| How many responses you get in a day?
Posted: 3/9/2005 9:11:01 AM | So I figure if a nice looking woman posts her pic on POF, and it doesn't matter what she says in her profile, she'll get dozens and dozens of dumbass 5-word Emails from guys looking for a shag, EVERY DAY. So if you look nice, you get the pick of the crop, especially if you're female. Especially the top rated people on the site - I can't imagine how many emails THEY must get... so, guys, you wonder why you never get a response? Because you ain't original in your emails. So this thread is to help us lads...
Three questions for the women: 1) how many emails do YOU get in a day or how many did you get on your first day, and 2) What do you wish guys would stop saying/doing to get your attention, and what makes you ignore them? and 3) what was the most original eyecatching subject heading you ever got, that made you actually read the email and actually respond?

Posted: 3/9/2005 10:29:20 AM | I do not post a picture for privacy reasons. If the person seems okay, i do email my picture.
When I first came to plenty of fish, i had so many replys i was surprised.
If they dont remember they already spoke to me, I cross them off as strange, no woman wants to think she is so unmemorable! Someone contacted me 4 times, never recalling we had already chatted.
I try to acknowledge everyone but sometimes I do wonder why they contacted me. I only interested in people in my age group.
I find after a month, I rarely get new emails. This signals to me that everyone that contacted me have been on plentyoffish for awhile and being new i got lots of attention.
This is the way at many internet date sites. I like this one because it is free. Paying for an internet date site did not work for me. Same thing, in the beginning I received tons of attention that nothing more. Why pay?
TIP #1 - be polite, good manners go a long way
TIp #2 - Be who you are, its easier and your chances are better to find someone who suits you. No woman who meets you and finds you were not telling the truth is going to find you suitable. Its life.
TIP#3 - Remember there is someone for everyone. I dont want to hook up with a smoker but if you are smoker, you will find someone who is a smoker. The other reason for being who you are is because maybe one person does like what you wrote, but another may love it.
Lastly, I believe internet dating is a numbers game, you have to chat and meet lots of people to find the one. People claim they have met people on the internet, I personally do not know of anyone that did. Hey, its everyones dream!. No harm in pursuing a dream!

There is nothing worse than some guy grunting at you and expecting you to send a pic in return.
I have also found that the "nice" guys that get turned down for a pic request suddenly are not so "nice" anymore..
And I WISH that when I get IM'ed, that within ten seconds I am not asked what I am wearing, whether I like it kinky, or if I want to see your "private picture collection". Good grief. | |

In fact, just yesterday when I was online here, I tried to canvass this question with several women via IM - about a dozen... just to get their opinion on whether they were so barraged with responses that they didn't have time or inclination to answer anyone.
Guess what? Not a *single* woman who was online would talk to me. Some wouldn't activate their IM window, the rest would open it, then close it immediately. Do I have my answer?
Come to think of it, since I first logged on here, the only women that have chatted with me via IM or via mail have been those who messaged me first. Not a single response where I was the initiator! (and my profile, I must say, isn't exactly dull as dishwater...)
So far, my assessment is... it can't really be *this* lame, can it? Comments?

Posted: 3/9/2005 12:46:40 PM | The first week on here I received about ten a day...that dropped off to two or three a day during the week but more on weekends. Usually they are from people too far away to seriously contemplate dating and wanting many pictures. I think they are collectors. I have met many very nice people from other areas who are just very interesting to write to. Quite a few were not in my age group but after writing back and forth several times have become very nice pen pals. I do not mind chatting with people about a variety of subjects because now that I am getting older I have opinions about almost everything under the sun and there isn't much in life that I haven't already lived. The worst experiences are the brief notes saying things like YOU'RE HOT...or NICE BREASTS....who cares ? These are not worthy of a response and I do not answer them...usually a week or so goes by and I get a nasty note wanting to know why I did not respond...Respond to what ? I am 58 years old and although I still look very good, I feel like a little conversation is in order.LOL
WTF....do you think you are HOT too just by order of being alive ? C'mon guys....these young women need a little more to go on if thats all that you can say for yourselves. I think that most need to really take a look at their profiles and take the time to say more than PREFER NOT TO SAY, or the same old drivel...and good lord at least have someone take a flattering picture of you. I think that you must really search for what is unique and special within you and let it be known... Of course I was rather blunt in my own profile but at my age I can get away with it because I am not looking for my one true love anymore...just good ,pleasant people to spend time with... I wish everyone the very best and this old lady sure gets a kick out of reading your forums...Janie | |

I have sent out about 20 emails got about 12 response of those 12 after chating with them only decided to keep talking to 4. I got Msg by my first woman ever today so everyone hold on cuase if they start msging me then the world is turning backwards. Well see what happens but so far I am pleased with the results. I spend most of my time out and meet mote women that way but I'm branching out trying to run into people that I would otherwise never meet. | |

Posted: 3/9/2005 1:51:49 PM | Well I get like between fifteen and fourty e-mails a day. Pretty good for me since Im not exactly the hottest woman on this site. Well, most are just from guys who want to be friends or tell me about there problems but some are serious about actually getting to know me. I reply to those who actually ask me questions about myself and really want to know about me. Also, I talk to everyone even if they don't want what I want. I like to make new friends. But I make it obvious up front whether or not I am really intersted in just chatting or something more. I don't screw them around b/c I think that sucks when someone does that to me. Well I am not perfect with everyone I come in contact with but I always try to be truthful and polite. I still haven't met my perfect someone yet but I keep trying!! Good luck to you all. Posted: 3/9/2005 2:07:45 PM | I get very very few. I suspect that some of the guys here are using bots to send out hundreds or thousands of messages per day and that ruins things for the rest of us.
It also doesn't help that so many women here are fussy and you have to write a bang-up creative first message or you get ignored.
Also it looks to me like most people are living in some kind of a cyberspace fantasy world and are looking to get laid with an attractive younger person.
Heaven help you if you're older, married, and are just looking for an epal.
HOWEVER, if you are married and are looking for "intimate relationships" you'll get added to a bunch of favorites lists. | |

I have several regular guys that I keep in touch with,that are great about writing on a regular basis,as far as new guys I get about 3-5 a day...
On my first days after I signed up I got about 10-12
What turns me off with most of the e-mails I get is a lot of them can start off very sexual, and personally I don't think there is nothing wrong with that as long as you know someone and thats not what they are all about, but when it keeps going on and on and that is all they are interested in then I won't write back...
Eye catching I am sure I have ran into a few but nothing comes to mind right now! | |

Posted: 3/9/2005 5:38:48 PM | At first it was a lot but now it may be any where from 1-3 per day! Our lives have become emneshed and busy with our own lives! The more I think about this the better it is for me because now I can relax a bit knowing my email is not going crazy with contacts. It is difficult to stay in contact or respond back. Some days I could get many responses in my mail and there is no way I can get back to them all! There is too many!
Things I will not respond to are the ones who just write Hi because to me this is not telling me enough and also I noticed our restrictions are ignored too which tells me they have not read my profile thoroughly if they are contacting me. Another thing is when guys push to hear from me and than they get mad at me because I am not paying attention to them.
What excites me is when a guy has actually put effort into writng me and this told me they read my profile because they continued on from there in their email to me. These are the guys I would answer back to and some I may not get to right away because of the schedule I lead at times. I do my best to answer everyone back and at times this does not happen! Especially if I know they contacted me earlier and it took me a while to get back to them. | |
