I had my first drink last Fri.. yay for me!
ok so I have a few queations.

I'm a wee bit drunk right now, as I cannot walk worth beans (darn walls being so hard), but my mind is mostly ok (i think). I'm drinking Smirnoff Ice (7%) & I feel quite odd. I'm on my 3rd bottle & I feel really hot (temp. wise), my arms & head weight a tone, breathing is getting a little hard, can hardly see right, my head is funny & my heart is pounding up a storm (I can hear it in my head & in my jaw, quite annoyng really), Is this normal? Just wanna make sure as this is my first time getting this drunk (I hope my spelling is ok),

My sister will be so proud that I finally let loose after all these years lol

as I said I'm a wee bit drunk... ok manybe really drunk... ok, ya this heart beat in the jaw is very annoying.. I'm gonna lay down as I can hardly sit now & reading hurts. dang I feel so freaky... ok so 3 bottles is way too much for me I'm gonna fall out of my chair.. good night

Drinking is not a sport or a game to see how many you can drink before you make your self physically ill. Drink with moderation and know your limits - if one is your limit to remain 'yourself' without the sweats, heart palpitations, loss of body control etc. then stop at one. Be responsible - don't kill yourself to be one of the gang.

wow...this is the oddest thread I've ever read

To answer your question...STOP BLOODY DRINKING! You'll learn over time what your body can and can't handle...I've never felt my pulse in my jaw before and if I did, I would stop. Smirnoff Ice is the WORST thing you could possibly drink, it's so full of sugar that your hangover is going to be unbelievable and you'll never drink again...newbies always grab the coolers, you're better off mixing Vodka and 7up, it tastes the same and you're hangover the next day will be cut in half.

as I said my mind feels fine, it was my body that started to feel off.

I had no idea what my limit was (ok I do now, no more then 2). On Fri I had 2, felt fine.. on sat I had 3, still felt fine. Lastnight I had 3 (ok I didn't finish the 3rd, I stopped) & I didn't feel so hot, thats why I came here.

I'm allergic to many juices, thats why I didn't want to go with a cooler, or a beer as my mom is very allergic to it & I have the same allergies as she does. My sister recommened Smirnoff Ice to me as shes never gottin ill off of it. Thats why I picked it as my drink. I never intended to get hammered (not my style), I don't know why I was fine sat & not lastnight.

The hangover sucks a little, as I'm super hot, walking is a little off, I'm really sore, & my gut is P'ed off (gurgling like mad).. no barfing as thats one thing I cannot do, yay!

I do get the heart beat in my jaw & head often as I have anxity (so the Dr.'s say), just didn't know if it was my anxity or a normal thing when drunk.

Why don't you look down the first page of the ontario forums and ask the people in the "AA" thread how great drinking is.

Those people cannot control themselves at all (until they go to AA). I didn't intend to get hammered as I stated above. I had 3 before & was fine (I didn't even have a full 3 last night). Why does a full 3 not effect me but less then 3 does? darned if I know, thats why I wont drink more then 2 from now on. If 2 bothers me then I'll go down to 1 & so on. I have self control, I didn't feel like I was getting even a small buzz when I started on # 3 lastnight, it hit me hard & thats when I stopped.

I remember one of my first drinks,It was homemade apple cider my Grandfather made.It smelled like paint remvover but it did the trick. My parents have a picture of me when i was about 5 years old sneeking to the sellar with a glass in my hand.Later my Grandmother and i would share a beer if i couldn`t sleep. It does wonders.I`m not a big drinker by any means my friends say i should go to a bar with a soother cause i drink so slow.

Sorry this thread made me giggle. I can remember trying to type something out after having one too many drinks. I got really frustrated!! HA!

Everyone experiences their first time drinking and each experience is different. Your body isn't used to the alcohol so it definitly wont take much to affect you. ALWAYS know your limit. You wont know it immediately but in time you will see what you can and can't handle. If the feeling of being 'drunk' scares you a little than maybe you just arn't meant to be a drinker.

What you experienced with the feeling of being hot and being able to feel your heart pounding so hard pretty much means you've reached your limit and you're about to pass out. After a night of drinking when I finally calm down sometimes I notice my breathing being louder and I can feel my heart pounding more. I'm sure most will agree when at a bar or something when you go to the washroom and finally have the second to yourself you notice those things.

So CHEERS and remember your first time being drunk and remember how it made you feel.

Thank you P.A.T.C.H.
I was fine until I got up to go to the bathroom. I returned & it hit me hard, thats why I didn't know I had had too much. I'm still feeling a little under the weather, but nothing like this morning.

I'm putting my bottles of Smirnoff Ice into the bedroom. They will stay there unless its a weekend. I don't sleep in the bedroom, its more of a fish & turtle room lol. I live/sleep in the livingroom/kitchen.

If you think your first drink and a near drunken experience is a reason to cheer, very sad commentary. Just be careful if you are out with a guy and you have a few drinks at his urging. This giddy experience might not be so pleasant if he takes advantage of you, in your state or euphoria over alcohol.
And using this board to get all hyped up about it, is certainly not too complimentary about your values.

Things to remember when drinking:

1 - Don't drink on an empty stomach. This allows the alcohol to be more redaily absorbed into the bllod stream.
2 - Be aware of your mood. Alcohol can greatly exagerate a your emotions. Drinking when in in a bad mood will usually make you feel worse. (trust me)
3 - Never Try to "catch up". Most common mistake. Arriving late at a party I have seen so many pple try to "catch up" with the earlier arrivals. The usually result is to overshoot and end up in a very bad place.
4 - Pace yourself. While the amount and type of alcohol is important, how fast you drink will also.
5 - Never allow yourself to be pressured to drink more than you want or can handle. This is particularly important to ladies (don't mean to sound sexist). When someone is trying to get you to drink more than you are confortable with, it is usually not a good sign. Be aware.
6 - Most importantly, learn to recognize the signs that you've had to much. This goes for both men and women. If you think you may have had to much, either bow out for the evening, or switch to something non-alcohlic. Don't let anyone try to push you further than you know you want to go. If you leave, the worse that can happen is you are thought of as boring. If you continue to drink, well, the list of horrible results is to long to mention.

That's the highlight I guess. For the record, I have been drinking, and continue to do so, since I was 16 (I'm of Belgian descent, and well, drinking is expected), so the advise I have given is from experience.

I would also like to mention that while this may seem to be an odd thread at first glance, I am glad you had the nerve to ask the questions. Way to many people have to learn the hard way how to drink responsibly. As to those who don't beleive in drinking, remember that it's leagal, it's relatively harmless when done in moderation, and responsibly. You are allowed your opinion, but as a responsible adult, so am I.

Take care, and have fun.
