| | hockey cheerleaders!!!!Page 1 of 3 (1, 2, 3) | What the.....I am watching the Montreal/Carolina game and damn if there isn't cheerleaders behind the freakin' boards.....
When did hockey need a side show?
I vote lose the scantilly clad ladies, hockey doesn't need them...what do you think?
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/22/2006 4:36:29 PM | I didn't notice the cheerleaders...I was too busy watching the game.
thoughts:
1. Don't Americans use cheerleaders for every sport?
2. t & a probably helps cushion the blow of high ticket prices ;)

| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/22/2006 4:42:27 PM | | cheerleaders do not belong in a rink especially dressed like that...only friggin americans would have cheerleaders there....i couldn't believe it when i saw them there. | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/22/2006 5:01:19 PM | | Lets not American bash it's not just them that use it. If you watch any international hockey you'll see them there to. | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/22/2006 5:05:37 PM | | The hockey cheerleader thing actually comes from Europe! Europeans love cheerleaders even more than us North Americans! It helps fill in the gaps and originally brought people to the game! | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/22/2006 5:40:53 PM | Not bashing Americans at all. Just not a Canadian thing to do to have cheerleaders at a hockey game is all. Never seen it at a Canadian arena ever and really don't feel they need anything to fill the gap. The game is exciting enough without a distraction in my opinion.
BTW GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/22/2006 6:07:03 PM | 4-1 Montreal, third period !!
GO HABS GO
GO HABS GO
GO HABS GO
BTW....cheerleaders not necessary - but if I was there, probably wouldn't mind them
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/22/2006 6:27:03 PM | | Just for the record...I wasn't intending to bash or spark a bashing. | |

| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/22/2006 11:09:23 PM | | We as Canadians can't really say much with regards to cheerleaders at hockey games. I have seen them in OHL arena's before, Ottawa has them(or did when I was there a couple years ago), and I believe Barrie does too...I think Saginaw as well, but they are American I guess(OHL team though). I agree it is kind of lame wherever it is, for hockey anyway...maybe I'm just a traditionalist with some things I guess. | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 1:04:26 AM | | Never seen cheerleaders but have seen ice sluts - chicks who go onto the ice to sweep up excess snow from the ice when needed. | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 6:47:31 AM | ^^^^ Isn't that what the Zamboni is for??? Why on earth do they need sluts for that?
I had never seen it before and it took me completely off guard....I think Hockey moves far too quickly for side line shows....unless of course they are meant to entertain during the punch ups.....I might rather enjoy a little dance routine as a diversion.
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 7:12:30 AM | | Well, they have Roller Derby here. Maybe they could come up with something similar on ice skates and give the cheerleaders something more sporting to do. | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 7:19:11 AM | ^^^^ excellent idea....maybe they could do it between periods while everyone is at the concession stands buying beer!
Oh no, wait a minute they would all get run over by the Zamboni!!!!! Hmm....I might skip the beers to see that though.
Riot....I thought ice sluts were those chicks that hang out at the arena all makeup'd and hair'd up trying to pick up the players.
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 7:25:25 AM | | No, I'm talking separate sport here. Give Hockey a run for it's money. Fill the arena... marketing, commercialism, toy action figures, fast-food cup collections... | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 7:33:55 AM | Picker....we already have something similiar here....it's called pleasure skating...only minus the marketing, and toy action figures....but otherwise it is alot like roller derby on ice skates.

I think we might be chatting now!!
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 7:37:19 AM | You mean when you go pleasure skating, you try to deliberately punch each others lights out. Oh, I see... It's always an accident... Look, I'm trying to come with a good answer to your cheerleader distraction dilemma and possibly provide an avenue for further Canadian economic developement... more jobs... tax revenue... | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 7:52:30 AM | ^^^^^^^
What the HELL!!
Why do you Americans always have to come down to money... The NHL was pretty entertaining before they started to expand and move teams like Winniped to Phoenix for the money....
GRRR... | |
| |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 8:49:43 AM | | Why would they play hockey when I'm trying to watch the cheerleaders? | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 9:00:41 AM | me thinks rasado isn't familiar with the grinning man. I appreciate your attempt to make the cheerleaders provide some type of point, like revenue....but aren't you then proving how useless they really are at a hockey game!
Count....Well if you want to watch cheerleaders go check out the cheerleading competitions....if just seems like a useless addition given the nature of the game....I mean do the girls have a little number for when I fight breaks out!!!
Hit him the head Hit him in the chin Pull his jersey by the thread and win, win, win!!!

| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 10:48:29 AM | Women who are between periods give me a zamboner.
BTW-Sine the Slackhawks will NEVER be any good till wirtzless croaks, I'm rooting for the Avs.
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 10:49:07 AM | | Random Bird-You'd rather watch freakin cheerleaders "during a punch up"!? What kind of hockey fan are you and what the hell is wrong with you!? LOL! Other then when you see a nice goal, the only time you see fans standing and aplauding during a game is when a fight breaks out. Hockey without fights is not hockey IMO, but to each their own I guess... | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 11:01:09 AM | I enjoy a good game of hockey....yes it needs to include a bit of roughness....it must however include some skill and talent.... I admit that I bore easily during the fisticuffs, really they all look ridiculous pulling jerseys over their heads and loosing their balance and falling on top of each other. I'm not saying that there should or shouldn't be fighting....just that it bores me to tears and I usually go displace fluids when it inevitably happens.
Now Hockey certainly is Hockey without the cheerleaders!
FISHGOLF.....hahaha | |
| hockey cheerleaders!!!! Posted: 4/23/2006 11:35:28 AM | | It's when the fights break out that you don't need the cheerleaders. Everyone's watching the fight. This is the cheerleaders downtime. They get tired too. Cheering really does expend a lot of energy. I'm sure it's in their contract that there has to be 'X' number of fight breaks per game. | |
