You find yourself starting to date someone new, with one problem your dog does not like this person does your dog know something you don't? or do you think it might be a jealousy thing your dog having to share you now?? What do you do take it as a warning or ignore and continue to date but avoid your place? lol

What happens if they run over and start humping the person's leg immediately?
Is that a sign to follow suit?

They say most animals and most infants can tell a "good" person from a "bad" person...

My dog has what I do not......do I trust my dog......with my life. They can tell
intention something words can not.

Any person I meet will pass the dog first.....betya and I will stand tall on his call everytime too. Pity the fool who thinks he can fool a dog and a big good luck to ya if you think he will be off either......lol Yes my animal has been bang on everytime and I
pity humans who do not have that kind of radar and trust in there mist.

lol I love your sense of humor Dietcoke. I agree, my pets are a better judge of character than I am. Most likely if they are not receptive to you there is a reason.

i have cats and if a guy i'm seeing says he likes cats, I'll see what he does when he's over at my place b/c my cats will be all over him wanting attention - if he pushes them away etc then I'll probably get the impression he doesn't like them -- even if the cat is there at an inopportune time -

my one cat, lol is a voyeur - has been since the ex and I were together - we'd push him off the bed etc but he'd jump right back up and think it was time for bed - i swear, he'd be at my head wanting me to pet him and i'm like - go away I"m busy - stupid cat LOL

our own fault for letting him sleep in the bedroom with us LOL
ah well - will have to shut the door if/when there is action in my bed again lmao

I would have to say that they do. Many years ago, my parents had black labrador retrievers, who just loved everyone. I was dating this woman, and brought her home to meet my parents. Well, the dogs pretty much ignored her, which was unusual, since they loved everybody they met, and always wanted attention. Hmm... maybe I should have listened to them.

I have 2 dogs.... One is hyper, beyond hyper and the other, dont cross him cause he is always watching you... When I dated the 1 lady that, after the 3rd date wanted me to send my son to his mother on a permanent basis.. The Older dog just did not like her, was always growling, getting between us... Hrmmm maybe I should have listend to the old fella :) so yes I believe animals can judge a persons character

Just my 2 cents !

I don't think animals are a good judge of character. If they were, we would hear how top level govt. agents and the like would be given a poodle (Shelty? Beagle? et al) test to make sure they were worthy. "We'd love to hire you, but you made the dog growl...sorry."

Animals rely a lot on their sense of smell and someone may not smell right to them because of such factors as diet or having the smell (or not having the smell) of the person's pets on them. There are other factors in terms of one's personal "fragrance" but you get the idea. If someone doesn't smell right, the dog can act up. Some people are nervous or afraid of animals and give out smells that an animal can pick up on.

Sure, people have anecdotal stories about the dog/cat/wombat/whatever who would always react when a particular person came around and that person later proved to be a real idiot. For this reason you remember it. However, there are a lot of other people who may be nice that animals react to that we don't focus on because we like the person. This you don't make a specific note of. Think of the animal that reacts whenever ANY stranger arrives at the door...do you really think that the lady collecting for cancer research is evil? We like to impute human qualities to our pets because we love them and want to think of them as special. This is the reason why one needs to look at controlled research and not just anecdotes. We shouldn't confuse "lucky guesses" with science and behavioural assessment.

That is some of the best dating advice I've ever heard here. That clinches it... all future prospects will no longer receive the benefit of my "lucky guesses".

The line-up for behavioural assessment forms on the left... cavity searches to the right.

mine love everybody but ive not come across too many people he doesnt like.
I know for a fact tho and i dont know why he gets vicious around Asian folks.
I have no idea why he snarls and barks at em... and he just plain DOES NOT BARK.
Hes a howler.
I remember somerhing about colorblindness and Peoples auras on a talk show one time.
Might have to so with how people present themselves too.
Some dogs act wierd sometimesmeeting new folks cuz everyone had a different feeling about dogs in general. They can pick up on that too. nervousness, shyness and pure fear.
Personally I never met a dog that doesnt like me until my neighbors got a couple....
Every dog theyve ever had was a viscious as the last... One of their dogs actually bit me when i reached out to pet him on the head.
No idea why theyre like that. They seem like nice folks, even had me and another neighbor over for christmas one yr. Still dont get their dogs tho.

What about the whole jealousy aspect. I dated a woman a few years back that had a male dog that got jealous of me being around her(the woman). It got so bad that she had to lock her dog up in another room if we were going to be intimate. It didn't work out because of the b i t c h... but i'm not talking about the dog!
