Applications of solar power on a large scale

I'm looking for information on solar power applications on a large scale and would appreciate any information regarding applications and outputs of panel systems, reliability, as well as power storage. Information on wind power would also be greatly appreciated. I know from past experience there are some great minds on POF so have at it.

Hey, all:

Hey, Yum:

Among the very best sources of info and techniques and markets, etc., is the magazine "Home Power". I didn't look to see if you are Canadian and I don't know if the magazine is available on newsstands there, but they do have an online subscription service. Also, they have listings of local and regional organizations, plus info on periodic solar/sustainability gatherings around the country.

One of the most important things to do first is to economize on your electricity use. Efficiency is the goal. Just as you would not run your car with flat tires, or huge pieces of scrap iron or lead dragging behind you, you shouldn't do the same in your home. Every dollar spent on efficiency saves $5 on power equipment.

There is a thread here on alternative energy that has a lot more info in it--I know--I am one of the contributors. You should have searched for it.

David
