Writing to Candians from an American a turn off?
Posted: 7/5/2006 5:28:34 PM
Hello. I am from Vermont, USA I live about 10 minutes from Canada and about an hour from Montreal so a lot of my "local" people are candian, is that a turn off for the women when they check and see that I am american opposed to candian? Not talking about American bashing but just in general?

hey leadingedge04,

I don't think it's a turn-off that you are an American....but when I see guys are from out of town in general, usually seems like they are only looking for a casual hook-up while in town, know what I mean? Hey, I don't care what consenting adults do together....but anything that smacks of long-distance, does not appeal to me personally.

Just my $0.02!

Thanks for the replies. I often go to canada for the dentist, to use Montreal (YUL) airport, strawberries, shopping etc etc so I will write to the women over in Canada too, also they show up in my "local" area when doing a search.

No reason for it to be a turn off, unless you or they are way out of the age bracket. In fact many american men have more manners and more respect for women. The thing that would be a turn off would be a seriously Long Distance rel. They are high maintenance, and im not into wondering how my sweetie is etc. and th elonging for seeing him etc, its just too draining emotionally. But vermont is very close to montreal.:)

Hey simma, don’t care for what Damien has to say, he’s a fake profile, it’s easy to insult people when you have a fake profile, American’s don’t SUCK, Americans have no choice when it comes to war and have to risk there life. I’m a Canadian, but I respect the Americans, I just don’t like there leaders.

Who can take a sunrise - Sprinkle it with dew -
Cover it with chocolate and a miracle or two?
The Candian - oh the Candian can.
The Candian can 'cause he mixes it with love
and makes the world taste good.

Since I'm no women I cannot tell you if it's turn off directly but I can tell you what I "assume" is a fact.

First we canadians very much dislike the fact the you Americans are talked-in to war by your President like a bunch of "easily lead automatons" and to us it seems that the level of ignorance down in the states is pretty scary. We also have our ignorants here but our leaders don't seem to have yet found a way to totally "brainnwash" an entire society in order to lick the *ss of Sir W..

Another thing, US money would more likely be the fact that if you live 10 minutes from canada, you can therefore come around to spend your paycheck on "guns and needles" for pretty much twice what the average canadian could afford. Just to think of it, I'd like to make 1k/week instead of 500$.

In any case here's a couple advice I dig up for you in order to be more productive while in Canada.
- Face your self in a glass to realize you ain't better than any other nationality.
- Cut out the "war-mongering" stuff and start understanding politics.
- Give a break to Jesus, God and all that parody for catholic religion.
- And take down these #$#$? flags that everybody is tired to see in your movies.

Nothing personnal. :)

Sounds like Silentbob has a marked superiority complex... Which is odd, since his grasp of politics seems more akin to that of a small primate. To each thir own, i guess.

If there is chemistry, and the right vibe it doesn't matter where you're from. Earth preferably. You get the same amount of good guys, or jerks in any Nationality!! If you are a good guy, normal and nice you won't have a problem meeting Canadian women.

Good luck to you!

From a female perspctive, I think we're probably afraid that the "srupid American" thing is true. We also hate your president and don't understand how you voted him into office twice. For myself, I used to watch American shows and the Canada jokes are a little bit of a turn off, I mean, the igloos and shit? I've never even seen an igloo before. Stop making fun of us and voting for stupid presidential candidates and we'll get to talking.

Well *we* voted for "Cretin" twice, and then elected his lap-dog Martin into office; the two key perpetraitors of the biggest tax fraud/scandal in canadian history. Then of course we have the separatist parti quebecois who've been trying to (openly) rip Canada apart for their own selfish purposes. How many times have *they* been elected into office?

Trust me, we have our own fair share of idiots; perhaps we're just jealous of our american cousins because we haven't been able to elect anyone capable of blatant genocide on a global scale... Yet

Personnally I see nothing wrong with that.

I drive to the USA all the time; because of my profession. And then there is your variety of people. If you live in a town where the population is mostly 70 000 people like Burlington; then yes; a wider variety is better. It's not a matter of who has the hotter women. It's a matter of who are the most fun to hang out with.

For two years; I tried dating french canadian women. I didn't work out; didn't like going to movies to listent to something translating into french.

I'm still new at dating the anglophone women in my area; which is the Montreal/Laval and Laurentian area. Finding a match for me will be challenging.

As far as small towns are concerned; have you ever heard of a small town of 46 000 called Corwall Ontario. I lived there for 18 years. There was nothing exciting in that town; and there still isn't 15 years later. All the good looking women have fled off to bigger cities like Ottawa; Montreal or Toronto; where the jobs are at. Most of the local women; are probably married; divorced; or single parents; which pretty much narrows down the selection process.

TO ALL YOU CANADIAN PEOPLE OUT THERE; stop knocking down on the yanks. They are some of the friendliest people on the planet. Things might have been sour since 2003; but have improved since 2006. So what if they are good at athletics; allthough they no longer rule as basketball; they are a proud people; and there's no crime in being proud.

In my 6 constant years of travelling in the states; the only hostility I was was from redneck truck drivers; trailer park trash; crackers. Only twice I've had people tell to my face; that they hated canadians. Perhaps due to a minor indiscretion. Their attitude have changed; even so the so-called red states are now seeing blue; and they know the mistakes they've made polically.

If you go in a chat room; like yahoo or myspace; yes you will have some of these jackasses rub a little friction on you. Don't let the yanks in chat irritate you.

TO THE AMERICANS; may you enjoy what the city of Montreal have to offer.

To Leading Edge;

maybe you should tell them; I live 30 minutes south of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu; or I'm a 45 minute ride south of Chambly QC on the AUT 35 and the 133.

Gives more of a local feeling.

It's like me telling a woman living in Lyndhurst New Jersey; saying; you know where Albany NY is? I'm a 4 hour drive north; on I-87.

You don't have to disclose your nationality; only mention that you're local. Oh.. if you have MS Streets and Trips with GPS on your laptop; that works great for navigating too; when going to these meetings.

Perhaps you should ask Lauren for an invitiation to participate at the Local Get Togethers.

Aime
