Posted: 3/31/2006 9:32:54 PM | If ya mean going out ta meet people or going out in public places n stuff Yeah i spose thats what I have suffered from, still do in a way....I sometimes find myself not even wanting to leave the house, its my homebase, my security, my walls ive built up around me...YES!! And I still do suffer from it, ... its just as recent as last fall when I first went to my first party from HERE and met a bunch of nice people...that got me, to start beleiving that, i can overcome this problem...and people arent so bad...well some arent, ya get the odd psycho out there, but thats why I babysit the rotties every now n then...ppl leave me alone when I do that ...lol | |

If you're ready for change, hun, you just gotta DO IT. Even tho you're gonna feel like literally dying - you have to go out in public. The second time you do it, it'll be difficult too, and the third......and so on. But pretty soon you're mind is going to over come it, and eventually, you'll be able to deal with the anxiety attacks you have. | |

Yes i can go out on my own but i get quite self concious, im taking paxil for awhile now.I been pretty much a homebody for alot of years :( , living with my parents etc.But recently i begun to get my act together so to speak, im currently going to a "lifeskills" class in Edmonton.It seems allright, whenever i would try something new i wouldnt stick with it and would quit.But im not quiting this time around and trying to stick with things. | |

Im on vitamins and an anti depressant...mind ya my divorce didnt help matters much, or a few other things that added to more problems, I stayed home for a long time, only doin data entry from home, or temp work, like driving or warehouse or whatever ta make ends meet...
I didnt care, never said much to anybody i worked with either...My kids have seen the worst of me, my oldest son is so happy that I have met the people that I have so far from here...glad to have his ole ma back ...heh!!

Posted: 3/31/2006 9:54:37 PM | Not to put down anyones comments on here. BUT Mental illness such as the OP stated is not just something to "get over". I have had Panic/Aniexty attacks for a number of years and just recently they have gotten worse. I hate when people say just get over it...You know what my doctor pretty much told me to say..."That saying something like that is like telling a Diabetic to get over it " ..Mental illness is a serious DISEASE just like Cancer, diabetes etc.
I wish more people would understand this.

Good on ya, for working on it... The mind plays tricks on us sometimes, and the key is to find a way to make your mind work for you not the other way around. It truly sucks that you have to go through this, but you show your strength by facing the problem head on and dealing with it. | |

Sorry too hear about your troubles, but we are talking about his for now, so like I said I have met a quite a few NICE folks here and am getting over my fear of seeing other people.
As for meeting these other women go with how you feel, and your instincts about what ya know about em so far. Would be nice too see what they look like first, or if you want to come out and meet us for a coffee sometime, or if you would like to do a one on one coffee thingy ....WELL HEY!! Im cool with that too ... i like coffee ...heh!! | |
