| Any punk/metal/hardcore music fans? Posted: 8/22/2006 9:07:35 PM | Hey, I just signed up and was just curious to know if there are many people here who are into loud music like punk, metal, hardcore, etc. There don't seem to be many profiles that mention it. Mine does, proudly :)
Some shows I'm going to in the next month (in London and Toronto): Saosin, Mikoto, The Casualties, Alexisonfire, Bad Religion, Comeback Kid, Underoath, Moneen, Dragonforce.

I like a lot of stuff from Elvis to Manson but prefer the loud heavy stuff.

| Any punk/metal/hardcore music fans? Posted: 8/23/2006 6:25:12 AM | I'm more of a 90s alternative (when it was still alternative)/industrial/goth/EBM fan myself.
Some of the bands I've seen:
Ministry NIN KMFDM Marilyn Manson Front 242 Sepultura Pop Will Eat Itself (if I recall correctly, it was years ago and I was in an altered state at that time) the Machine in the Garden Lycia
and a number of others, plus ones that don't fit into the above mentioned preferences

| Any punk/metal/hardcore music fans? Posted: 8/23/2006 6:30:46 AM | I was an 80's (closet) punker (not rebellious, didn't look the part) but still love the sound and the political messages. Recently purchased some pretty hard core stuff from Russia--local St Petersburg and Moscow bands, and some Finnish alternative Heavy Metal. We listen to it in the car, really loud! | |

Underoath is goodstuff AX7 wicked new band with oldschool metal structure 80's 90's metal is still my favorite Iron Maiden Judas Priest Twisted Sister

| Any punk/metal/hardcore music fans? Posted: 8/23/2006 10:07:03 AM | I just started getting into Clutch, Deftones, and Queens of the Stoneage recently...
@Smythe- when and where are the Deftones playing?? I MUST go!! That song Change (in the house of flies) is like, "our song", lol.... (me and the man)...
I was always into classic rock, alternative and punk.. but everyone's definition of punk and metal is different.. I don't really consider Metallica heavy metal anymore, they're just like, hard rock now..
Green Day is still punk but not like hardcore punk.. So many bands have become mainstreamed and they lose their flavour.. it's a shame when they become commercialized...
Times change, music changes and the lines between Metal, Rock, Alternative, and Punk begin to blur... I guess as long as it sounds good and it's loud who cares... Rock On!!

| Any punk/metal/hardcore music fans? Posted: 8/23/2006 10:15:15 AM | yeah music labels are stupid, like Nirvana for instance was always called grunge,to me they just sounded like punk or metal. Green Day is just a hard rock band in my eyes but did have a bit of punk in them back in the day. Metallica is a corporation now not even a band they disgust me.Have you ever seen the movie Some Kind Of Monster, they had (and this is just one example)a corporate meeting to decide the album name, record execs and shhit trying to figure out what album name would sell the best, not what fit the album, sorry I should say CD.
Like ya said as long as its good and LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Any punk/metal/hardcore music fans? Posted: 8/23/2006 10:33:23 AM | Fvcking corporate wankers... go on, piss off!
Hey have you heard of the Dropkick Murphy's? I think you'd like them. They're a sort of barroom punk band from Boston with a real Irish feel. Check em out. Sort of remind me of Rancid.

| Any punk/metal/hardcore music fans? Posted: 8/24/2006 10:10:52 AM | | Well i am pretty much into all these types of music as for Punk well the original 70s stuff is my choice...metal i like pretty much most of the stuff...anyone remember Sacrifice? Their music was heavy/speed metal...i used to work with the drummer of the band. They never made it big but did release a few albums in the 80s...IMO "Torment In Fire" Being the best which was also the debut...saw a vid by them in the 80s called Reanimation and also heard they may have a reunion one show concert next month in Toronto | |

Posted: 8/25/2006 6:28:34 AM | | Larrys Hideaway...haha...haven't heard that in awhile...when i was in high school i used to sneak into that bar and The Gasworks and Rock and Roll Heaven....a friends band from high school played at Larrys Hideaway a few times they were called F.L.Y.T.E
|
| Any punk/metal/hardcore music fans? Posted: 8/25/2006 6:31:40 AM | Ive heard of flyte too dont know em or anything but definately remember the name.
I used to sneak into Larrys as well, but had help as one of my friends brothers was manager there and made it a lot easier.
Its a shame whats happened to the Gasworks, loved that place.
R&RHeaven was pretty good too.
Why do all the good places get shut down???????
|
| Any punk/metal/hardcore music fans? Posted: 8/25/2006 7:16:31 AM | I miss the old Rock bars of yesteryear nowadays its all about clubs.....The Gasworks was one of my favorite bars, now its a dollar store!!! and they covered up all the murals that were on the side of the building.
Why do all the good places get shut down??????? I think its because we are a dying breed...
