Life is hard and disapointing, always. Those of us who find a way to never give up, don't know how you do it. It's a mind set that makes us different and then less compatable. Posted: 5/6/2006 10:47:17 AM | I don't get the whole "we're fat, so what" mentality. Yes, some people have glandular problems. Some people use food as therapy due to psychological issues. Some women are built like Vikings. I understand and sympathize with them.
But if you are overweight by choice, attempting to justify your disease stinks to high heaven. Let's be honest. There is no way on God's green earth that every woman who jumps on the BBW bandwagon really has a big bone structure, has a gladular problem, or has a believable reason. It's the "fat sympathy chorus" that many women look for.
Guess what? It's old, the men have heard it all, and it's tiresome to deal with a woman who just doesn't give two flips about her physical health. Love others as you love yourself, right?

If you're a fat woman and you don't respect and take care of yourself, then why should anyone else treat you differently? What I mean is, if you act like you're a fat woman and boohoo for you, then you'll get treated as such. If you have a positive attitude and love life and take care of yourself, then men will respond to that.
Not all men are jerks, and not all men are shallow enough just to use you for sex because they feel sorry for you.
People shouldn't be in the dating game until they are comfortable in their own skin. | |

I am very confortable in my skin; I KNOW I am fat because I do not exercise enough and always skip breakfast and very othen eat dinner late! BUT I ACTUALLY AM FINE WITH WHO I AM AND I DO LOVE MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!
I also am not being "used for sex --- because I am not into casual sex!
I posted this question because I have come across, via online messages, and from reading stories from others, many men (there are more of you out there than you would admit too!!!!) that really get turned on more by a woman with some "meat" on her than a boney model type; however, because they are "weak" they give into this desire only as a fetish, and will only get serioursly involved with model/slim/athelic or average type woman to stay within what most of society accepts as beautiful.   | |

Posted: 5/8/2006 6:38:22 PM | I am far from perfect, and respect the fact that the women I date, and seek to date, aren't perfect, either. Still, IN MY OPINION, "BBW" is an oxymoron. To me, no woman who classifies herself as "big" is also "beautiful". I, personally, do not find obesity attractive, no matter how fabulous a personality all that mass is attached to. I am not a health nut, and I enjoy the occasional cheeseburger. Nevertheless, I respect my body. I am by no means a male model with huge biceps and a six-pack abdomen. Neither am I unable to see my belt when i fasten it, or my shoes when I tie them. I don't get winded hiking, canoeing, or walking 18 holes of golf; hobbies which a mate of mine would enjoy.
So, in answer to your question, no. I am not, even in the remotest, tiniest sense, attracted to large women. And Cajun, bear in mind that the woman who started this thread raised the question. Be kind enough to allow the rest of us our opinions, whether or not they happen to agree with yours. | |

I'm overweight....but the only reason your attitude bothers me is because you seem very judgemental and rude. Otherwise, I would assume you are just not attracted to a woman who isn't skinny, and that is certainly ok with me. I would rather find out ahead of time if my date isn't going to be attracted to me.
Which is why I am straightforward from the start. And if not, I'll just move on to someone who either would prefer to meet me first and see, or is attracted to bigger women.

Just wanted to put my 2 cents worth in... As a BBW... Yes i'm overweight... But you know what... I'm working on it! I'll always be a BBW... I'm taller than most gals around here... Lucky me got my body type from my Dad who was a big strapping guy... (My brother got my mom's physic... GO FIGURE!)
I've been on BBW sites before... and most guys there just want to fulfill a fantasy sort of life... that's why I came to check out the pond... I wanted to meet a real guy...
Yes I believe that I need to work on my body... and I am... I've already lost 50 lbs! I am keeping active...eating smaller meals more often so that I'm not starving myself... \
To be quite honest... I think most guys online are looking for their Model Type Girls... but what do I know... I'm certainly not a model type girl so they don't tell me those things!

However, you are right...you are entitled to your opinion and it was asked of you.
I think, being overweight myself, it has made me sensitive to others that are. I used to work with a girl who is beautiful, but also big. I had a rather caustic boss that used to make smart remarks when we ate lunch (he should have had his ass sued, but unfortunately we needed the paycheck) and she would get upset and not eat her lunch. (she is 21) I had the more F.U. attitude as I didn't really give a damn what he said. I felt bad for her because her feelings were so hurt and I guess it makes me want to see a little more "kindness" when it is being discussed. That's all.
I am the person I am. I've been bigger than I am now, someday I may be smaller, who knows? I'm more concerned with developing the person I am, than the package it's in. That's always in the works and I will consider your comments about my "superiority complex" as I didn't realize I had one! | |

From talking to and meeting some men I have found that there are alot of men who truly prefer a larger size woman. But many treat or consider this preference a sexual fetish. So I wanted to know if there were any men here on POF that ARE attracted to plus-size women and do not consider it a fetish but just a regular preference!!!!!!!!!

I tend to shy away from ads that say "BBW lover"....there is something about those ads that bothers me. I find big hair biker dude types to be appealing....but that doesn't mean some nice person that doesn't fit that description isn't going to appeal to me once we chat a little.

I am heavier now than ever before in my life from medical issues... (side effect of meds) and I exercise and I watch what I eat, h e l l I haven't had a cheeseburger in forever...but yeah, I tell people I am DAMN good cook... and add... "you think I got this big eating salads??"
All kidding aside, I know what kind of attention I got as a thinner woman with curves, and the attention I get now (almost nil) and I think it's ridiculous--I am the same woman inside whether I am what I weigh now, or if I weigh 130...
At least this way, I know a man who likes me for me, isn't all about my body...  | |
