| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/21/2006 6:53:15 AM | Hell is separation from God. A place of darkness and coldness, nothing. Independance, and God is there, but you cannot know it, unless you are shown mercy. A place where people are blinded and in the presence of the author of fear, and humiliated being told what they deserve for the sins committed because of the pressures the torturers/accusers output. Instead of being called "son of God" they are called "son of satan", and cruely. Accusation there are true. In heaven not the cheering angels or a throne for you or friends you saved being there, glorification or the beauty... but Jesus looking at you, and saying into your heart and conscience, you are my faithful brother, a truely loving one.. that is your reward. Hell is the opposite, in power.

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/21/2006 7:11:48 AM | The Puritan Matthew Henry described Hell as pain in perfection. Hell has also been described as a place where a person receives no mercy from God. On this earth, everyone receives at least God's common grace through rising of the sun, the falling of the rain, etc. Some receive God's saving grace.
The descriptions of Hell in the Bible are not literal as Hell is beyond human description. It is a place of horror where God pours His wrath upon sinners. The Puritans believed that the torment of Hell was the wrath of God. People believe that God is not present in Hell and that the devil and the demons torment the damned. That can't be true because they are tormented themselves forever and ever.
Those in Hell will know that their sentence in just. The Puritans believed that the sinners' own conscience would torment them in Hell.
The theologian C.S. Lewis said that Hell is the only prison where the doors are locked from the inside.
Hell is unending because God is eternal. God's justice demands that He punish sin forever.
Death is separation from God.

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/21/2006 7:41:41 AM | | your not entirely separated from God (God rules everywhere) but its very far...as if God was a candle in space...I believe that Hell is not eternal but that you stay there until God decides youve done your time, and nobody can possibly know when God will decide to call them so thats why its "eternal"...in a sense... | |

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/21/2006 11:51:50 AM | I was tempted to place a sarcastic post such as Hell ya!
However, I agree with mencer somewhat, how can one be separate from God, when he is everywhere?
I don't agree that you stay there until your time is up though. Hell, to me, is your own mindset and your own construct, whether in this life or another. I believe that forgiveness is yours for the asking and freely given at any time, a get out of jail free card, so to speak.

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/21/2006 4:43:48 PM | Hell is separation from your true nature: not living in accord with your true self, following a delusion and losing awareness of insight into reality.
If we are god - which I believe is true in a certain sense even though god as an entity does not exist in my worldview - then yes, hell is separation from god, because it is separation from ourselves and our community of beings.

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/21/2006 5:34:05 PM | | Nothing is seperate from GOD, he is part of our genetic make up. There has got to be a molecular structure in every peice of matter in the Universe that is identical. I bet it would match Christ's DNA. | |

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/21/2006 5:48:02 PM | No the old test declares that God would find you wherever you are ? its says if you rode on a horse he would follow you there ,if you went to the ends of the earth he would be there ,and finally he said if you where in hell he would be there with you,i dont remember the chapter but if you want to find just look.also references to the rich man speaking to god ! god is truley every where .
OP: The only true seperation from god will be when hades or hell and the fallen are cast into the lake of fire ,according to theolgy which is to say thell be blotted out of existance forever.

hell is separated from our world , its a place of darkness where evil is so present that NO ONE can escape judjment there, nobody is fortunate in hell.....and in the Bible Jesus says that you dont get out of hell "until you pay the last penny"....these are his very words! but those who say that hell is forever are so ignorant about God..he would never punish anyone for eternity...so much people believe that and its sadly a terrible way to distort the Bible and confuse other christians...

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/22/2006 6:33:15 AM | God is good, all good and no evil comes from Him, I am sure He does not pour out wrath on those in Hell.
God started with nothing, those in Hell have nothing and are blind. They don't have God's goodness.
Psalm 139 is about where God is, and it says as above, to the ends of the earth, thou art there, but regarding Hell, it just says "thou".
I believe that in the resurrection, Jesus made a Way out of Hell to heaven. He is the Way.

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/24/2006 9:43:57 PM | Interesting topic. Actually, nowhere does the Bible describe hell as separation from God. Since scripture says that God holds all things together and all things depend on Him, there is no reason to believe that God also maintains hell. God is love, but He is also a God of justice and wrath, and since he promises to punish evil, there is no reason to doubt that hell does exist and that many many people will go there, and after death will be there eternally to suffer. I will just cite a few texts for you all.
Mt 25:46 “Then they (here meaning those who reject Christ) will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
Gal 5:19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; Gal 5:20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions Gal 5:21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
And then finally. Jesus said: Mt 7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. Mt 7:14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
There are many other references to hell in the New Testament, but I thought I would keep this post short and too the point.
I will finish up with a question, Do you think anyone actually goes to hell to suffer forever? Take people like Stalin or Hitler or Sadaam. If you think some people do go to hell, how bad do they have to be to get there??

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/25/2006 2:58:17 PM | | Considering Hell was the Norse Goddess of the Earth (also known as Ka) and the Our Father states "On Earth as it is in Heaven", I think the only seperation between Hell and God is defined by Pagan Government. GOD they ain't. | |

God is good, all good and no evil comes from Him,
So.....Who created the devil then? And why the heck do preachers keep getting caught diddling little kids? Sounds pretty evil to me! You can't have good without evil so as soon as this god created light, he also created darkness.

.and in the Bible Jesus says that you dont get out of hell "until you pay the last penny Wow, they had pennies in the bible days? According to the bible, god created satan because there was corruption in heaven which god could not control. MMMMM, there seems to be alot of corruption with religion in general. So gods palace was corrupted and turned his angel into a serpant which should be striketh with thyn heel of thyn foot. Interestingly, satan is not in hell but talking to adam and eve into becoming smart. If god did all of these huge miracles and personally spoke to a number of people and performed mighty miracles, how did the world become so corrupt right away? Because a serpant told them to? Good vs. bad dates way back and even to this day. Do you not think that if the devil was cast into a lake of fire for millions of years that he would have learned his lesson already? God is all about punishment and torture because thats what he feeds from otherwise he would show a great miracle that everyone can see. Then people would actually believe those fairy tales in the bable.

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/26/2006 2:09:45 AM | HAHA learn your bible abit there... according to the bible it doesent state the creation of lucifer... i think u may of been reading to much Miltons paradise lost or listening to the wrong people.
and adam and eve eating the fruit open there eyes to good and evil. before then they only knew good. and with knowing evil we can now perform it, and we must all admit doing the wrong thing sure is tempting isent it? i know it is. And the devil is of yet to be cast away... if you read your bible which im sure you havent, the devil is called king of the skies, pretty much the earth is his playground.... the greatest miracle of all is for you too believe, if not thats your choice. God wants you to choose him, like any friendship the other wants you to choose them not make you be with them... well any sane friendship. it just so happens that hell is the seperation from God, your choice not to believe. and it is all up to you, not to God. well ofcourse you would say well why cant he make me believe if he is real, well thats free will right?

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/26/2006 2:13:22 AM | | Oh and about your argument about if u can leave hell or not, good luck... once your there your there, i know it sucks but its the truth. it says forever and ever. not just sometime, or for alittle bit. its called the second death. | |

Lucifer devised evil, he wanted independance and to take the position of God. He invented lies through to murder. God gave Lucifer a free will. It happened that some free willing creatures chose evil. God knew they would. There were many options of creations, and I think God chose the least effective evil.
Lucifer challenges all with flesh that eventually all with flesh sin. And are his children.
Preachers who diddle with little ones should at least be suspended for three years.

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/26/2006 11:16:41 AM | I'm really curious, and a lot confused.......
Are we talking about a Christian hell? Do other faiths define hell at all? Is there a generic hell for non Christians?
Exactly what is hell? Is it as defined by the movie Constantine? Does anyone actually KNOW?
It got me thinking about a comment someone told me. He said that certain suicide bombers willingly gave their lives as they were promised seven virgins when they reached heaven. Now, who's idea of heaven is this? As someone who believes in monogomy, I have to reasonably conclude that female members of that same faith would also believe in monogamy, and the seven virgins concept of heaven would certainly feel like hell for me. So a man's heaven would be a women's hell. Sounds very strange to me. Religion is sometimes very awkward, isn't it?

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/26/2006 3:43:11 PM | | to be honest im not sure what other views of hell are with other religions entirely, but most of them dont believe in such a place, why? why would u want you? most ppl wouldent want to deal with the fact that there is place where ppl go for torment of the soul for ever and ever. its easier not to believe in a hell then it is too believe in hell. as for the seven virgins things that come from the Ilsamic area weather its actally in the Islam book or not is another question. You look through history though and you see many ppl extorting religion, Hitler did it, the american govt does it, and middle eastern countries do it too. thats mans fault not Gods fault. and most likey if you end up in heaven i doubt you would have to worry about being 1 of 7 women fighting over a man, in heaven all is equal. anways you if want to learn more about heaven and hell i suggest you open up a bible, and read for yourself... maybe read revaltion and look in the appendix on the subject of heaven and hell to make it quick. and yes religion can be very awkward, but thats also why many christians stay away from the organized part of it... its all based on a personal relationship with you and Jesus, no one else, no priests, no fathers, no obligations except for faith in that relationship with Jesus. christianity is quite simple actually, it all comes down to your relationship with Jesus and thats it, the rest comes with it. | |

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/27/2006 2:07:26 AM | Since ancient times people pondered the question of death and afterlife. So there were various beliefs about an underworld. In Egypts and Greece... You remember Hades. The ancients had a god who went there and came back to life, and Apollo who ascended into heaven... according to myth. Jesus out did them by fully accomplishing all the tasks of God.
The ancient sadducees did not believe in the human spirit and then not in Hell. I think the Hindus believe in Karma, with no afterlife. Also reincarnation.
There is a website you can find on google about the after life in "near death experiences". NDEs and I saw and heard Dirk Willner and there is http://www.aglimpseofeternity.com
One friend of mine, a nice lecturer, died and went down, and returned.

| Is Hell, Separation from God? Posted: 7/27/2006 2:09:30 PM | Metaphorically 'Hell' or 'hell' can be whatever you believe it to be, but I assume (from the scriptures I've studied) it is a reference to death, but also death is not being separated from God because God has everyone in mind... dead or alive.
So the answer is no. | |
