Surely, it's just a matter of opinion and everyone's is different. Some of the most beautiful people I've ever known are a tad obese. Putting this is the same ball park as 9/11 seems ... well ... absurd (to say the least).

I expect it to replace the smoking issue in 5 yrs. or so. Not gonna quit smoking this week myself, but I'm laying off the butter and mashed taters to be ready for the next "wave" ... (lol).

However, spending too much time reading medical reports, has taught me that obesity has taking over from smoking for a cause of death in North America by a large percentage.
While media hype can get boring, I have noticed the obesity hype over the last few years has drastic impacted fast food and prepared foods in a very possive way.
My work makes it necessary for me to research this subject. I have never had to deal with obesity. My studies deal with eating healthy food, and curing disease.
If media hype on the subject of obesity, leads to improved knowledge and health, I don't see a downside. Not to mention, lowering the rates of obesity will improve the availabilty of tax dollars to spend in other areas of health care. | |

[Wal-mart] I cook a lot of fried chicken, Mac and cheese,fried and mashed potatoes,fried okra,etc. We fry it in a three compartment deep fryer in vegetable oil that we change once a week. We sell "tons" of this stuff every day. Usually we can't keep it cooked fast enough. Incidently, I cook it and sell it, I seldom eat it. | |

Posted: 7/28/2006 12:59:41 PM | I read the report on how fast food and prepared food company have had to change their ingredients for more healthy ones over the past five years. Media hype forced the government to put on pressure, and corporation bank accounts show them that they had better change their ingredients of loose business to healthier food chains.
I applaud the changes, but their is still a lot of education required.
There are various causes of obesity. I am only thankful that it isn't something I have to personally have to deal with. | |

Is (North) America so messed up that itis the responsibility of the manufacurer to change their ingredients ? does anyone but me think even cleanded up McDonalds is probably not the healthiest thing to be eating 6+ times a month, or that if you eat our more then 2-3 times a week you're guarenteeing yourself to eventually be overweight ? OK....OP's a spaz,but what about the issue? no, I don't think obesity is sexy or beautiful....does anyone ? | |
