| Why do guys say "baby" - "honey" - "sweetie"

I have a first name so why don't they use it ? Especially the ones I haven't spoken too or even exchanged emails. I guess these are considered words of endearment and I don't get this at home.

Posted: 8/24/2006 6:38:42 PM | Anyone can call you by your name... however pet names are used by those that feel they have a particular closeness to you that others don't have. It's not meant to irk you, but to let you know verbally where you are in their heart.
But, if it bothers you, asking them nicely not to do that should keep them from doing it in the future.

It's how I feel...............so if they call me something but my name, I just explain very sweet how it would be nice if many guys call on my cell and I don't have to recognize the voice and just would answer: "hi honey" they get the point right away.......usually | |

Posted: 8/24/2006 8:14:48 PM | i like terms of endearment, both receiving and using. even after our breakup, my ex and i often exchange "words of endearment." for example, she often refers to me as The World's Biggest As*hole...it pleases me greatly she feels i am the best person on that planet at something, and it warms my heart she thinks of me so dearly.
