| Tarrantino and his music... Posted: 8/31/2006 7:56:54 PM | | Tarantino is brilliant. He clearly loves music and knows how to use it. He knows how to use a song in context without commercializing it. He has a command of the music and plays off it, using it to it's quirky and atmospheric best. | |

| Tarrantino and his music... Posted: 9/7/2006 10:06:20 PM | | Tarantino just grabbed a bunch of well know surf music tunes, threw it in a film and added a lotta classic Link Wray rock instros and a nice little country song and nailed it with Pulp Fiction. One of my alltime faves. But Kill Bill Vols1 & 2 sucked but so did the films except the 2nd which actually was a film. Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou & Rushmore are also brilliant soundtracks. | |

| Tarrantino and his music choices... Posted: 9/10/2006 7:44:11 AM | i think quentin is brilliant! his use of music is but one of his many tools. his films has a way on meshing and garnering the most surreal and edgey responses for those that pay any attention at all. i think many people get caught up in the visuals and cannot see past it rather than understanding the entire experience as a whole. he and his collaborators use many mediums in his movies, weaving together in a style that brought indie film to the forefront. while i abhor most violence in fim, his way of incorporating it in the very exacting way that he does makes it not only tolerable and palatable, but provokes more than interest and thought. with an iq of 160 and as a dyslexic high school dropout he has more than effectively caught not only attention, and acclaim; his diversity is undoubtedly much more than highly provacative...
i appreciate his work and await with great anticipation, for personal reasons: inglorious bastards, grind house, and some rumored kill bill anime. my only disappointment in him so far has been hostel, but a small price to pay for all the thought he's prompted otherwise.
quentin tarantino won the 2005 icon of the decade award at the Empire awards, richly deserved, imho. for more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quentin_Tarantino
interesting thread, btw; thanks | |

| Tarrantino and his music choices... Posted: 9/12/2006 12:06:35 AM | | I used to love him but he's never been the same since success went to his head after Pulp Fiction. He'll never top the masterpiece Pulp Fiction ever but hey least he made that and the also great Reservoir Dogs. Least he's bringing back Tim Roth for Inglorious **stards least that's what I've heard maybe he'll grow a brain and bring back the best actor alive the highly underused chameleon Gary Oldman. That'd be nice because he stole the Tarantino scribed classic True Romance. But yeah he's always been good with soundtracks just like his idol Scorsese is. | |
