| Any Japanese anime fans here? Posted: 6/7/2006 6:21:16 PM | So far it's 1:1. I'm impressed!
That's awesome. As well as those that you've mentioned, I also enjoy Naruto and Dragonball (in their original japanese form of course), and of course anime films such as Akira, Ninja Scroll and the ghibli films.
Let's see how many people we can find.

| Any Japanese anime fans here? Posted: 6/11/2006 8:57:05 PM | I watched a few including the Final Fantasy series.. Awesome movies.. Along with Spirited away and Princess Mononoke.. I know I still got a lot to see but yeah, I basically like them! | |
|
| Any Japanese anime fans here? Posted: 6/12/2006 2:37:53 PM | | Gantz didnt follow the manga that sucked only 26episodes so you don't even understand the whole story... really hate when they do that! | |
|
| Any Japanese anime fans here? Posted: 6/13/2006 11:20:03 AM | | Gantz is definitely a little more disconnected than most anime. Each episode could give you a hole in the wall view of the grand picture. But it's putting the pieces together is more than half the fun, don't you think? If Gantz is disconnected then what's FLCL? lol | |

| Any Japanese anime fans here? Posted: 6/13/2006 8:30:04 PM | First got into it when I saw Sailor Moon on tv as a teenager...and was like, "wow!" always been a fan of animation, it was so great to see that medium cover a variety of themes and genres rather than just "comedy" and "action". At least in anime action people get hurt, feel emotional, and deal with real issues (albeit with a lot of humour, fantasy, and big guns thrown into the mix, of course;) I also love that characters often don't tell you what they are feeling or thinking...a lot of it is interpretive, there is a lot of "nonverbal" communication..
some anime I love: -cowboy bebop -hellsing -vampire hunter d -gungrave -gankutsuou
can anyone recommend any others?

but the movies by Hayao Miyazaki got me good. spirited away, princess mononoke, howl's moving castle, etc... i could spend a whole afternoon watching those over and over. <3

| Any Japanese anime fans here? Posted: 6/17/2006 4:32:48 PM | Hey Albertagirl, I'd definitely recommend you watch Naruto (until episode 135). It's great, perfect mix of comedy, action, drama, you name it. But don't go beyond episode 135 cause it's junk after that.
Others I'd recommend would be Dragonball (but in Japanese, not the crap english dub), the Gundam series, Full Metal Alchemist and One Piece (again, in Japanese because it's terrible in english). Pioneering anime films like Akira and Ninja Scroll are also a must.
But definitely check out Naruto first. It sounds exactly what you're looking for.

| Any Japanese anime fans here? Posted: 6/23/2006 11:51:32 AM | I stopped watching a long time ago, but I used to watch to practice my Japanese. Nowadays I watch those stupid Japanese variety shows - they are incredibly vapid, but a great way to practice everyday conversations.
When I watched, I used to love the older stuff like Harlock.

| Any Japanese anime fans here? Posted: 7/29/2006 10:49:20 PM | Naruto fillers heh... i just watched the Naruto movie and then i was like... Oh now i know why they are call Narutard.. no offensse but i enjoyed Aishiteru Baby an anime about a young 16y playboy having to act like a parent to a young girl and goddamn was 12x times better than naruto movie... oh and bleach fillers are 10x times more awesome than non-fillers naruto...
Not Bashing naruto... just ..Bashing XD"

| Any Japanese anime fans here? Posted: 8/11/2006 10:53:42 PM | Yet another anime fan right here.
I tend to prefer the older stuff though (80s, early 90s.) The only thing that I still follow regularly is FSS, but that's technically manga and not anime.
