| | Those "Christian" menPage 1 of 6 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) | | I meet this man who in his first email said he was a christian and proud of it. Needless to say 3 days later I had an invitation to Africa, and promise of many freaky sexual encounters. When I questioned his christianity he said he was a church going not a real christian. Really the depth some of these men will go to. Thing is I am not the only one this particular made such move on, needless to say he has since changed the name on his profile. | |

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/20/2006 11:36:15 AM | A lot of people use the word Christian as just that a word, not fully realizing what it totally encompasses. I have met and talked with some of those "Christains", like yourself (op), who misuse the term and its meaning to judge and make assumptions about others.
For him to say he is church going and not a real Christian, is something he should repeat over and over to himself, and maybe he will see how much of an idiot he sounds like.
Many use the term Christian to their advantage hoping to influence and impress, and maybe it works to a degree, but saying it and living it are two different things. There are those who feel they are spokespeople for Christianity, when in reality they they are sadly missing a few key points.

It IS just a word, someone shouldn't have to tell you they're a christian you should be able to tell by their actions if they have they exemplify the qualities of a christian. Just like saying you're a nice or good person, just do it, live it. And let people decide for themselves.

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/20/2006 8:09:33 PM | I agree with what your saying about men saying their Christians. I myself am a christian and my actions speak louder then words. A christian is a person that takes Gods word seriously.Just because a person goes to church does not make them a christian. And as for the church it,s not a building it the people. Men over use that word I think to lure women into thinking their something their not. I,v been their. God bless | |

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/20/2006 8:28:09 PM | Words and claims of being a Christian are different than being one. Christians take Gods word seriously and we try and treat others as we would like to be treated. Christianity isn't a part time thing, it is a full time life time committment and when you truly are a christian, your actions will speak louder than your words and most don't have to even say I'm a Christian, You already know this by being around them or talking to them. This isn't to say we don't screw up and make mistakes, it just means, we do try to be christian like to all we meet.
I'm sorry this happened to you, I've had a similar experience with the last two men who came into my life and it made me wonder if a good Christian man still existed, but with some time, I've come to realize I can't judge all by the actions of a few..
Good Luck and take care..

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/21/2006 11:55:53 AM | | Their have been a few threads on this topic of "christianity".I mention in the other threads that I had a profile on a christian site.I had a few men e-mail me,after talking to them for a little while...they have asked me for money!.when I said I dont have money to "give",I been told I am not a true christian..because christians help others...so if I am a christain..I "Have to give money".They use the word christian..and use the christian site just to get money!.to use people.both guys verbally bashed me!,because I wouldn't send them money!.Like I mentioned in the other site..if someone doesn't have money to give...doesn't make them not a christian. Also the word "christian",doesn't mean "sucker".and some people out their..think they can use a persons beliefs..in order the use them. And yes..you ladies are correct..actions are louder than words.I have met lots of people claiming they are a christian..but they certainly dont "act like one".so If a guy states he is a christian on here..than he may just be..but be aware...dont put what people tell you as face value..especially on the internet. | |

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/21/2006 3:59:15 PM | Just because someone says they are a christian doesn't mean they are..some people say that in order to take advantage .I had a profile in a christian site....and I was asked countless times for money!.If I said No..I was told I was not being a "christian",because christians are suppose to help their fellow man.some people think if you are a christian that means you are a "sucker".Just because you are a christian doesn't mean we are not cautious..or that we are gulliable!.some people get confuse with that!.I am sure their are truly genuine "christians"(like myself). You just have to be cautious....and dont take everything for "face value"...like the one lady already mention..actions speak louder than words!. | |

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/21/2006 4:13:37 PM | | Met the same here person. What I found out is that he was an active church member who sometimes preaches at the church he attends. I realised when he sent me his picture and I recognised his name. I have been to the church. He is taking "Love Thine neighbour" too far. | |

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/22/2006 6:00:52 AM | Sorry I said the same this twice..when I tried to post my "two cents",the first time..it didn't seem to work, and than when I posted basically the same thing again...I saw now their were two of my postings...oops. | |

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/22/2006 6:13:37 AM | What does it matter what faith a person has, we all bleed the same. Is this thread about dis-honesty? | |

And some people only see what they chose to see.....

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/23/2006 10:17:43 PM | If anybody mentioned religion to me in a first email it would be the first and last.
Religion to me is a private matter...... not something to broadcast to strangers on a dating site.

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/23/2006 10:50:35 PM | | The word "christian" is another losely worded phrase...I mean just look at all those preacher "freaks" on TV who claim to perform "miracles" go into siezures and touch the hand of christ , then they ask you for 39.99 plus tax!!! That's the problem with that today , everyone should shut their mouth about christian this and that....9/11, 1st and 2nd world war all had to do with religion and misrepresntaion of it. | |

Either I didn't make myself clear or you misunderstood my post.
No one on the Forum offended me. I was answering the OPs post re people writing emails to strangers on dating sites and mentioning their religion in the first post when such a private matter was unasked for.
Hope this clears up any confusion.

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/24/2006 11:08:26 PM | | Wonder what the point is in going to church if he wasn't a "true christian". Maybe it's the fear of hell, or associating spirituality with religion kind of thing. In the end, who's to say who is a true christian or not? I often see hypocrisy follow in religious type thinking's wake. Not surprised to hear about this man. I'd be surprised if he wasn't that way given the statement he made alone. | |

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/29/2006 11:14:26 AM | "Christianity people, is about a persons beliefs. Not something they persuade other people to believe but what they themselves believe."
I have to disagree with this. I've always felt, and been taught that Christians have an obligation to teach others about their faith. Not to debate religions, that's not what this topic is about; but according to Christianity, nobody will get to Heaven except through our advocate and savior Jesus Christ.
With that thought.. No agnostics, no atheists, etc will be in the Kingdom. Only those who know and belive in Jesus Christ will enter Heaven. So, that means; according to our faith, that all our earthly pals who don't believe get what's behind door number two in the afterlife unless they get introduced to Christianity.
If it's not the Christian that takes the role of educator, who then; will it be? Why would anyone else, save for us; care if 'Average Joe' converts and is saved?

| Those Christian men Posted: 5/29/2006 3:22:38 PM | | I will bite my tongue, with this one exception! Can someone explain to me why Christianity is not one Complete faith (Instead of being several denominations)? | |
|
| Those Christian men Posted: 5/29/2006 9:28:35 PM | Sometimes I trust "heathens" more than these so called "Christians" the following is a fine example:
I saw a wino outside the store the other day.... as he approached me he said "Lady I could tell you that I am hungry and need some money for food. The truth is, can you spare two dollars a for a bottle of wine?" I was so impressed with his honesty, I gave him the money!!!
|
| Those Christian men Posted: 1/7/2010 3:22:33 PM | | So which is the 'heathen', you or the wino? Was this a deja vu? I swear I came across this once before.... | |
