| What foods are you allergic too?
Posted: 7/31/2006 8:50:05 PM | I went and got allergy testing. Nurse kept saying "Oh my!!" Finally she stated "It will be easier for me to tell you what youre NOT allergic to: 3 kinds of mold!" Ewww....just doesnt sound all that appetizing!
What I was most allergic to, however, is the "birch tree" family- which means no raw apples, pears, etc. for me - ever!! This is a bummer. I get immediate extreme itching from my throat to my ears- and tightness in my chest. Its painful and unpleasant. If I eat dairy products its affects my breathing, but not too severely. I also break out sometimes- eczema- on hands but its not that bad. Maybe thats not from food though- but my gold ring. I'm such a high class chick I really need 18 kt or higher!! LOL
The allergist said to just eat small amounts of foods that I am allergic to- but if I am allergic to everything, how can this be done?! | |

Apparently some allergy's can come from an illness you might of had as
a child.You're body's imune system would react to whatever you're allergic to
as if you were having that illness again and therefore make you sick. I think
they were talking about airborn allergy but there weren't any specifics.
I have a little alergy to Lilac, but would probably need to snif a whole tree
get a reaction. | |

Posted: 8/1/2006 5:32:16 AM | | As a kid, I had measles, mumps,chix pox, and German measles, and asthma. Could be why I have so many allergies. Also could explain how I became deaf. Both my parents were "hearing", but my father died when I was a toddler, and mom remarried very soon afterwards- to a deaf man with many allergies. Then I becamse deaf....so maybe allergies and deafness is not only hereditary, but contagious. :-) | |

Science is there's a bunch of people constantly trying to prove the other person
wrong, so a scientific answer as the more chances of not staying valid too long
unless it realy is.
I'm alergic to dark energy, it makes me do stupid things. | |

Posted: 8/1/2006 8:24:50 AM | I was diagnosed with Celiac disease recently so I cannot have ANYTHING with gluten in it and that list is a LONG one.
Dairy is another I have to avoid because I get congested when I eat it but once in a while I have to cheat and have a Tim Hortons Ice Cap or some sugar free ice cream. | |

Posted: 8/2/2006 6:17:28 PM | | Allergic to shellfish as of 12 years ago and truly do miss it. Going into anaphylactic shock wasn't so great but still miss the shrimp on the bbq a lot. Also allergic to celery, tomatoes, yeast, sugar, aspartame and coffee. I just get hives or upset stomach from these so I eat them if I feel like it but too afraid to try any shellfish ever again. | |

Posted: 8/3/2006 5:12:28 AM | | As a child I recall being allergic to so many different foods, that I wasn't able to eat out or at other peoples homes because my parents were always worried that I'd eat something I shouldn't. Still to this day, I'm allergic to alot of different foods, but the major ones that still bother me badly are: Chocolate, tomatoes (in any form), pineapple, and nuts. | |

Posted: 8/5/2006 10:26:15 AM | | When I was younger I remember being allergic to all sorts of food like bread, eggs, milk/milk products, etc. I am still allergic to some yeast like brewer's yeast which is used in beer and some other alcoholic beverages and I can eat eggs now but I cannot get the flu shot as it makes me worse off then if I was to get the flu itself....and very now and again my allergy to milk and milk products comes back. My son has the weirdest of food allergies I personally have ever heard of he is allergic to rice....doctors say it's like the number one thing babies are not allergic to and well he is....lots of label reading for me | |

Posted: 8/5/2006 2:29:27 PM | I discovered that I developed an allergy to bananas about 3 years ago-quite shocking to watch my mouth swell up. Thought it was a fluke so about 3 months later tried to eat one again-and it got worse!!! I also find that cinnamin gum is pretty hard on my mouth-which totally sucks cuz I love it...I can usually get away with chewing one peice then thats it, anymore and my mouth gets quite agitated.
Other than that...no allergies to food I am aware of. | |

I haven't been diagnosed with Celiac disease yet but am showing all the symptoms. I try to stay away from as much as I can but it is hard with gluten being used as fillers in everything. I have a blood test - nothing showed so now they have to go deeper inside. Dairy is another for me as well, leaves me with a post nasal drip so I don't bother with the milk, ice cream once in a while and little cheese products.
Sucks to have those problems. | |

certain hotdogs i can't eat because of a preservative in it - so i stick to turkey ones
(only beef ones make me sick)
that's all i've discovered so far.. lucky me i suppose | |
