INSTRUCTIONS FOR WRITING A TESTIMONIAL
Where are They?
At the bottom of your profile, if you have any written to you.
How Are They Written on My Profile?
The person whom you add to "your" Favourite list will be able to write a testimonial about you, and have it visible on your profile.
NO ONE can write a testimonial about you, unless you put them on "your" Favourites List - simple as that.
The above, is the only condition that need be met for someone else to write a testimonial about you.
Consequently, if you wish to write a testimonial to someone - you must be on "their" favourite list. Find out who has selected You As A Favourite <-- click there.
How Can I Write One to Someone Else on Their Profile?
1) Click on your "Favourites" link, and then click on the green link labeled: Find out who has added YOU to THEIR favorites list!!!
2) Click on the "Testimonial" link to the person you wish to write one to, or delete from.
To Review or Delete Testimonials from others
1) Click on Your Favourites Link and then
2) Click on the Testimonials from Favourites Link
3) Click on the "Delete" link of the appropriate testimonial
Testimonials Must Be 200 Characters Minimum

Posted: 8/31/2006 6:10:54 PM | There is a delete testimonial option I believe, you should find it when you go to the link where you can read your testimonials, so if anyone does put anything negative up you can simply delete it.
vvvvv We had a bit of an exciting time in the UK forums when it was first discovered so I went off and did a little investigating, all of these questions so far have been answered in the UK thread lol

Posted: 9/1/2006 7:39:31 AM | I'm totally OPPOSED to anyone but ME writing on my profile page for several reasons.
First and foremost it's a total INVASION OF MY PRIVACY...and it's NO ONE's business whom I have on my favorite list. Some people are there for different reasons and there are even those whom are there because they ASKED me to add them and I felt like....if that makes their day, then fine!
Second of all........what they write is put there without permission and may not even be seen by us for a period of time during which time whatever they wrote may be damaging to us without them even intending it to be that way. It could also be intentional to sway other people away from us and if we don't see it quickly enough....their intent would be accomplished. The thing is, people all have a different way of writing and expressing themselves. We can't control that, and sometimes it's very difficult to determine what someone is saying on line which causes major interpretations. Yes, these people are supposed to be friends, but even friends don't always think about what they're saying or how it's appearing to others.
Third.........It's putting everyone in several awkward positions too. They now should rightfully thank that person whom they may not even know because perhaps they put them there to get back to them later and never even wrote to them. People add favorites for different reasons which have been written in many forums and as I stated, I've added people just to "make their day" or get back to them later...maybe! Or perhaps they were someone from the past whom they never removed because we all know that most people don't remove favorites for fear of upsetting those people when their numbers go down.
It's also causing hard feelings for those who see you put certain people on your favorites but never added them!!!! That can cause hurt emails which in turn forces you to defend yourself and makes you feel like crumb! What's your option then? To add them now...making your list grow more and more.
There's a pressure now to write something for the person because they wrote something for you.
I can see a problem with a popularity contest too. Those with many people writing vs those with none, and that certainly can't help anyone's self esteem other than those with large amounts. There's another reason to add people now...to build your testimonials to show how much and how many people love you. Now how silly is that? I'm already aware of people asking other people to write, and they'll do the same! Some are even angry at those who didn't write, or don't want to write for whatever their reasons are...putting more stress out there!
I've already seen and heard jealousy issues with it too. Those who were potentially interested reading what someone else has to say, or seeing that they're totally crazy about the person is once again putting us in the position of having to defend why we have that person, or why they wrote what they did. In fact reading what other people write can discourage potential interests from writing to us at all. They may see those people as competition that's too hard for them and would rather not even try.... just like the favorite numbers do to people now.
It's also providing connections to other people to ask questions about you putting them in an awkward position!!!
I know we can delete what was written, but that's insulting to the person who feels they're doing something sweet for us......so there's another position it puts us in. To keep something there that we may not want there for fear of hurting someones feelings especially our friends.
The entire thing can be damaging to us if we can't control what or how someone else writes! I feel that unless there is the ability to decide FIRST if we want it to appear or not, or the options to allow testimonials altogether or not, that this new idea is NOT a good one.
I like my privacy....and don't want other people to know whom I choose to put on my friends list....nor do I want anyone voicing their opinion or selling me on MY own profile page!  | |
