In my opinion, it is worth the time to get to know a person as a freind before getting involved with them - that way you can get to know their habits and so forth. His telling you may be his way of saying sorry babe - Im not interested in you that way and you know what - its fine to not to be as interested in you as you might think. Down the road you may come to realize wow he really wasnt worth your time and be thankful for not getting too involved in him and besides - this seems to be the common complaint amongst the male population of being interested in the female and the female thinking that the other is a better choice for them.
