| Blogs, and the people who love them... Posted: 3/12/2005 12:43:15 AM | I thought about setting up a blog, but then I realized that I wouldn't really have anything to put there. I mean the "friends" that I have that have their own blogs and would read mine, I wouldn't want knowing that many things about me!
I can see that there's some sort of catharsis involved with the whole thing, but I just can't seem to get into it. Any ideas as to why?
How can I get over my blog-ineptitude!

A collection of links. Your own private thoughts. Memos to the world. Your blog is whatever you want it to be. There are millions of them, in all shapes and sizes, and there are no real rules. In simple terms, a blog is a web site, where you write stuff on an ongoing basis. New stuff shows up at the top, so your visitors can read what's new. Then they comment on it or link to it or email you. Or not." -Courtesy of Blogger.com

Posted: 10/12/2006 3:14:24 PM | | Sometimes, you simply need to vent about whatever and, rather than bore your friends, you post your venom (and, essentially, anything that pops into your pretty little head) online and if anybody out there in the ether reads it...you get to feel like Stephen King for a day. Mine own blog has allowed me the opportunity to trade e-mails with and receive pictures from a Maxim girl, a fitness model and an amateur porn star. Hell yes, I'm proud of that. Any guy would be.

| Blogs, and the people who love them... Posted: 10/12/2006 8:02:52 PM | Yes, it's truly amazing, by blogging I've located my mentor who'd lost contact for more than a decade. Another day I was complimented by a local celebrity who I've been admired. Fantastic experiences.
Just a side note to Rainbowfishh: I like reading your posts, and you look absolutely gorgeous. But ever since you've used this scary mask for ID, I've found it a bit disturbing. No offended and please don't take it personal. Would you consider changing it to a cheerful one? Or put your pretty face back that I've missed. Thank you and have a lovely evening

Then there are the exceptions:

I saw a great quote in the paper last week. Sadly I cant remember who said it but it went: "your generation shares too much. When you share grief you don't halve it, you publish it".
I'm all for people self-publishing on the web, whose mandate (yes, it actually had one way back when) is "the embodiment of human information, online", but ya gotta have something to say. Most blogs are a superficial blight on the face of the net. But man they sure are popular.
I also find it interesting that five years ago blogs used to talk about things from the newspaper and now a lot of newspaper articles talk about what happened in blogs.

| Blogs, and the people who love them... Posted: 6/5/2007 1:44:42 PM | | People like to gossip about mundane little details. The people who write personal blogs, do it for varying reasons. I doubt many of them care whether you read their blogs or not, | |

Also, make sure you tell the explicit things your g/f does when she gives ya a bj...

| Blogs, and the people who love them... Posted: 6/5/2007 5:58:42 PM | I have yet to blog. Sincerely, I'm not pretentious enough to think I'm that interesting. No, I know, it's not for everyone else, it's for the blogger. I just figure, if you've always been a journal/diary/dream writer, then I guess ofcourse you'd be interested in blogging. I've read a few people's blogs and can honestly say I never went back to a specific blogger twice. I think the most common factor about people, including myself, is no one, and no one's random stuff is even within the universe of interesting to others, as it is to the person themselves. We all dig our own observations, but there's nothing new under the sun. I would think, if you have a lot of interesting things to say, write a book. Then people can buy it, and you get some gratification, or they don't, and you realize, it's just stuff, and after self discovery, other factors in the world including other people are always more interesting to observe, and the results, more education and rewarding than looking at ourselves in many different mirrors. Someone should write a blog about bloggers maybe? I think I'd read that. | |

| Blogs, and the people who love them... Posted: 6/5/2007 6:25:46 PM | I have had a blog for about 2 years now. My brother and family asked me to start it so they could keep tabs on what was happening. I don't write about too much personal stuff; I do write other stuff that I want to share with my visitors. Most of the people that come in to my blog come in from searches (Yahoo, Google, etc) and are looking for something specific. I have almost 9000 page views. I did a writing on making scrapbook memorials for firefighers, fallen firefighters, emts, etc. That was one of the highest read articles because I gave places where you can download emblems, etc, to use for free. Lots of folks came from searches making memorials to those lost on 9/11. I have a recipe section, for family, of our families favorite recipes (from our elders.) LOTS of people come in for the recipes and unusual recipes for halloween, etc.
I don't write a lot of personal stuff for the world to see, but when I do it is with a humorous approach about life here on the farm. Life is truly funny if you look at it with a skewed approach, lol. I have many repeat visitors, and get lots of notes because they tell me they like my style of writing. Blogging is fun! For me, I have always wrote my whole life: all kinds of things, from poetry and lyrics, to humorous memories and helpful things. It keeps my writing honed for other projects I do on the web and in my personal life.

| Blogs, and the people who love them... Posted: 6/5/2007 9:35:56 PM | I have yet to understand blogs... it's like reading, or posting, a private journal Although some are tailored - the it becomes like a subscription to one column in a newspaper That's just weird No one is THAT interesting of a writer or a reporter That said I do have a few blogs, one was about law school (don't do it!) and I was surprised at how popular it was But it just doesn't even interest me enough to keep up with it regularly Do you think video blogs are replacing blogs? | |

| Blogs, and the people who love them... Posted: 6/6/2007 7:44:31 AM | My main blog is just my rambleings- no diff. than the bullsh*t you talk about on the phone over and over to every peron you know only this way I only have to "say it" once :P
My family and friends read- that I understand, a lot of complete strangers read and they tell me it's like snooping into my life, it's fun and they think I'm funny. So people enjoy it- what's the big deal? Not much diff. than reading a book I think.
I sense a LOT of negativity towards bloggers in here! Soooooo odd! Ha- if you don't like it don't do it or read it right?
Personally- much like journling I like to get my thoughts out on "paper" and it is an easy place for me to share info. and new photos, etc. with my HUGE family and friends that span the globe. It's also nice to get feedback sometimes as well- who wants to "talk" to themselves?
My other blog is about dating and is much more like a journal. People give me feedback and I don't cencor myself as only strangers read it. I'm told by readers that they get useful information from it but mostly just laugh their as*es off! Who doesn't want to laugh? Thats why they come back when they're bored at work for a few and peek in on what I'm up to- perhaps becuase they relate and it' human nature to seek out people we relate to? I read blogs as well.
OK- too much coffee- PEACE OUT :)

Could also be considered a place where someone with nothing to say gets to in an "unencumbered by value" way. At least it keeps them off the streets.
