Posted: 6/18/2006 7:19:28 PM | I am getting frustrated over this one. I have been single for four years and had long hair up until last year when I shaved it for my mom who had cancer. Before I shaved my head I had no problem getting a date or meeting men.
The day I shaved it that it all changed. Men don't even look at me now. As soon as I reply to an e mail here and show my picture that's it. My hair is growing in but still very short. Is long hair really that important to men? | |

I went through the same kinda thing from the opposite end of the spectrum. I had long hair Down to the middle of my back (I kept it neat) and shaved it off out of respect for my Dad. I see a lot of women say they dont like long hair but I had a lot more dates with it long | |

I for one would NEVER reject someomone for that, if anything they would be more attractive to me because it shows they have a great heart and character and confidence and i love that in a person. It's unfortunate that some people are like that, but i can wake up every morning and look in the mirror and know that I have alot of class and character then that. I wish you the best ok.

I can see where THAT might cause a guy to care either way. But the ones who are vehemently against short hair...I don't get it. They are allowed their own opinion, I just don't understand it. | |

I just know i don't judge and I know who I am as an individual and that I have more integrity then to insult someone by rejecting them over their hair or lack thereof.
OP can i say something even though I don't know what you look like, I would like to say that I think just what you did for your mom and the fact thay you have a loving heart and are confident and were willing to shave your hed for your mom.....just for those reasons to me you are beautiful and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. You're a great woman.!!

what matters to me is the way I feel when i'm with her...
too many people are worried about having trophy boyfriends or girlfriends...
no one really takes the time to get to know someone as a person and I think that that is completely shallow...

You are accepted here - If I am, you are!!!! I have never had a hard time getting men - I recently lost 135lbs and can afford to loose a lot more - regardless I have always attracted men and good looking ones at that - why because I have a very positive and confident personality. God - start loving your self the way you are and others will love you as well.
This goes for your bloody hair as well!!!
People it's not about your appearance it's about your attitude and the people you draw to you, based on that attitude.
If some jerk or jerks pass you by because of thier shallow attitude (and yes I'm saying that "S" word again) it's thier loss!!!
Oh and yes people we have our preferences - YADA YADA YADA - but try treating others the way you wish to be treated!!! Wow you might even find the love of your life - Go figure!!!

Hey just want to put my 2 cents in, that might end up being a dime.
Little blurred on the email intake. If your emailing someone and then you get 'informed" they don't like the short hair issue and aren't going to keep exchange of emails up, even after you tell them your hair is growing back?!?? And/or don't email after the pic exchange....
Well, that's a blessing..period. The guy is wacked,either way.
Myself, I am a sucker for long hair,no matter the color. Always have been and everyone dated had hair at least to their shoulders. I'm a sucker for blue/green eyes. I'm not positive what makes my periscope go up for a better look it just know what does . Hair and eyes ARE, girls with short hair, men, children, and farm livestock ARE NOT.
Lets be honest MOSTof the time looks is what grabs you first...Yea yea yea.... I've spoken for those first few minutes with cuties, walking away thinking....Damn, I wonder if I could talk her into getting a GED. I've also love to talk, and get into a really good conversation with some one with short hair and I find myself pondering romantic thoughts.
I confess I find a girl that I think is real attractive and has short hair, I find myself staring at her like a train wreck. My brain trying to process the intake. She notices my staring I will tell her ( not a cheesy pick up line) "Hey, I think your an attractive women that looks good in short hair"
For the record. I would date and/or marry a girl with short hair at a heartbeat, but very very rarely does a girl with short hair grab my attention. I'm still young enough to snap my neck on a women with a tight body. But it spins just as quick with a girl"s hair reguardless of how tall or short, or endowment.
I don't know why. It's just the processor that sends the info to the hard drive so to speak.  I have no control of it, and boy oh boy am I glad men,children, and farm animals DON'T

I cut my hair a few years ago and my boyfriend at the time *LOVED* It , which kinda surprised me because he was always a fan of longer hair. It's another one of those personal preferences but if someone will only date another person if they have long hair , well thats just a little ridiculous - we could all lose our hair at some point , you never know what lifes goinna throw at you. | |

Know in your heart that you are a good person, and that if someone stops talking to you after you have told them your story, they don't deserve you.
If it really makes you uncomfortable though, maybe invest in hair extensions, wefts, or a wig!
