| The wilderness around you... Posted: 8/14/2006 5:35:03 AM | Here in Western NY I see different types of wildlife everyday!
A couple days ago I seen a Red Fox rolling around and laying on its belly in the middle of the road, (I live about 3 miles away from town in woodlands) playing like one of your pets would! Probably one of the coolest things I've seen in awhile.
What kind of living creature(s) have you experienced near you to tell about?

Black bear, wolves, coyotes, red and silver fox, eagles, hawks, antelope, white tail deer, moose, elk....... lots. When I travel with my family we always try to spot all the wildlife.

Squirrels abound as well and some very lovely birds. I live near the huge park and zoo, so it wouldn't surprise me to see other small critters.

There are some raccoons around, but they mostly hang out in the cemetary. I've seen a possum in there too.
All sorts birds though. We even have these big gnarly green parrots building ginormous nests all over.

| The wilderness around you... Posted: 9/2/2006 3:11:55 PM | | Turkey and deer. Last night a saw a mother with her two fawns just calmly grazing at the side of the road watching the cars go by. Also so many geese, many of which winter around here now so you see them all 12 months of the year. Also the usual smaller rodent type critters- opossum, skunk, woodchuck. | |

A few years ago we had a possum take up residence in our shed. Short lived stay though - one live trap and some peanut butter later and there was a scenic drive up to the farm country north of us. "Opa" was released probably into the gaping maw of a fox.
Last summer driving along a cottage road we had a pair of young white tailed deer bound off the road and up along a creek. Around these parts you get north of the big cities and it's pretty common to see wild life of some kind or other.
We saw our twin teenagers off tonight. Now they're someone elses wild-life.

| The wilderness around you... Posted: 10/16/2006 5:51:29 AM | I've seen bears, opossums, skunks, deer, squirrels, and all types of eagles near where I live now. When I used to live in Florida I've seen all manner of turtles, vultures, all manner of snakes, alligators, and perhaps the weirdest of them all: Armadillos.
I get a kick out of wild life as long as it's not chasing me around trying to bite me
