| are u too picky? Posted: 5/13/2006 3:41:25 PM | A friend wants to set you up with a handsome, successful, funny co-worker. One minor flaw: He's bald. What do you do/say?
1.You call that a flaw? I'd consider it a flaw if this man was recently deceased or jailed. Bald is no problem!
2. Then it's no go. There's no way I'd be interested in anyone who's shorter than six feet, makes less than six figures, and yes, lacks a full head of hair. 3. Ooh, that's too bad. But in the spirit of open-mindedness, I guess I'll go on one date. You never know.

| are u too picky? Posted: 5/13/2006 4:22:47 PM | good question
how do we know if we are being too picky?
personally i think bald is sexy and i don't care bout money or the things you mentioned, but it seems that every guy has some deal breaker quality about him. where is that coming from?
i ask myself if i'm too picky and i don't know.
i'm not talking about the silly little things i have read like 'he talks about his x' he looks at the waitresses behind etc..
i think bad breath, body odor, even rudness, most things can be corrected. i don't dimiss someone easily. at least i don't think i do.
one guy on a first date said he had had a same sex thing when he was very young but he has never continued along those lines. then he said he thinks it is not socially acceptable and i said 'oh, i don't know about that' He then stated checking out all the men in the room.
One guy i had a date with has a crush on his daughter in law. he didn't actually say that but anyone listening would hear it. a physical crush, lust
another guy i dated calls his daughter 'daughter' she is 20. i was surprized to see a striking similarity between me and her in appearance. but i didn't think much about it after that.
we made love and he called me 'daughter' he was very embarrassed and i said it is a compliment because he is very close to his daughter.
that is just a tiny tiny sample but there is always something big, and i am wondering how it is that i am ruling all the men out.

| are u too picky? Posted: 5/13/2006 4:38:40 PM | | I have so many things to rule me out I could remain single forever based on just a small fraction of them. Ironically I also have an equally large number of things to qualify me as a real catch, a find and a keeper. It confuses hell out of women and they have my full measure of sympathy. It would be practical if I was somehow offered in a package deal, such as with a house or car or Alaskan cruise, so that the woman could get hold of me without having to shop for me as a stand-alone item. Then I think she would be well past the confusion of shopping and free to imagine how to make the best of me, seeing as I was already there. But that isn't how this works, I know, and if horses had wishes, where would that leave beggars? | |

Works for me. Now that "daughter" thing, that's just scary. I'd have to run from that one too

Now, as to whether I'm too picky. I'm trying to learn to be. Apparently, in hindsight, I wasn't picky enough with the last choice...lol. He was obviously in my life for an important reason - my education!
The challenge is in being picky enough about the right things - important things like being damned sure that there's a track record of monogamy and truthfullness. Stuff like making sure that your choice of a partner is emotionally available and capable of committing....stuff like that.
I'd still rather he have a cute butt but would rather he have other more important attributes.

| are u too picky? Posted: 5/13/2006 5:05:45 PM | mmmmmmm........some of the sexiest guys I have known have been bald. That is so not even a factor in whether a person is datable or not. I have also dated men shorter than me and am every so grateful that I didn't have a height requirement....(even though I thought I did).
I think the true measure of a person is who they are and here is the clincher, how you feel about yourself while in their presence. That is how to determine if there is something to pursue or not.

| are u too picky? Posted: 5/13/2006 5:53:42 PM | Yes I am too picky, and I am trying to figure my way out of it. My friends and family joke that I will be old with 10 cats if I don't stop my non-sense..and I am just an average girl, not any huge reason as to why I am this way...No clue..but I'm working on it. Anyone else out there that has resolved this shallowness,,options are:get over it and meet someone nice or don't and be single for the rest of my life..go figure | |

| are u too picky? Posted: 5/13/2006 9:51:16 PM | I am too picky but ........ I don’t especially like dating bald guys. Late last fall I saw a really really hot chick with a bald guy - she had her hand on his azz - did I mention she was hot?
I came home and looked in the mirror and said “I need a new look”. I cut my hair off and started growing a beard. In four days the whiskers itched so much - I shaved it off.
The plan was to let the beard come up to speed then shave my head. The plan failed. I can’t seem to do the itchy whiskers. Maybe this winter I will try it again. I really am getting tired of the same look for the last 500 years.
This is all true btw - including the hot chick

If you accept anything less, you're not living up to you're own values, so therefore.......yes,.... be picky,..... be real to yourself, first and formost.

| are u too picky? Posted: 5/14/2006 4:53:12 AM | | I do have my scruples. We NEED to be picky! If that leaves us alone for longer then we like, that's how it will be. One day, the pickiness will pay off and BAM, life will be lovely! | |

Bull, what a great idea! Ya think I'd do better if I offered myself along with a fully equipped dungeon?

| are u too picky? Posted: 5/14/2006 7:02:26 AM | Whenever I learn of a person who sets such high standards for others to meet I immediately look at them and see what they offer. In most cases, they are below their own standards.
I judge by behaviour... everything else is irrelevant if the behaviour is poor.
