| What are your pet peeves on profiles?
Posted: 3/25/2006 3:35:13 AM | Lets see the list we can get, everyone post one or as many as you have of pet peeves you have when looking at people's profiles!!!!!!!! 
Let me get the ball rolling....
1. People who are giving you the middle finger...are you attracting people or pissing them off?
2. Improper use of grammer or incorrect spelling laced throughout the profile - I don't care if you have some errors (we are not getting graded here) but re-read your profile after editing it!

1. Pics of kids in profile. ( been done to death this topic and to each their own, but it bugs me)
2. Pics with sunglasses on indoors as stated above.
3. If you are going to use big words then at least spell them properly and make sure they are in the proper context. ( one man had education as his profession and he didn't spell Neanderthal properly) huge turnoff for me.
4. People that just waste space with emoticons.
5. People that have Prefer not to say in every single category and put ask later in comments.
And OP just to pick on you a bit...grammer is actually spelled grammar....sorry couldn't resist. | |

Posting pictures with their ex???
People who post profiles on a dating site and they are already involved, and admit it! ( and they mention in their profile that they are just here for the friends and forums ). | |

-no picture
-sunglasses (the eyes make the face)
-kids in the pic's (i would NEVER put my child's pic on..for thousands to see)
-lying about what kind of relationship they are looking for(most say ltr/dating..but two seconds into chatting and they are all about SEX..lol)..at least have the balls to put intimate encounter..

1. No pic
2. No description of themself says something like "tell you later"
3. glamour shots instead of everyday pics
4. bad grammer and spelling
5. fuzzy pics or pics taken at a distance so you can't really tell what they look like or
cartoon pics
6. profiles that read like novels with lists of requirements, they are boring to read | |

Oh wait, I have one of those, Nevermind...
Seriously, I am not going to know you from a simple profile, so just at least have a normal pic of yourself and what you are looking for (friends, date, relationship...) and that is good for me. You can have one pic of yourself having fun or something, just make sure you have some normal ones too. Just don't put yourself all out there, or I will not respond as I may get lost in the 30 emails you will get a day...
I don't see how people can sell themselves if they don't have a pic of themselves and hide. I guess I can only meet them at the parties. No more blind dates for me, too dissappointing. | |

Just because I have a boyfriend, does not mean I am not allowed to make friends (male or female), or participate in forums and events. You can never have too many friends. I have lost touch with many friends over the years and many have passed away - so I am now trying to gain a social life by making new friends - Is that wrong?????

Posted: 3/25/2006 6:40:25 AM | I agree with you Leanne ... I originally came on here just looking to hang out and make friends. Entering the single life again after 11 years was scary. Getting to know people and networking was my goal. If something came out of it later that was fine. I did meet lots of nice people but also a lot that just wanted sex. I have met some great friends, both male and female through the forums. One of those friends I am now involved with and I admit it on my profile. My profile is very honest and open about everything.
so my pet peeves:
1. half naked pics - both male and female - leave some mystery there people!
2. kids in pics - yes, done to death in the forums for months now, you can send one later if you like the person
3. bad spelling and grammar - that's what God invented dictionaries and spell check for
4. pics of everything but you -- art, cartoons, goofy sayings etc
5. dishonest postings - if you're here for sex, say so -- if you don't want a relationship, say so
6. 'prefer not to say' ... gee, is that a "Yes, I'm married" ? LOL
what I love:
1. candid pics that show your personality
2. honesty
3. informative profile that lets me know a little about you before we chat

Faker! You had me fooled for the first 2 mins I seen that picture lol (you're going to get a real nose picking picture though, you wait April 1! I got told you and I have no choice)
What peev's me out here is people that cannot type proper words for the most part. The english language is going down the tubes. When you type the word 'wif' instead of 'with', it's not cute, it's annoying. Wif is what you do when someone farts. And when someone emails you and they use words like "you're solid!" (i was told that meant hot, but that actually sounded a bit rude to me) All I picture is the person typing like that actually speaking like that in person, and it's a total turnoff. Speak and type english for crying out loud! Use the words for what they were meant, not that ghetto lingo, not cutesy wutesy words either.  | |

Posted: 3/25/2006 7:16:58 AM | The kids in pics is a biggie for me. If you ask, I'll e-mail you a pic of my daughter, but, I'm not going to post it here.
No pic at all isn't as big as the last one, but, it is annoying.
A complete lack of info. Lots of blanks/prefer not to say and all the essay stuff is ask me and I'll answer. NEXT.
Lastly, those cleavage/butt shots and then they go on about they what is inside is more important, (one profile has a female in bra and panties in a very suggestive pose and then goes on to say that very thing. Uh.. can we say hypocrite?)

Posted: 3/25/2006 1:14:46 PM | I have only recently discovered my pet peeve. Profiles that have Occassionial for smoking. I am a non-smoker and well what does that mean really?? I dare think it means different things to different people.
Do you smoke frequently but THINK you only smoke occassionally?
Do you only smoke socially but are extremely social?
Has occassional for smoking but has a pic with a cigarette in their hand.
Trying to quit but it may take awhile?
Don't get me wrong but I would prefer to meet a non-smoker but sometimes you will see someone who catches your eye, start going through there profile like what you read until....
Please, I have no issues with smokers but this is an observation for me.
