Posted: 7/11/2006 2:53:35 PM | We in the Tampa and St Pete area are holding a party for the people in the Tampa/ St Pete area. No offense but this is for locals. I know it will not be 400 people but thats the point. We want to meet local people and make some local friends. The party will be Aug 12 at FT Desoto Park. The exact area will be reserved July 12th. Please let us know if you are coming, by posting here you are saying you are coming. The plan is to play games, frisbee, horse shoes, etc and people can cook out or BYO. So please tell me what you could bring. If you have questions email me. We are looking for 20 to 50 people.

setup for this that the whole idea was to get "LOCAL" folks introduced to other
"LOCAL" folks. Nothing seperatists. There is no reason that you or someone
near you can't do the same in your area. I mean if someone meets someone
that they want to date then how inconvenient is it if they live 3 or 4 hours apart?
So again, don't take it personal. It's a meet and greet type of thing if I understand
it correctly. I don't think that you would be turned away if you drove 3 or 4 hours
anyway.
I'm not sure that I will be able to make it, but I have it on my calendar. Sounds like fun.

Posted: 7/14/2006 3:02:05 PM | Gary...You are correct that was the whole idea about this, it wasn't meant to hurt anyone's feelings. We enjoy talking with everyone on the site we talk with. It was just a MEET and GREET thing for some of us wanting to meet people in our LOCAL area. Some of us were interesting in getting to meet and know people locally, so we could do other things than just this party. Like maybe just go to a movie with a new friend we had meet at the party. With people from faraway it is kinda hard to do that. Also some of us just aren't into driving long distances or cannot.
Plus if we are going to date someone we would rather it be someone closer, because of the distance. Some people love long distance relationships, but some of us just would rather date someone closer to us.
No I don't think someone would be turned away if they wanted to drive the distance. But as of now I have heard that the party maybe cancelled. So please keep looking for posts on what is going to happen.
Rockstar1 was working very hard on this and wasn't trying to offend anyone, I know that for sure. | |

Well all anyone needs to do to get this party to happen is reserve the spot, the one I had doing that hasnt got back to me. Everything else is there for someone to run with. I really wanted this to happen but I didnt know people would get so upset AND there were alot of suggestions sent to me even after I said this was 90% set up. So the ideas are there for lots of Tampa/St Pete/ Statewide partys so anyone feel free to get it going. | |

I don't live that far from Ft. Desoto. Don't worry about the few who are "upset"
about it being a local thing. Many of them could likely be a no show because of the distance.
Sounds like a great idea Rockstar. Hopefully you get some help with this - who knows, might be
able to do it more often.

Yeah I wouldnt take it personally- very good idea to try and keep it "local". Look at whats happening in Lakeland ...over 400 people? Keeping it local is keeping it simple, which will make things run smoother and less chance of things getting out of hand. I doubt if there is an ID/residency check, but yeah, don't take it personally that "far-ners" are not encouraged. LOL | |

North Beach has the pavillions with grills. There is also some grills
not under pavillions. Then there is the picnic area across the road from
North Beach parking that is under trees. Weekends can fill up fairly quickly.
Hell, people can bring folding chairs, portable grills, a few folding tables, umbrellas or
canopies - and Whalla! Instant party.
