| | Infidelity is ok Page 1 of 3 (1, 2, 3) | | Zeus, the king of Gods, was known to cheat on his wife Hera. Clearly if it's ok for God to have extramarital affairs, it's ok for the rest of us to sleep around. No sense in questioning this, read ANY manuscript regarding the religion of the ancient Greeks. It's written in ancient religious texts, so it must be authebtic. | |

I love it! Thank you for being able to show that just because it's in a cultural adaptation of the bible, doesn't mean it's ok.
Great use of sarcasm dude!

If Zues can't happily get away with adultery--- THEN NEITHER CAN YOU!

| Infidelity is ok Posted: 2/18/2005 8:24:16 AM | To elaborate a bit further, Zeus was known to trick women by turning himself into something cool, like a fish, or a pony. This would help him seduce women. So clearly, tricking a woman into sleeping with you via deceptive methods is A OK.
Let's not forget the Centuars,,,half man, half horse. Clearly this is a sign that trisexuality is ok, even encouraged considering the fact that the Centaurs were brave and wise. Perhaps this is where the term "hung like a horse" comes from?
Don't forget the story of the Titans! Cronus, castrated his father Uranus with a sickle (perhaps where the idea of Eunochs came from?) and took his wife, which also happened to be his mother. They had children; including Zeus and Hera...who got married and had more children. Clearly incest is best..or at the very least, acceptable.

Remains have been found of a city that existed where the Greek-Trojan war is said to have taken place. The city was once every big and splendid as described in Homer's Illiad. This proves that the war took, place, that the gods existed (as they had a huge hand in the war), and that Odysseus' trip home war real.

just for the sake of argument.... what if 'God' is also the same thing? just another character created by humans.... just a thought
|
| Infidelity is ok Posted: 2/19/2005 1:35:31 PM | ^^^ For some of us, thats not a thought. Its a belief. I don't feel "God" has any more validity than the Greek, Roman or Egyptian Gods.

...which is one of the things that adds to the Bible's credibility.
And for those of you interested in some of the other things that add to the bible's 'credibility'...
1. In audio book form, if you play the bible backwards, you hear a recording of "Kumbaya".
2. From the older Hebrew translations of the old testament, when god speaks to Moses, he ends the conversation with "make sure to tell 'em I'm serious about this sh!t, except for the part about pork."
3. Noah's story doesn't mention unicorns once. AND there aren't any unicorns here now. Like...d'uh...totally adding to the credibility factor...
4. When Jesus gets all wiggy with the guys selling stuff, some lesser known gospels include him swearing when he accidently stubs his toe on a stall...which is really what set him off.
5. Dude...they, like, made movies about it...one of 'em even has Charlton Heston in it.
6. Recent discoveries in Sumaria include a "Girls Gone Wild: Jerusalem" parchment that features Mary Magdalene LARGE.
This and more coming to the History Channel soon...

| Infidelity is ok Posted: 2/19/2005 7:17:13 PM | | Yes Jivin, we have know that Troy was a real city and there was a real war for over a century now. I am glad you fianally got word of it. Even the Greeks and Romans did not take their gods that serious as they were discarded rather easily. The same can not be said of YHWH who conntinues to be the focal point of 3 major religions. | |
|
| Infidelity is ok Posted: 2/19/2005 7:17:16 PM | Well that goes to show you why such ancient civilizations thought it was okay for men to cheat on their wives and not vice versa. Well honey, the gods are doing it... you don't want me to piss them off do you? Still, most wives usually were allowed to sleep with slaves because it was a technicality, that they weren't really cheating because the slaves weren't considered citizens.
Personally, I am one who believes humans created god. All religions and their deities for that matter. A way to personify the unknown as a being of absolute perfection, and to contruct a belief structure that can't easily be questioned. Because if you do, we will have to punish you, or else the invisible sky being will throw a sh!t storm of immense proportions.

Wow, you... don't understand the scriptures at all.
First of all, that's God's son.
Second of all, Even he didn't 'act' human, per se, which, coupled with the ressurection, is why salvation is possible.
