When I first joined POF, I thought I saw a nice woman in her profile and wrote to her.
She replied with a nasty response about how I had voted for some picts and she could never date anyone like that.
I was very happy to only have one brief contact with her and no more!
People have the option to chose being rated or not

I will admit that i am drawn to a profile by the pic, like lipstick1961-another hot female from Canada--but the boob shots don't work for me. | |

I am new here and a few days ago I wrote several subdued responses about being forced to view all the T & A shots on these forums (it would be different if these PIC's were just on their profile page and people had a choice to view them or not). Anyway, the topic was created by a young man who asked if the women here were just interested in sex. I also wrote why I thought these women would post such degrading PIC's of their body parts and questioned if this was really a porn-type website.
As a woman who is a national advocate for violence against women, I also expressed my concern for these women's safety. Well, soon after the entire topic came up missing for reasons unknown to me. I think the moderator (male) may have thought my comments were too harsh and/or doesn't see anything wrong with women exploiting themselves like that.
I am grateful and feel fortunate that I am member of this awesome online dating service/web site, and realize that I can't really complain since this service is free service and these PIC's appear to be acceptable. I know there must be other web sites where these PIC's would be more appropriate.  Though, I am still very disappointed that they're allowed but happy to know that I'm not the only that shares this concern

I believe the human body is very beautiful and the butt and clevage shots that some women use as their personal avators here are a heck alot better than some other things that people could use instead (such as violent scenes, etc.) However, there is a time and place for them and not on a public forum. It opens the website up to perverts and who knows the type of perverted E-mails these women must recieve. I'm sure you wouldn't care to see male sexual body parts as you search through different topics here, well perhaps if you were gay you wouldn't mind.

As for picture rating, I'm often surprised at how LOW honest-to-god good-looking young people are being rated by others. Who's rating them, anyway, Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie?
I like being rated, it's only fair, and I like rating. no harm done. But who are these fabulous looking people who are so picky about the looks of others? | |
