Need some ez make dinner/food ideas...

Ok... well me and my GF eat out way to much and so were deciding to start cooking our own meals.... but we want something that can be made pretty ezily isn't to unhealthy and taste decent....

Right now I just do salad, veggies, and grill some chicken. We eat pretty late due to our jobs so anything that can be made pretty ezily would be nice.

Also anyone know any good soup recipes?

www.allrecipes.com

Great website for recipes. They're rated and commented on by users. Users will tell ya "I tried this recipe but added more this or less that" or whatever. You can search my ingredients....chicken, beef, main cours, whatever......it's pretty cool.

Good luck!

http://chicken.allrecipes.com/az/GarlicChicken.asp

I'm serving with mixed veggies & rice but there's lots of options that go well with chicken.

if you have a slow cooker /crock pot they are great. you can put a roast or ham or chicken, pork chops, basically whatever you want for dinner that night along with some veggies and seasoning and a little bit of water or a sauce and just let it cook all day....you get home from work to a hot and healthy meal just sitting there waiting for you.

I fix a soup that everyone likes.
Take ground chuck brown it and drain, then add tomato sauce, mixed veggies, stewed tomatoes, chopped onions, Italian seasoning, basil, oregano, garlic powder, creole seasoning, salt, pepper, jalepeno peppers to taste, I add tabasco to mine when I put it in my bowl. this is better made one day and then warmed and ate the second day. I serve it with corn bread and a salad or you could serve steamed cabbage along side.

Soup is the best food for the soul. Especially when the two of you can make it together. If not and time is a factor I agree with the crock pot cooking method. Also on the weekend if you want to take the time there is a soup called borscht that is a favorite of mine, takes about an hour or so to prepare and let simmer. Hamburger soup is a favorite of my kids and very easy to make in the crock pot. If you would like the recipe's let me know, hamburger soup should be on the internet but the borscht is a family recipe....

lots of fun...i wouldn't mind having the hamburg soup recepie...i've had one before with meatballs and veggies in some sort of a broth (not gravy like more like a soup broth) that my kids loved but i've never made it before...would love to have a recepie.

OK here we go
1/2-1 lb hamburger
16 oz canned tomatoes
6 oz tomatoe juice
7 cup water
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup celery diced
1/2 cup green pepper diced
2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon thyme
2 teaspoon soy sauce
1 cup pearl barley
1 bay leaf
1 cup carrots diced
1 cup potatoes diced
Add all the ingredients in order up to and including the bay leaf. Simmer in a large pot for 1 hour. Add carrots and potatoes and let simmer till tender. Usually I serve this with homemade dinner buns. You can spice it up some more with a can of Campbells Vegetable soup but don't add a can of water with it. Experiment and enjoy

I know how to cook all your basic, but I wanted more out of food. So I got a few of them "kitchen machines." They come with recipe books for alot of stufff. I have a new wave oven. It cooks frozen meat in 15 mins, perfectly. So any night is a steak night, or grilled chichen .Even does deserts.

Asparagus over salmon fillets. An inexpensive, good tasting dish you can make in about 30 minutes (I pick up the canned asparagus and frozen salmon so the entire meal is about $6).

1. Take the salmon out of the freezer and let it thaw in the fridge (it's usually an overnight thing for my fridge).
2. Preheat the oven to 450F
3. Spray the baking pan with that Pam stuff (easier *somewhat* to clean later on)
4. Place the salmon on the pan (lol, don't laugh!)
5. add some Spanish onion and garlic on each fillet
6. Place a couple of stalks of asparagus over each fillet
7. Put it in the oven and let it cook for 20 minutes.
8. Take it out and serve!

Goes great with white or red wine (I like Merlot wine personally).

www.recipezaar.com is one of my favourite sites.

Some things I do as prepare-ahead meals:

Cabbage Roll Casserole
Stuffed Peppers
Chipotle Pork Roast

I'll make one of those meals as a regular meal but at the same time, I'll make a couple up for the freezer. You can get those tinfoil containers at the Dollar Store. Then, take them out of the freezer in the morning and pop them into the fridge. When you get home, turn the oven to 350, pop 'em in and in a half hour, dinner is ready. Along with a salad, it's good stuff.

Ragz

soup is the easiest thing to make. you don;t even really need a recipe. chicken noodle is my personal favorite, and i make it whenever there is leftover chicken in the fridge. just dice up the chicken, and then throw it in a pot with any leftover veggies you have alying around (or mixed frozen). add chicken bouillion, or if you don;t have that, a prepackaged chicken soup base (like liptons or something). add enough water to cover it plus a few inches, and then cook it until it tastes good. add any sort of spices you have laying around until you like the taste. then add noodles or rice and cook until they are done.

another easy way to make good nutirtious soups is to start with a can of premade soup and add things to it. I like to add rice, diced chicken and corn to a basic chicken noodle soup, or hamburger, onions and peas to a tomatoe soup. its the easiest way to get a base, and then just experiment with different meat and veggie combos.

YES!! Garlic chicken recipe was yuu-uuum! I'll be honest, I added a little bit extra seasoning but next time I make recipe I'm trying as is. I don't think it'll need anything extra but we'll see..

Oh and a fantastic soup recipe (one of my faves) from that site that is so easy it's ridiculous is Martha's Beef Vegetable Soup. The only thing I do different is season the meat when browning. I typically use ground turkey too but that's just cause I don't buy ground beef anymore. Makes a LOT of soup too.

A great salad to make, and it's healthy and easy.

Take some Romain lettuce, and clean it.

Cover the bottom of a plate with it.

On top of that place smoked salmon ( you can get that fake stuff too, but it's better with the real thing) .

Pour some capers over that, add some Spanish onion, and then drizzle with a good high quality olive oil.

Sprinkle with some citrus spice... and enjoy.

The longest part is washing and preparing the lettuce, and that's not long at all.
