| burlesque shows Posted: 4/6/2006 4:51:41 PM | The emerging Burlesque scene is starting to reach the masses and more and more people are going to the shows and telling their friends about how much fun they had and how entertaining the shows are. I was introduced a few years ago and admit to really enjoying a night out at a Burlesque show. I find the use of music, dance, sketches and comedy all rolled into a titillating strip tease(by healthy men and women) to be a thoroughly refined art compared to the strip joints and their seedy feel. I also enjoy the vaudeville element of some shows, where they include a push the envelope approach to entertainment.
Have you been to a Burlesque Show? What impressions did you leave with? How do you think it compared to the strip joint shows? Do you have ideas for shows that you think would be entertaining?
If you haven't been, would you go, and why or why not?

| burlesque shows Posted: 4/6/2006 5:07:28 PM | vee....you gotta get out more!!!
There is a burgeoning trend of Burlesque in cities everywhere....I am sure if you looked for it you would find something in your area. I know of a few local troupes who are doing US tours. I like that you can go co-ed with a group of friends and not feel 'funny' about it.

| I saw one a little while ago and I was quite impressed Posted: 4/6/2006 5:08:35 PM | | I came across it at the sideTrack cafe and I was very impressed by how creative it was. And your right it was more about dance and a production than stripping. I found it very interesting. | |

| I saw one a little while ago and I was quite impressed Posted: 4/6/2006 5:14:50 PM | I find the best are in Toronto, except quite a few girls are pushing to get you to the back room. Once you get in there, they are pushing to get you to pay for sex later on. My buddy went to the back room once and the girl put her hand down his pants and jerked him off. (with a rubber on) He was shocked when she told him how much it was going to cost. Never being in the back before, he did not know he was actually paying for a sexual act. He thought the stripper really dug him and wanted to make him feel good. Let me tell you he was pretty embarassed when it was all said and done. I think on the most part they can be pretty entertaining, but there are some places that will tarnish the images of the really good entertainers. | |

| I saw one a little while ago and I was quite impressed Posted: 4/6/2006 7:12:33 PM | The closest thing to me within a five hour radius is a strip joint. The infamous Russian strippers Canada imported thought I was a lesbian.
Guess it was sort of a show for my friends...Drama, comedy...

| burlesque shows Posted: 4/7/2006 7:29:21 AM | | I saw a male stripper once years ago who parodied burlesque female strippers. He had great music, a big feather fan, garters on his socks and a chaise lounge to recline on. He did such a fantasic job that the other guys who only danced around and took their clothes off even came out to watch him. Now that was entertainment! | |

| burlesque shows Posted: 4/7/2006 6:05:17 PM | | I once went to Tangerine in Vegas.... what a blast... it was full of energy and everyone (women too) were all into it. Everone left with smiles on their faces... the only thing that sucked is that Carmen Electra didn't show up to the bar she owned... oh well, it was fun anyways.. | |

It's the launch of the Strummin' and Strippin' Tour 2009, with the Alistair Christl band and burlesque by Tanya Cheex and Sauci Calla Horra. Guest stars Skin Tight Outta Sight!
Would anyone be interested in going with me? I have always wanted to check one out.

| burlesque shows Posted: 4/20/2009 10:50:23 PM | Am showing my age but growing up the late Gypsy Rose Lee was a family friend and she was a wonderful entertainer and never vulgar. She wore pasties, but he dance and tease was nothing short of an art form. Something some women could learn from when it comes to using strip teasing as part of the foreplay with their husbands/partners.

| burlesque shows Posted: 4/21/2009 1:24:12 AM | Personally.... I'd LOVE to go to one- a decent one too, not just your usual sh**ty as, pathetic burlesque show. I've never been but have always been rather fascinated with them, basically ever since I heard about Dita Von Teese lol. However, as much as I'd love to, there aren't any good ones (if at ALL) here where I live. And I live in the biggest city in NZ!
I'd go to see the dancing mostly, and for the atmosphere of it. I'm yet to hear something bad about burlesque shows. They're not the same as going to a strip show, that's for sure!
Edit- whoa I didn't realise my swear word would be shown on the page! Thought it'd be censored out...
