| Tattoos Posted: 7/11/2006 11:45:13 AM | just curious as to which kinds of tattoos people like, what kind they have, and to which part of the body they find most appealing.
I am getting a tattoo soon on my lower back and in-between my 2 hip bones. Just wondering what are some other good for women to get tattos who want the ability to cover it up when needed.

| Tattoos Posted: 7/11/2006 11:49:46 AM | | I have a tat on my right ankle,,moon & stars, not large. Have had it for about 10 years. Wish now that I didn't. I really like them, but wish I hadn't done it. Be very sure about what you get as a tat, and think about it when you get older. | |

| Tattoos Posted: 7/11/2006 11:51:58 AM | | Yeah my mom has one and she wishes it wasn't there either....I am definitely getting them in almost discrete places, easy to cover up by wearing sleeves; longer shirts.... | |

*LMAO* Isn't it all about the pain??
I've personally floundered with the idea of getting one, but never really found anything meaningful enough to me to want it on my skin. I've had ppl design tats for me, or suggest I choose my kids names or something, but for me, artwork can be framed and I carry my kids names in my heart and don't need to show it off... I look at it like something that will be there for the rest of my life and it has to mean something deep and soulful to me.
I've seen alot of people get them for different reasons... trend, a design they like, they like the feel of getting them... but for me, I tend to have more respect for those that get something that means something deep and personal to them...

| Tattoos Posted: 7/11/2006 12:23:01 PM | Anywhere, where you are very sensative will hurt..or not alot of muscle/fat
the lower back will hurt in some areas, but won't in others...
shoulders and biceps(with the exception of the under area) will not hurt as much...
It's all pending on body type...it may not hurt for you, but will for another..
but as for feet hurting the most, yes it's fairly true, you're feet are probably the most sensative areas in your entire body...as for chest..again depends on muscle size up in that area...
But they are addictive..I've got 4 already I've limited myself to 1 a year...lol

| Tattoos Posted: 7/11/2006 12:29:40 PM | I have a rose on my right back shoulder to which I got at 19 years of age and then I got a custom one of an angel and a devil in the horizontal bop position last summer after I left my husband! He was totally against me getting another one, so it was the first thing I did after he left and I emailed it to him!!! :)
The rose has no significance whatsoever, but the angel/devil represents that I can be both a sweetheart and a biotch (when need to be)!

| Tattoos Posted: 7/11/2006 2:03:32 PM | | Pain in tattooing is relative to body area. Any area not covered by fat or muscle has a potential to be painful. The "most painful" areas are over nerve plexes...i.e. armpit (nerve plexus called the subaxillary bundle) lower back (called the lumbar plexus), etc. Lots of nerve endings = more pain, depending on your threshold. If you want a tattoo, talk to a REPUTABLE artist, and do some research on the body area you want done. Remember this, though....Pain is what you make it. | |

I have to say that my hip hurt more then my foot or toe.

| Tattoos Posted: 7/11/2006 2:39:18 PM | Pain is as individual as the people who experience it. My custom "Scuba Frog" is over the left shoulder blade, and there was no pain. The experienced ones there when I had it done told me that it was too close to the bone.
As for cover up areas, there are some that are revealed only when you want. The outside of the heel, can be covered with sockettes. The bikini line, only revealed when you feel comfortable. Plunge line, again only revealed to special persons. Off centre on the glutes, depending what type of bikini you wear.
Good luck, and definitely choose a reputable artist.

| Tattoos Posted: 7/11/2006 2:55:06 PM | I have 3, all dragons, 1 on each shoulder and 1 on my lower back, symolizes my birthsign. I'm an Aries and thought I would do something different. None of them hurt, and when I asked why, I was told it was the artists touch, they don't have to be painfull. | |

Word of caution on the lower back area. In the event you wish to have kids, anaesthesiologists (excuse the spelling) are cautious in giving epiderals through tattoos. And speaking of a woman who's had 2 kids, epideral is nice option.
