie Girl all the way here. fried chicken, some butter beans, corn, and biscuts....the perfect meal that i can cook. plus the bedroom is always good with a southern woman. it gets really hot down here and we wear little clothing. | |
