| Why Do Guys Quit Dancing after 40? Posted: 7/19/2006 6:59:13 PM | First off, hello to everyone! I'm just curious as to why guys my age or even younger aren't into dancing after they turn a certain age and kind of let themselves go? I love dancing to funk, r&b, and yes, hip hop! I grew up in Los Angeles so dancing is a must but most guys here -are either into rock and roll or just going to movies so this means that I don't date much at all. I simply attend my AA dance functions where groups of people can dance together so it doesn't matter that you aren't with a date. When I ask a fella, as part of a conversation, if they like dancing, they either say 'No, I'm too old for that now," or "yah, but only after a few drinks. So, I stick to hanging with my friends and my AA dances " | |

BTW, there a lots of people who don't drink at the events...and it's not an AA gathering...

Watching old men dance is funny. Not that 40 is old. You know what I mean. Most of them just kind of...shuffle.

Nothing has changed just because you turned 40, same person you always were...you don't start breaking hips until you're falling outta wheelchairs...or is it, you break your hip and then fall outta the wheelchair?
It must be your crowd you hang with....cause I think more people dance after they've "grown up" cause they don't care anymore how they look dancing...they just wanna have fun...
~meaning~they just wanna get laid...they aren't stupid....

| Why Do Guys Quit Dancing after 40? Posted: 7/20/2006 8:53:22 AM | Just a thought:
Whether they admit it or not, 85-90% of guys who dance do it because they believe it will increase their chances of getting laid. I think most women, if they are being honest, would agree that it often does.
That said, by 40 most men have had their share of wild sex and have probably figured out ways to get it doing things they actually enjoy. Also, a lot of women who date men that age may have a higher drive than those 40 yr old men lol.
I can say as well that at 40, I don't necessarily like the music I run into as much as what was played when I was 20something. It does matter---before I usually would dance only (1) if I really liked the girl I was with and (2) if I really liked the music. Now that I'm 41, yeah, I'll dance at weddings, or if out with a woman who is insane for it, but it's never been one of my favorite things to do and at 41, perhaps I'm more honest about it.

Blew out both knees in recent years doing sports ( damn body didn't know it couldn't do those things anymore) so dancin' is not what it used to be, one dip and we're horizontal...............wait maybe that's a good thing?

| Why Do Guys Quit Dancing after 40?.....They Don't !!! Posted: 7/20/2006 5:45:32 PM | I"m over 40 and I went to my first POF function last week. I never danced a bit. Hated all of it, but BigTallDancer sure was moving that dance floor.
You do need to attend a POF function if you want to see men over 40 *shake it*

that's because hip-hop and R&B aren't music. funk...well...i have a weak spot for Parliment.
but seriously. hip-hop is just someone talking over a beat and a ripped-off hook, so that can't possibly be music, and R&B? don't get me started. R&B used to mean "Rhythm & Blues". today's pre-packaged tripe barely qualifies for "rhythm" and wouldn't know "blues" if it came up and sat on it's face.
hip-hop & R&B are the two reasons left behind 9 years of DJing. if the music scene ever decides to go back to being at least somewhat decent i might go back to it, but as it sits now, we'll just let the twinks have their garbage.

| Why Do Guys Quit Dancing after 40? Posted: 7/23/2006 12:22:03 PM | Well, personally I'll dance when I'm having a good time.. that said I work in a night club and don't exactly get the chance to dance that often. I DJ on the weekends at the club and, if I can sneak in a bit of a dance between songs that's cool... but I honestly love playing and selecting the music that'll make women go out there and dance, shake it, grind, just have a great time in general...
