| What was the first car you ever owned?
Posted: 8/31/2006 5:56:14 PM | Mine was a volkwagon super beatle bright shiny yellow with a new fender and running boards. it would stick out a mile in a shopping center parking lots. Stll remember the days of driving to school scrappinhg the windows to see out. was nt great in terms of speed but it got you from A to B good enough and it was great on gas too.

The heater core was screwy, so I always had this smelly fog pouring out of the "heater" that never actually heated anything..so I had to drive with the windows down to keep the windshield clear...was interesting mid winter. | |

Posted: 8/31/2006 6:28:19 PM | 86 Jetta diesel...before they had the turbo diesel...0-60 in about 5 minutes but I could drive from SJ to Ottawa on a single tank of fuel...but your butt would be numb after an hour or so from the vibartion in the thing...sounded like an old sewing machine lol

Posted: 8/31/2006 6:57:00 PM | My first car was a cherry red, Ford Fairlane. It had the hind end jacked up and chrome hood pins on the hood! Sharp looking little car, I called her 'Fanny' the far out Ford Fairlane. My younger Brother made up a story about that car, Fanny, the far-out Ford Fairlane, flew faithfully to Freetown on frosty Fridays in February, where she met up with Cal, the cool Cadilac. It went on for may pages and was quite a story. But then, Fanny was quite the car!

Take note, dont drive thru champlain place parking lot late at night doing about 120 on the side where burger king is.....because there IS a curbed roadway going through the parking lot...and contrary to popular belief...A Chevette Will not fly over it! lol | |

First car I owned was 1978 Honda Accord Hatchback....lol...My friends called it the Pullcord... Road star cassette deck....with a booster...lmao. Ahhh good times | |

Posted: 9/1/2006 5:58:40 AM | '82 Toyota Tercel.....I paid 200 for it and my dad did a body job on it for me....I go outside to see how its comeing and what do I find but good ole dad painting it red not black like we had agreed...like a firetruck and with a ROLLER OH YEAH...couldn't lose that car anywhere if you tried. It had no radio but the heater was great and in the winter you had to use a bungee cord on cold days to hold the door shut.
Was my FAVORITE car...my one true love...oh how I miss her...she was mine...forever in my heart!! RIP MY TERCEL I would buy another used one in a HEARTBEAT!! | |

LOL OMG, I'm amazed we never hit that curb, we used to shopping cart surf in that parking lot, same side as BK....you know, someone in a shopping cart, holds the roof rack and you fly across the lot them in tow......yes I am amazed we survived our teens. | |

Imagine 50 series tires on back, doing a break stand, smoking the rear tires and about 15 teenagers hanging out every opening in the van trying to breath because the fooor had holes.

Sorry Sue, I forgot to mention that the heater core leaks. When there is no more heat coming out, fill up the radiator.
My first wheels, a 1973 Chevy van that had two old car bench seats welded into the back for seating. One of the front tires had a broken belt and it vibrated like a **stard between 45 and 60 mph. The 350 4-bolt engine survived and got rebuilt for my K5 Blazer several years later. | |
