Posted: 4/3/2006 10:06:36 AM | Yeah, I did. I was 21, in college, and living with my girlfriend. We had been arguing quite often about this and that, but we were always willing to work out our differences. The differences of opinion, however, were really wearing on me, even though we were finding a middle ground.
One day she asked me, "Do you think we'll ever break up?" This was sometime in the late afternoon and we had had an argument that morning. I was still a bit ticked. I said, "Yes."
She packed her stuff that day and moved to live with a friend. She moved about 20 minutes away and talked to me a few days later, and said that she still wanted to work it out. I told her that it might be possible, but she really had been driving me nuts by arguing so much. She gave me her number, and told me to call her--and reminded me that the only reason she was even staying in Oklahoma was because of me. She didn't like the university and didn't really like the state. She told me this when she first moved in with me. And I was a cynical **stard then--much worse than now. I didn't know what to think about that, and I wasn't too sure I believed her.
A few months went by, and I eventually called, wanting to know how she was doing. Her roommate said that she moved back to Atlanta two weeks earlier because I broke her heart.
I did.
I was such a little b*stard back then . . . 
I still feel bad about it sometimes. She deserved better. But there's nothing I can do about it--except not treat anyone like that again.
Edit: My heart was pretty much ripped through my chest by the ex wife, so I know what it feels like, too. | |

Man, been there twice. Constant fighting, and after awhile, my flight reflex just cut in and I was out of there.
I think I would rather be dumped than to dump. When I get dumped I do not have the guilty feelings and can sit around and write bad poetry or whatever :) | |

A lot of times men will go into a "relationship" with the intention of not getting serious and even tell the other person thier intentions. However there is a thing called selective hearing and oftentimes girls have very selective hearing. This is where the problem comes into play.
There's a story about an old lady that nurses a snake back to health, reluctantly. However over time she becomes friends with the snake and starts to trust him. One day the snake bites her and as she lies there dying she asks the snake why he bit her. The snake replies "B*tch, you knew I was a snake when you first came across me. Don't blame me for who I am".
Same thing with some guys. If the warning signs are there that he's not relationship material and you are wanting more, time to move on and cut your losses before you get hurt. | |

Man, I can't stand guilt. I can by led around by the nose by it for quite some time by a manipulative woman--until I figure out what's going on. . . and that can take some time when I'm enamored because I become stupid and hopeful. But once I figure it out, I'm a righteous jerk. Probably too much info there and a little off topic. Oh well. I'll let it stand.
I don't like dumping either. But I won't be such a chickensh*t if I have to do it again. Telling that girlfriend when I was 21 that it might be possible we might get back together is not being straight forward. It's crap. If I dump, then I dump. No second chances. Period. I strung her along, and that was BS. | |

Posted: 4/3/2006 10:19:05 AM | Well it depends what constitutes "breaking one's heart". People could have many different opinions on what that means. For example, breaking up with someone for any reason could be considered heartbreaking, and I think most of us have done that.
As for me, I ended a one year relationship because she became a jealous compulsive freak when i had to leave for university. So who broke who's heart?

I won someone's heart over, not fully knowing what I was doing given the cultural differences at the time, when I was working overseas for a summer while in University. I had no intentions of staying on so it was a wrong thing to do even though I was
madly in love with her. In truth I broke my own heart too as to this day I still think

i went 2 her house 2 go out that night, just me and her. came 2 the house, rang the dorebell- i had a doz roses i was hiding behind me. She came out,-looking amazing! just 2 let u kno, and i gave her the roses-common u know cuz it just aint right with out them. Anyways we went out had dinner and came back home, nothing wrong so far. we spent the rest of the night 2gether- an no its not what u think, we where at her parents house so aint nuttin gonna happen. but she was happy, we did whatever she wanted. we ended up just watchin t.v. together all night. she almost fell asleep on me but i wasnt going 2 wake her. she woke up bout midnight, i was still awake holding her watching t.v.she knew i had 2 work the next morning. then starts goin threw my cell-looking threw my phone book, and asked whos this?, who's this? and this? and starts asking y i have them on my phone. we talk i explain, cuz sum are my co works, and familiy so dont get it twisted.she was oh ok!? i wasnt going 2 lie 2 her, never have till this day. she walked me out hugged me gave me a kiss goodnight and told me 2 drive safe and call her when i get home. im like aight everythings cool. i came home looked at my phone, saw a i had a tex, and its from her- we cant b together anymore....,I asked y? y now? y not when i was there? all i get is a bull shit tex! i was with this girl almost a year....missed it by 2months, i was going 2 ask her 2 marry me on her b day-her b day is in april-, i was saving for the ring already. so yea thats my little pice of my life.. | |
