| What's the ratio of Michigan men to women on this site?
Posted: 7/11/2006 11:40:10 AM | | Iv'e been told that the overall ratio is something like 1.2/1 but I find this very hard to believe, for Michigan in particular. If I conduct an advanced search for women and then change only man looking for woman to woman looking for man, I get back 3-4 times the hits. Anyone have any idea? Does this vary by age group? | |

Go to a Club, Church, Shopping, almost anywhere I think visually it is more men to women. but that is just my take on it. | |

Maybe I’ve been going to the wrong places because I almost never see more women than men anywhere other than church and work (I work primarily in hospitals and health centers). Certainly nothing like 2 to 1. Milan is not too far from Ypsilanti. If you know of some places where the ratio of single women to men is 2 to 1 let me know. | |

Posted: 7/20/2006 3:42:02 PM | I hate to tell you but the University of Michigan did a study on this last year. The results came back in age groups, but in my group it was 6.7 men to 1 woman. I am a numbers man and the odds of a sucessfull relationship for my age group is like 1 chance in 440. But we all have to keep trying.

do a seach for women 25 to 50 with NO restrictions
then do one for men the same ages
you'll get at LEAST 3xs+ the amount of men
this goes for ANY of the dating sites -

Church Groups.... The singles groups I have always attended TONS OF WOMEN some men.
If you are looking for a good one and you are interested Check out Northridge Church in Plymouth... Huge singles groups.
Another place Bars, I use to go to the Edge (not sure what it is called right now) it is near Big Lots in Ypsilanti, and there still more girls then men. Though I would say I think that attracts older men and younger girls... not sure if that is what you are looking for.
Another thing I have noticed that even if there is a large number of Guys, most of them are married in public to single women.
I have belonged to many groups where there were tons of men, just each one was married, So try looking at wedding rings, you will find not so many guys who should be looking out there.
And HEY! Where are these places that are packed with men???? Would love to visit. | |

Gloryanna – try just about any bar/club in Ypsilanti or Ann Arbor and you’ll generally find more men than women. These are primarily college places so that may not be what you’re looking for. I’ll have to check out the Edge. I don’t live far from there but have never been.
I agree with you about the church groups, they do tend to have a lot more women than men. But I have to find a church that I feel comfortable going to in general because I would hate to hang out at a church primarily to pick up women. | |

In my experience with dating sites. About 6 of 10 that claim to be single are actually married and looking for strange. Yes, I am sure women do it too...But, I doubt as often.....Why? Because, as I keep stating....Men and women are wired differently when it comes to the love/sex thing. | |

Posted: 7/24/2006 6:06:27 AM | Well if you are willing to go to a church I would say check out Northridge, it is large enough where you wouldn't stick out. When I use to go there was about 300 singles. I stopped going due to free time. They meet every other Saturday at 7pm, they have even have dinner for $5 if you are interested. They have a Short worship service, and mini sermonate focues on being single. here is the link below to check it out if anyone of you are interested.

As for Bar scenes, the problem with them is I am not interested in a man that is 10 yrs younger then me. Well I guess I enjoy the eye candy, but I would want to date them. | |

This does not conform to population statistics where there is an excess ratio of women to men, particularly with advancing age. My theory is that men have more access to the internet, are more prone to us it for dating to begin with and that there are large numbers of men who are using it inappropriately (ie married). | |

Posted: 10/1/2006 6:04:37 AM | I doubt that disproportionate access is a significant factor. I think there are about as many sleazy married women as men trolling these waters.
I tend to believe the theory that women just don't try dating sites to the same extent that men do. I also suspect they give it up more quickly after a bad experience. | |
