i have been shot down a couple times by women who love their alcohol too much, granted i dont drink and thats one thing that we probably couldnt share...(the drunk sex thing) but i do love to go out for a good time, and am not opposed to my date getting drunk, but it seems that once a woman finds out that i dont drink but a glass of wine twice a year, they seemingly find doubt in me... why is that???????????? | |

Personally, that would make me think twice because I would wonder how much fun it would be to go out to a bar with someone who was going to remain completely sober. I like to go out on the weekends and it's not that I "love my alcohol too much" it's more that I don't see starting a relationship with someone in which I would have to immediately curb doing something that I enjoy. | |

Maybe they suspct your a recovering alcoholic. MOst people that booze it up on weekends or every night prefers the people they hang out with do the same. Then their boorish behaviour doesn't seem out of place.

A lot of us do not prefer the alcoholic type of drink, and I am one of them. I can have one or two in a social situation, but prefer not to. Maybe also these women do not feel comfortable enough with themselves without that alcohol boost? Seems like you need a confident woman, but one confident enough to let you take the reins, at least when ordering dinner A good looker like you should not have any trouble finding one who doesn't drink-at least to excess. Keep your head up, she is out there, and never settle! | |

I drink a few classes of wine maybe every six months. I just don't like the taste of alcohol that much and neither I don't like to get drunk. | |

Not all women shy away from men who do not drink.
I do not have a problem with men who drink as long as its not to the point that you are hammered every night.

I live in rural North Carolina. The sidewalks roll up a 8 pm, even on the weekends. There's no bowling alley, the movie theater plays four movies at a time so if you've seen them you're SOL. There is no other night time activity besides going to a bar. If you don't want to be plopped in front of the tv by 8:30 pm, you go to a bar. So like I said, I go out on the weekends. I hate sitting at home on a Friday or Saturday night. I wouldn't want to date a guy that didn't enjoy going out to a bar on the weekends because our lifestyles wouldn't be compatible. Has nothing to do with being a lush or a "boor". Hope this helps in understanding why some women don't respond favorably to your preference. | |

here and again, but only to be social. But I don't run from it.
Why don't you have a Cesar or like a girl drink?
i will go to a bar with my friends at any point, even if its just to bee a designated driver, my friends and loved ones lives are too important to me and i would rather spend my night driving my billegerant friends home than attend another funeral

I've often shared your pain brother, but not to worry, like other people have said, you just haven't found your match then and should keep looking with an open mind.
I never much cared for alcohol, when I turned 18 I found some salvation in it as a temporary confidence booster and that I seemed more fun when I was tipsy. Fortunately my body never allowed me to take it further than that because I'm a booze lightweight and the after-effects destroy me the next day, so I toned it down shortly after that age. I realized that all alcohol did for me was break down some inhibitions to aspects of my personality that had always been there, so I embarked upon a summer of fun to discover those qualities sans-alcohol and now have all the confidence I need and then some 
I don't mind a social drink on special occasions, but all of my physical training (5 times a week, 10 hours total) leaves little room for dehydrants like booze. My friends used to find it odd at first, but have quickly moved past that fact since I am often the craziest one on the dance floor sober, so I have no problems fitting in at the bar with my OJ or cranberry juice. 
As for how that affects dating, the only speculation I can make is people tend to associate sophistication with the accumulation of vices (fine liquors, wine, premium cigars, rich food, etc.) I never understood that concept myself, and prefer my healthy lifestyle anyway. 
So perhaps some of your dates are social-climbers and think you lack class, and that would be their mistake and loss, you don't need them 
The funniest online date I recall was with a girl I met over martinis, then she told me about how she had recovered from thyroid cancer last year. I was sympathetic to her aim until she told me how it changed her life, which was "Since we can die from anything why not live it up today?" However her definition of "live it up" was a cigarette in one hand and a martini in the other Needless to say she decided we didn't really jive for a second date  | |

Apparently..... you are not only looking in the wrong places but picking the wrong women....
You are not taking in COMPATIBIITY and must be going by looks.
This is a bad thing to do and your just wasting time worried about how party girl has shot you down because you dont prefer that lifestyle.
Thats just crazy.
Your head is mixed up if you cannot see the irony in that and your statements.... that it bothered you to be shot down by a girl because she likes to drink a lot of alcohol and you dont. | |
