Scooter Trash

I am just a biker
I'm not much different than you
I work and provide for my family
I give to charity too
When problems rise in our nation
I am there by her side
I'm always patriotic
With my country I take great pride
But you see me in my leathers
With patches and long hair too
Please,do not fear me for I'll not harm you
We ride the rolling thunder
Yes, we love our bikes
You call us scooter trash
Yet you don't even know what we like
We ride for many reasons
We ride just for fun
When children need Christmas gifts
We do a biker run
There are hundreds of us
That ride for many miles
Just to see a sick child
And win a great big smile
We'll keep on riding our horses
Made of steel and chrome
For we are bikers
Around the country we roam
The next time that you see
A big biker bash
Stop and say hello
Cause we're really not scooter trash

Some Think Bikers are mean
Some dress in leather and others in jeans
You don't like our patches or the clothes that we wear
You hate our bandannas and hate our long hair
You don't like our scooters and our loud noisy pipes
You think we're not loyal to the stars and stripes
You don't like our patches that are worn on our vests
You think we're so different from all the rest
But the truth is, Mister, we're kind of alike
You drive a car and I ride a bike
You have no tattoos painted on your arm
But we fought side by side over in Nam
So the next time your children are running around
Enjoying their freedom and the fun that thay've found
Remember us biker and all that we do
We feed our veterans, we're red, white and blue!
We bring toys for tots and toys for a smile
By riding our bikes for miles and miles
You see, us bikers have never forgot
Our homeless veterans, and our homeless tots
We our loyal to our clubs and true to our bro's
We will always wear black from our heads to our toes
Society once said long hair was for fags
But you'll never see a biker burning a flag
Now the tattoos and leather you don't understand
Stands for free independence that us bikers demand
Our long hair and patches and bikes with loud pipes
is a tribute to our freedom, the Stars and Stripes
So before you make up your mind on just what I might be
Take a look in the mirror and what do you see?
The man that you see staring right back
is not much different from that biker in black.

Hi , I have been riding Harleys ,for about 26 years . Don't misunderstand me . I love to have fun with the beat of them . However , seems as if , some of us Harley riders , dress alittle different ! , Some of us seem to , give people the wrong idea , by the trashey way we ACT !

I have noticed a definite difference, and I am generalizing here so don't make snide comments giving examples of the contrary, between bikers in Ohio and bikers in Texas (where I have lived for most of my life). Buckeye bikers are the old school unemployed, or, dump truck driver, needs a bath, 'my old lady' talking scooter trash they are sterio typically known to be. They are lucky to be able to keep oil in their bikes fas ter than it leaks out. Texas bikers are CEOs, attorneys, articulate, and smell and dress well, therefore they can afford a new bike of their choosing, be it a custom job or a new FLHTCUI.

Now prove me wrong by NOT ignoring part of my post.

Hi all!

I understand where you are coming from and please do not take this wrong. You apparently have only met a few bikers from Ohio. And I take it they were not the cream of the crop, so you generalize that most if not all bikers from Ohio are scooter trash. Well I do not know about Texas bikers, but I know a lot of Ohio bikers. Most are cops, firemen/women, veterans, attorneys, C.E.O.’s, business owners, nurses, doctors, and yes dump truck drivers, mechanics, old school, and new school, ect, ect. I myself have been riding over 25 years now. But no matter the job, they are some of the most giving, most patriotic people I have ever met in my life!

Yes there is trash out there, but there is trash in every group of people you group together. Shame it seems that 1 bad apple spoils the whole damn orchard…

I've been riding since 1985, love to ride. I work in a doctor's office as a medical receptionist. I wear my levi's, harley shirt, chaps, leather coat and helmet. The helmet is because it is my choice. I have a closet full of dress clothes, but would rather ride with biker's than go out in a fancy restaurant and worry about how you have to act. I would go to a biker whether it be male or female and ask for help. We are a different breed of people and are there to help anyone. I am a mother, daughter, sister and aunt to my family and they love me just as much as if i didn't ride. They love it that I'm my own person. So when you see a biker on their bike, just think hey, that might be somone's mom or dad. Take care, be safe and watch the non-bikers on the road, because they won't be watching your backside. charlene

We don't ride a Harley and we don't dress trashy. Jeans and tee's with leathers for safety, and rider rated sunglasses most of the time. It is a big red Honda 1800 vtx. Helmets when we think it is necessary.

I personally am going later this summer to take the safety course so I can have my own bike to ride. Look out world.....

As a passenger, I get alot of looks from kids in vehicles. The boys usually wave without much of a problem and the little girls smile and will wave if they can. It has surprised me as to how many parents scold their children for waving at us. I've had children, mostly girls between the ages of 6 and 10 approach me in stores and parking lots and ask me about being a passenger. I try hard to answer their questions because I feel that if we don't let other people talk with us, they only have what they see on the television and in movies to go by as to the nature of the person on the bike.

My brother-in-law is a biker and I have hung with bikers for years - every one (here in Ohio) that I have met have been Doctors, Lawyers, realestate mogels, retired Ford or GM workers...etc. Don't know where you came across the ones you did - but cripe...what other generalizations do you make??? Kinda shallow - but maybe it is just the type of person you are.

This one has long hair and works for national bank. Thats a far cry from an dump truck driver. Besides I know a few dump truck drivers and they wear clean clothes and shower everyday.

Actually yes I did, and my leather jacket too. Mostly because the s/o insists on it,( not to mention the gloves, boots and eyewear every time I get on the bike). I am going to have to take that leather jacket and get a few more zippers put in it for ventilation I think....lol.

We were out yesterday as a matter of fact and stopped at a rest area on I-70 near Newark. There was a family in a van in the parking space next to us. The children, especially the youngest one, were really interested in the bike. It is funny how the kids seem to be far more accepting of bikes and the people that ride them than adults in some cases.

^^LOL Well...I guess part of it is the area you live/ride in? How you were raised? I know my grandson at two years of age, is already onto the fact that Bikers Rock! Whenever he hears or sees one, he says, "Papaw...where is Papaw?!" So he will grow up knowing bikers can be good, normal folk just like his Papaw!

Maybe it is just overprotecting our kids??

It could be just that or that people actually believe things like what the OP said in his post. They judge us all by a few.

Folks just a reminder. I had friends killed on Friday because a person in a car didn't see them supposedly and pulled out in front of them. They were double on a big Harley, had on helmets, were not in any way impaired, under the legal speed limit, and are still just as dead. All because the woman said that she didn't see them.

Please people in cars, if you are at a blind intersection, and can't get a clear los, for goodness sake lower the window and listen. Because as someone said on another site,"She might not have been able to see them, but how the hell did she miss hearing them?"

I am so sorry for your loss, SilverIon...

I will always believe that "Loud pipes save lives!!"

There is an awesome poem posted somewhere that is perfect to explain these prejuduces...do a search using "bikers" and you will find it...I think it is called, "You did not See Me?"

Thanks HarleyKat. The sad thing is that he left 3 boys without a father.

We were out earlier today on the bike and nearly got rearended by someone that wasn't paying attention, following to closely behind us. I heard the squeal of the brakes when he stomped on them.

It is just sad that people aren't more aware.

I personally think it's hilarious that anyone tries to glorify "bikers" as though they're some sort of special sub-species! They're just plain, simple everyday people who have in common ownership or interest in motorcycles. They are NOT better, nicer, more honest, more fun, more anything---just people! It gets tiring hearing how being a biker is a step up in society.

Don't get me wrong--I love powerful, noisy, dangerous machinery as much as anyone---I just don't think that automatically makes me a "better" person!

Ohio, Texas, Alaska or even Japan----it's a fricking motorcycle NOT a free pass to heaven!! LOL

JWA....Not sure what made you think we are glorifying bikers? Quite the opposite, actually...fighting against the prejudgments that people tend to make when they see anything that symbolizes "biker" to THEM.

The point was, that most ARE normal people!! LOL

If you do not understand now you never will so don't try to justify yourself with some BS off the wall generalizations... Anyone who has had the steelhorse between their legs already knows W/O saying what you do not... Seems you have issues...
Nothing plain and simple about me and mine and yes I feel I have a step up on everyone else... Here in "OHIO" we treasure our freedom(s) and our way of life...
We're brothers & sisters who share a love of the open road and lifestyle if you will...

Neat post! I aint from OHIO. But as trucker I am allowed to travel through it. As a biker, I wasnt able to. Thats alright though. I stuck my Harley into my trailer a couple years in a row, and hauled it with me to the big festivals like Sturgis and KY. That was OK with the customs officers, as long as I wasnt riding it across the border. Then it became part of my work.
I went to university. And truck driving was a decent paying wage in the 70's and early 80's.
It paid more then most business excecutives made, at the time. In fact my family doctor 'cleared' about the same as I did, after all his overhead. That aint the story any longer, but what should I do.... get married and have 2.6 children and stay home forever listening to some nagging woman the rest of my long life? NEVER!!!!!!! Thank Aliens for Harleys!

Hey Roadhammer, how come you weren't aloud to ride your bike in Ohio? I've been riding Harleys for over 35 years and I never had a problem, maybe you ride a JPS.
Anyone remember the t-shirt "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand"?
