Alright, so I've lived in/around this lovely city for nearly 21 years, born and raised. Now, I'm sure many of you have lived around here much longer than that ( ), and I've decided to put forth a question, in the interest of 'sharing the wealth of knowledge' you might have. Question is this:

What are your favourite:
a) delis/restaurants/cafes/hot dogs stands/etc
b) theatres/galleries/poetry jams/etc
c) trails/parks/caves/etc
d) stores/boutiques/blanket sales/etc
e) (le random)

...that aren't marked in the tourist books? I work in a restaurant in a prime tourist location, and when they ask me about places to go, I find I'm almost reluctant to share some of my favourites...does that make me just a little evil? But, since I've managed to overcome it (sometimes), I'm hoping you will too! Share with everyone! (namely, me)

A couple of mine, to get things rolling -

a) La Galleria in Edgemont Village, North Vancouver - best sandwiches you'll ever eat, I promise you. I recommend the prosciutto, but that might be my Italian half spreading bias. If you go at lunch, you can call in your order, or you're facing a loooong line-up, and the sometimes possible tragedy that they'll run out of baguettes!
**and**
c) J'adore the Nitobe garden on UBC campus, when it's not busy. Also (though I hate to share), the little garden across from the art gallery steps is a heavenly break from the crowds on Robson. Grab a hot dog, run up there, and just decompress. Dundarave Beach after dark...not as busy once the sun goes down as Ambleside, and a lovely spot to sit and think.
**and**
e) A seabus ride when it's raining. Driving down 10th Ave in the fall. The Blarney Stone on Saturday nights. Calhouns all night long.

Please share!
