| | Has anyone else gotten this on im on a dating site, and what do you thinkPage 1 of 2 (1, 2) | I have been on a couple dating sites, mainly because between working and home I do not get to meet anyone. I am kind of a homebody, and I don't go to bars.
I absolutly hate this, esp when it is someone from hundreds of miles away, and they im you and you do the normal three sentence Hi how are you, ect and then they say What are you wearing.
I am like OMG, Some of these guys are really handsome. Great profiles, and then that damn question. Am I the only one who just ends the conversation at that point, or what. Please tell me your point of view.
Thanks

I think nearly everyone has had that type of IM conversation happen. I think it's an expected side effect to the world of Internet dating.........not saying it's right, or even needs to be tolerated. Just that it happens.........a lot. lol

So they only know how you look....that's not enough for me...

This is a free website ... you have to look at it as social networking and have fun.
A lot of us hang here when we feel like vegging ... or taking a break ... come to play on the forums .. look at the pictures and read profiles ...
Not just to get a date.
If you are bored some night and only had email/IM marriage proposals from a bunch of unworthy local men. Say hi back to one these handsome faraway men :)

There are a lotta guys on here that are only looking for instant gratification, and a little 'spice' to their uh...hornymone issues. The types that are into this, just aren't the type I want to waste my time on, and I too laugh them off. I suppose it's their perogative to do so...and i'm sure there are more than enough of that type of woman around for them to message, and I simply tell them so.

Instant Messaging is annoying...If you want to talk to me (as friends), email. I think it's rude, actually -- you don't know if the time is convenient for the person you're IMing, etc.

We get it here and through just about any other program that allows you to send some form of communication. I rarely open my yahoo anymore because there are a couple a day there. Though lord knows how they find you.
I've yet to figure out why anyone would think someone would want to chat with a random stranger, usually without a pic or a profile??
Sometimes its good for a few laughs though. They get incredibly offended when you don't jump because they said boo. You don't even have to be rude and some of them go off.
I've always maintained that it takes 3 sentences to tell what a guy is looking for. I guess they don't like to waste anytime...

he he hehehe So um... he heheh he he um... he he he what ARE you wearing hehe he he he hehehehehe.....
Really some of the ladies here need to lighten up some. If some guy IM's with that question at least have some fun with him. Tell him your wearing combat fatigues and that your getting ready to go on a military excersize to kill off all the perves.
Or better yet tell them.. some ppl just finished putting on your straight jacket and will be locking you up in your padded room...
But really if such a thing REALLY bothers you then why even keep IM on at all? Turn it off and let your friends on here reach you by some other method.

Nothing like having a window slammed on your fingers, though, to turn someone off, I suppose.

I was just thinking the same thing .... why set up guys to IM then hang up and piss them off ... when she could just turn it off ... some kind of sick joke?

As far as I know, the only way to turn off the IM is to hide my profile -- which I don't want to do. I wasn't aware that I enabled it to begin with.
If there's another way, please enlighten me!
EDIT: Nevermind; a friend helped me out with it...No more annoying popups!!
