| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/1/2006 7:35:46 AM | you can't find pop tarts in England? We still have them here in America-heck you can get 'em at the $ stores! Now that makes me want to go shopping.... | |
|
| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/1/2006 8:41:29 AM | ^^^I agree. You can't get away from Pop Tarts in America. There must be about 60 different flavors that you can get either frosted or unfrosted. They even have Star Wars, Darth Vader, Pop Tarts. (or "Dark Vader" as they call him in France)
OP, just to clarify the last member's post. Whenever he said that you can get them at the "$ stores", what he is referring to are stores where everything is only one dollar.

haha Nostfertu aka bald vampire cause ur english i had to explain .... Are you trying to call her "Nosferatu", as in the 1922 Vampire movie? The next time you are trying to insult someone, at least get the name of the character you are referring to correct. Besides, anyone that has 5 grammatical mistakes in a single sentence is not in a position to be insulting anyone else. You give Americans a bad name.
I wouldnt date u cause i like women that have femine features gargoyle Wow, there are six mistakes in this sentence (not counting spelling mistakes). Are you trying to spell famine? Because "femine" isn't a real word. Why would you want a woman who has features of a famine? Hey, but at least you spelled "gargoyle" correctly. Next week we will work on the word "Because"! I don't want to overwhelm you with too much information at once.

OT: I used to let my kids eat Pop Tarts like they were going out of style.....until after all these years I checked the fat grams--holy crap! Those things are loaded!

| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/1/2006 7:29:32 PM | Pop tarts...available here! Used to take them to school for a lunch treat, but kid of lost my taste for them. Same with those gross pizza pockets. Yuck!
I liked that Black Cat licorice gum...can never find it here anymore.
I see so many things here, its like a blast from the past during a shopping trip! I also see a lot of new stuff...some which sounds totally gross.
Anyone else notice that North Americans are moving more and more towards an "oriental" diet? Lots of "instant rice" stuff out there...more noodles and pastas, in many forms. More oddball veggies and fruits, catering to "foreign" tastes. (Some are good! Remember when eating chinese food was a treat? Today, it is more of an everyday occurance, even at home!) What happened to "meat and potatoes, by gawd!" The bacon and egg breakfast with toast, coffee, juice, pancakes, etc. Very few restaurants have that around here anymore, except in the cities where the competition keeps the prices down.
How about "lawn darts"? Illegal here, but I did see a set, still in the box, for sale at a flea market.
Hard to find a can of chili around here too. Caviar, I can find, but a can of chili? Forget it.
Wig-Wag bars...choclate covered toffee that was kind of "braided"...used to get them in winter, so they'd freeze in my hot little hands, then bite off a chunk to melt in my mouth...while losing a certain amount on the ground because it shattered in the cold.
Oh. yeah...the bickering here...got to say, some folks really should be on a thread of their own...maybe call it "The Bickersons" thread, and let them go at it! No holds barred! LOL!
|
| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/1/2006 8:03:11 PM | | I'll send yan6 some canned chili- OT- this is non edible kids, but what happened to colorforms? you remember those cheesy vinyl cutouts that you placed on an illustrated wax backdrop? You know what I'm talking about, Mickey Mouse, Batman, Star Trek.I need some more of those! | |
|

| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/1/2006 9:17:25 PM | no pop tarts in england?
wondering if your medical system is socialized?
maybe the government banned them because they are nothing but a heart attack waiting to happen.. trans fats, sugar and white flour...
not even real food.
If crushed up and water added and dried, they would make a fine kitty litter.

| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/1/2006 9:21:41 PM | 45 rpms; 33 1/3 records; 8 tract tapes; automobile clocks and speaker adjustments(front&, rear sound) that you can do without going to a school of electronics? I remember when cars had the regular clocks with a dial face, to set the time you turned a knob. Speaker were adjusted by turning a knob for front or rear sound..not that easy these days you have hold button "A", while you move button"B" and on and on..what's up with that? Another one : phone booths--I have not seen the new Superman movie ..where does Clark Kent change to become Superman??!! | |
|
| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/1/2006 9:34:34 PM | I buy them once every few months. The kids eat them as a snack. The oldest one will hide them from the younger ones, and I have to play ref. | |
|
| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/1/2006 9:34:39 PM | I had a "CHiPs" colorforms set.
I think the new, digital clocks in cars really are an improvement--the old style clocks were always the first thing to stop working.
Let's not talk about canned chili. In my freshman year at college, my roommate liked the stuff a little too much.
I haven't eaten pop-tarts for several years now, and I don't miss them. But, I've never been injured from them.
What's wrong with Ohio?
|
| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/1/2006 11:10:18 PM | Pop-tarts????
Well gag me with a spoon! I remember eating 1/2 of one when I was a kid...might as well given me a sugar bowl....same goes for KD....PLASTIC...ummm...foods? Not food, nor food-stuffs...more like stomach fillers....the more you eat, the more your stomach fills out! Or is that "spills out"!
Whatever happened to The Slinky? Remember?? Slinky, slinky, everyone loves a slinky...they make a bit of a come-back with the '60's style box....looked just like the original...
Whatever happened to in-depth, thought provoking, mainstream news? Now it seems to be sound bites to give one a "high"....just like that pop-tart gives one a sugar "high"!
The bacon and egg breakfast with toast, coffee, juice, pancakes, etc.
Otherwise known as the "heart attack breakfast"
45 rpms; 33 1/3 records; 8 tract tapes;
You forgot about 78's!

| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/2/2006 4:04:06 AM | Hey...the Cracker Barrell restaurants typically have Slinky's and other toys from past generations. :) Remember those little slide toys where you had a disc go back and forth and back and forth...wow...we were easily entertained! LOL Or the balls on the end of the string that we cracked and did fancy tricks with??
All you anti-Pop Tarters! LOL I still buy them for my 18 year old twins...they are something they can grab and eat on the run and they LIKE them! :)~ I refuse to buy the funny colored ones, however!
|
| whatever happened to~~~ Posted: 7/2/2006 4:15:20 AM | Hey Harley...just between you and me and the four walls, the Fudge Sundae Pop Tarts are pretty tasty :)
Ohio. What's wrong with Ohio one asked. This might be a topic for another thread, but here goes. 1. Most Ohioans I've ever met have had a southern 'accent'.....um.....you're not southern! 2. They totally messed up the last presidential election--they were 2004's Florida. And why a state that has that much industry would vote for a man who is in the process of eliminating all those industrial jobs in this country is beyond me. 3. Everyone knows Michigan football is better :) 4. They have mean cops on the toll roads. :(
