FORUMS: Edit your own posts - How Do I?Page 1 of 1
I searched for an answer and had no luck.
Is there a way to edit your own post? Especially when you see that your spelling is wrong and you want to go back and fix your spelling error.
Thanks.

Is there a way to edit your own post?

For 15 Minutes right after you have posted your Message, and must be Forum Logged-in.

For new Members, at least 15 or so Posts are required first before the (Edit Post) Function becomes available to them.

Further, your Profile has to have been in Existence for at least 72 Hours.

For new members, at least 5 - 10 posts are required first before the "Edit" function becomes available to them.

That's insane. This forum is far from perfect and holds few of the accessibilities of other Internet forums as well as inconsistencies with typical forum designs such as case-sensitive mark-up tags, surely the people who require the ability to edit the most are those who have only just begun posting and don't yet understand the correct processes involved.

Surely with all the arguments that people have on these boards about spelling and mixed-communication you can see what an advantage an editing function would be to tackle these problems?

and also for you ...

The above thread was found in the following reference thread at the top of this forum:

as for the why - makes it easier for users to report obnoxious forum rule violators.

you mean this thread???

http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts8333745.aspx#8333745

you could go to the forum violations thread, give them that url, and ask them to delete your thread. i suggest you promise to never type without thinking (or your glasses - tho' i don't see how that connects...) again.

Hi:)

Something strange just happened to me. I just posted on a thread, and when I went to edit something I wrote right after I'd just posted it, it wouldn't let me. I pressed the edit button like I always do, and it brought me to a blank post, telling me I could only edit within 15 minutes of my post. ( something I'm well aware of:)

I also noticed that even though I posted at approx. 14:30, it says I posted at 11:33 am. I've noticed the time discrepancy before, but I've never been NOT able to edit my post:(

It's weird because I just posted to another thread before this one, and I had no problems editing that post.

I would appreciate any you could provide me with this:)

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Just for the record, I WAS able to edit this one....go figure....haha!!

Edit # 2: Never mind, I just got my answer:) I see that the thread I posted on was deleted by the time I was trying to edit.....that's why it woudn't allow me, it no longer existed....haha!

Thanks anyways:)

  • For new Members, your Profile has to have been in Existence for at least 72 Hours, and at least 10 - 12 Posts are required first before the ( Edit Post ) Function becomes available to them. As long as you are Forum Logged-in, you can "edit" your Post for up to 15 Minutes after you have posted your Forum Message.

  • You were logged out of the Forums after 15 Minutes of Inactivity and need to Forum Login again.

  • If you have Trouble logging into the Forums, try changing your Password.

  • You are running a buggy Browser or Malware-prone Spamfest such as Internet Explorer, who knows what temporary Hiccups may have occurred, such as pulling up cached Pages, reloading Issues, or something else that made it cough a little.

  • A Moderator may have temporarily edited a Post or locked a Thread while you tried to edit your Post.

  • The Userbase may have deleted the Thread, or a Moderator may have cleaned/deleted the Post, Page or Thread.

  • A Posting Overlap with the same TimeStamp.

  • Setting Changes have been made to your OS, Browser, Firewall, etc. in the Meantime which have not yet taken effect, often requiring the restarting of your Computer.

  • Heavy Site Traffic resulting in Session Expirations and bounced between POF Servers, ISP Issues, even right down to Wireless or loose Cable Connections.

If you look to your right when making a response, you will see the instructions above the emoticons. Use [ quote] and [ /quote]. No spaces between the brackets.

The 15 minute time limit for editing posts seems to now be 30 minutes.
