| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/17/2006 7:58:28 PM | | Yup, the Jackson area. Anyone from around there? As soon as a find some kind of a job to transfer to, I will be there! Any idea's? I was up there the end of May, and there were some pretty cool places to go, but obviously, I didn't have a clue where to start. Fill me in people! | |

| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/20/2006 7:07:26 PM | I don't agree. I have been to almost every state and Michigan is one of the most beautiful ones....especially up north. Plus there are all the great lakes and lighthouses. Almost everywhere you go there are small lakes too.
In the fall, the colors are fantastic......and I actually love the snow........winter time sports and activities are a blast.
I was born here and lived here most of my life.........absolutely love Michigan!!!

| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/26/2006 7:54:07 PM | | Why do I need to turn around before it's to late? Other than the longer winters... eeeeek!! | |

| Moving to MI! "biggest mistake of my life was coming back" Posted: 6/26/2006 11:14:41 PM | | Run now while you have the chance, you still have one go to where the jobs are cuz unless you wanna be a nurse or drive a semi there is nothin here, I regret daily about leaving houston from 50 k to 15k in as long as it takes to drive it | |
|
| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/27/2006 6:34:41 AM | | I am a big Lake Michigan fan myself. Then there is always Silver Lake which would be a drive from Jacktown (Jackson) but if you like dune buggys, water and I am sure you like girls in bikinis, a person your age would have a blast there. We have an amusement park by Muskegon called Michigan Adventure, great water park. And of course there is tons of lakes to go fishing for bluegills and bass and whatever. Grand Rapids has quite allot of different stuff going on and there is the VanAndel where they have good concerts and all kinds of shows really they have a website. This is all kind of a drive from where you are going to be but its stuff to do. | |

| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/27/2006 5:19:27 PM | I have lived in other areas and they all have good and bad points. Michigan has sorta four seasons. It has beautiful scenery. The falls are glorious, th ewinters I am not big on but the change is nice. The snow can be so pretty. The summers rock with all the lakes and hiking and nature. Welcome to Michigan. Soem of the larger areas do have thugs and crack and such but almost any urban and even not so has the problem with drugs and such.
I am not familiar with jackson at all. but good luck.

| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/27/2006 7:37:12 PM | | I live in Jackson myself, I moved here about six years ago and I'm not gonna lie to you, I could've done better. The people here are not what you would call welcoming. If you have family here it will help a little, but mostly it is definetely a different world out here. Watch your back, don't be to quick to trust. Good luck...... | |

| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/27/2006 9:24:50 PM | | damn...... you found something to do in the jackson area? that is surprising I can't find anything to do in Lansing that is worthwhile | |

| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/28/2006 3:19:42 PM | I don't know everything that Jackson has to offer. However, you will be in between three great universities (U of M, Michigan State, and Notre Dame), as well as in between two big cities (Chicago and Detroit), and between two great Lakes and all the activities that come along with it.
As for the comment made about drugs....specifically crack, you can find that almost anywhere...not just in Michigan.
Like I said before, I have been to almost every state and Michigan is one of the prettiest.
You may have to travel a bit to see that side, but I think it is well worth it
There is a lot of stuff to see and do here...

| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/28/2006 3:33:10 PM | Well considering I live minutes from Leavenworth, aka Leavenworth Prisons... theres like... 4 of them around there... I'm used to living by prisons.
That DOES seem to be the predicament. Finding a job there isn't easy. Let alone from 750 miles away!

| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/28/2006 4:07:53 PM | I guess I have a different viewpoint about prisons and drugs.....seeing the I lead substance abuse groups with incarcerated prisoners!!!!
I guess that kind of stuff doesn't bother me....LOL!!
You'll find that sort of stuff everywhere you live.....not just Michigan.
Still doesn't make this state bad....or any other for that matter.

| Moving to MI! Posted: 6/29/2006 12:51:35 PM | | Moving ti Michigan is not so bad, it being all the way over in Jackson that is gonna suck, too far from any of the fun. Best Wishes to ya though, I'm in South East Michigan Near Detroit. | |
|
| Moving to MI! Posted: 7/3/2006 12:37:01 PM | | I'm going to be up there the first weekend in August... anyone live around Jackson? How about idea's for a job to apply at, lol. I know I can't do what I want to do up there, cause the last time I WAS there, the market wasn't much of anything. And I need something NOW, not something to build on. | |
|
| Moving to MI! Posted: 7/3/2006 3:06:09 PM | | Is moving to jackson something you do or dont have a choice about? What is it that you are good at,,,,,,,uh job wise? lol | |
|
| Moving to MI! Posted: 7/3/2006 4:52:08 PM | | What kind of work do you do? I'm not gonna lie, jobs are a rare commodity statewide right now. I don't know why you're planning on Jackson, but if you haven't considered it yet, the west side is (IMHO) the best side! Colder and more snow than mid-state in the winter, but you can't beat the summers. If it wasn't so stinkin' beautiful here I'd move south near my sister or cousin. | |

| Moving to MI! Posted: 7/3/2006 11:33:47 PM | | I have been doing things with custom cars and bikes. Right now I'm working for a cable company for the "main" job. Frankly, I don't care what I do, as long as I can pay the bills. Once I get up there, then I'll worry about getting something better. | |
|
| Moving to MI! Posted: 7/4/2006 5:12:35 AM | | Well, if you are planning on supporting a family when you get here, I really would have to say don't move until you have a job. The unemployment here is so high right now, I know people who have been without work for a year or more. Good luck to you though, I hope you can find something. | |
