| can i hook up my pc to my tv? Posted: 8/20/2006 9:49:53 PM | Yes it is possible. It depends on your video card... You need a TV input/output port on the video card. You can view your PC on your TV or your TV on your PC.
Here's a link to a website explaining the possible ways to connect to your TV...

Here's a link showing an example of a video card capable of TV output (Integrated TV Output support up to 1024x768 resolution). Ask a sales person to assist you in finding a video card that will fill your want/need (this example is sold for less than $60 US).

Hope this helps! | |

Dandy card for the money. If you wanted to record an old 8mm or VHS into your PC and digitize it, that card can do it.

| can i hook up my pc to my tv? Posted: 8/26/2006 9:56:07 AM | | What I would recomend is not going the old "ati all in wonder" they had very poor drivers and if you have nvidia (the other video card maker) installed in your machine adding the "all in wonder" will cause nothing but headaches. My recomendation is the same as most others, buy yourself a somewhat decent video card that is capable tv-output. And as most video cards these days have this functionality it shouldn't be too hard to find | |

Posted: 8/26/2006 12:16:39 PM | I'll agree with Oberonscall on this one, you can get a tv out capable video card for 60-70 dollars, its low end... but its not like were talking something cheap, most video cards have tv out nowadays, and you can do it without paying a huge amount for the tv in functionality of the AIW cards.
Despite that I always go ATI, ati's old drivers are crap.... I had for awhile a ati tv wonder and an ATI radeon, it seemed like the ideal solution, rather then the AIW upgrade cost... well... they didn't like each other... it wasn't pretty.

That way, with the right LCD monitor, hardware and software, you could get high definition TV, ( with the right cable/satellite feed) , and more enjoyment with your computer.
That's what I am intending to do with the computer I'm currently building. I figure I can get a used 20 + LCD monitor used for about 80 dollars here in Montreal. That should be quite able to produce a hi-def image with the right input.
I have a ATI 9800, which I can flash to the pro-level ( I think). I still plan on adding a TV card anyway. Some monitors today already have a split for TV and computer monitor built right in.

Though I'm sure there are plenty of revisions, expecially with the different manufacturer's, i'm thinking ATI pure...

| can i hook up my pc to my tv? Posted: 9/28/2006 6:17:35 PM | | Sure ya can it just depends on the video card your using. If you use the onboard video for the motherboard then forget about it. You will actually need to go out and buy a decent video card like the ATI radeon series or Nvidia Geoforce FX series video card. These types of carde are equiped with S/Video out that you can run to your computer. If you wanna get really fancy get an ATI all-in-wonder then you can run the cable to the TV and still run the computer display to the computer. | |

I however don't care for the LCD Monitors, prefer the Picture Quality of the flat CRT Types.
