| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/1/2006 8:30:02 PM | | I am not scared about getting old, I have had a good life and three healthy boys, but I will say that I don't like the aches and pains that come with aging, always was and still am very active but those little creaks and cracks getting up in the morning are the pits! If you feel old then you will be old, if you set your mind to remain as young as possible then it removed most of the fear of being old. | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/1/2006 8:37:00 PM | | I dont think anyone looks forward to getting old, but, that is life and the natural order of things. Yes, I still cringe when I see another grey hair on my head, or another wrinkle forming on my face, but, I realize that some people never make it to these ages, and I try to see the moments in my life that have brought me this far. There are days that I wish I was in my 20's again, but, mostly, I realize all the memories that I form each year along with the grey hairs and the wrinkles. It really is a state of mind, you are as old as you feel! | |

I'm not afraid..but I'm not thrilled with it.. But what in the hell can you do about it ?
Ditto! It's life, just make sure to live every day the best you can. The one thing about getting older is if you want to do something, no matter how silly, just do it! Why not?

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 2:36:28 AM | I'm heading for 51 in October, and since hitting 50 I've hated it. Age has never bothered me till now and I'm feeling old and frumpy. signed...... downhill slide ( ) | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 4:10:37 AM | I'm a year younger than the OP but I'm not giving much thought to getting older. I felt older than this when my ex and I were together. She was over-weight and never wanted to go mountain biking, clam digging, hiking or anything else that meant a moderate level of activity.
I am really enjoying doing these things again. So really, I feel younger now than I have for years...
I think getting older is a perception of time. If you feel it doesn't matter, then it doesn't.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 5:35:07 AM | I love it! I was old age a child, now that I'm getting older, I'm getting younger. Make sense? Looking forward to my 50th. I've said it before, "I'm like fine wine, I keep getting better with age"
Just ask me, I'll tell you.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 6:28:29 AM | For me, I'm not at all worried about getting older age-wise. In my mind ( yes, a scary place to be sometimes!), I'm still a babe in the woods when it comes to wisdom, knowledge and experiences. If I have my health and most of mental faculties, what's a number ???

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 6:33:16 AM | | I agree with Irisheyez 100%- AGE IS JUST AN ATTITUDE!! I don't feel that I am getting old,, getting older, yes but one has to go with the flow and not fight it. I have the right attitude, keep active, look forward to everyday and I look much younger than I am because of my youthful attitude toward life. Isn't the 60's the new 50's, 50's the new 40's, etc. I realize that older people may have some health issues but if we try to make the effort to remain positive and take advantage of all the many things out there to help us medically speaking, we can have a better quality of life than our parents and grandparents did. I don't have to LIKE getting older but I plan to keep enjoying my life as much as I can and accept what I can't change, which is not always an easy task but I was never promised a rose garden, you have to accept the thorns that come along with the beautiful roses. | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 7:49:27 AM | Getting old is a lot different than you think it will be when you are young. There is only one way not to get old and getting old sure beats that. I still don't understand why they call it the golden years. I think it must have been invented by someone trying to sell something.
I think one thing that becomes very apparant is that all those things people do when they are young does catch up to them when and if they get older. I think few people regret not smoking, not drinking too much, eating healty and getting exercise when they get a few years on them.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 8:02:20 AM | I agree getting old scares and depresses me. I go to the VA and I see all these old guys in their wheelchairs and I get so afraid I will end up like one of them. Plus I look around me and it seems like life and relationships are for the young and good looking. I have gone places trying to find women my age and all I see are young 20 to 30ish types who look at me like I am some old pervert looking at young girls... Heck I do not want a young one anymore...been there done that. Unfortunately, even women my age seem to want younger guys... I know they sure don't want me... LOL... Everything is geared toward the young. TV, Movies, advertising, you name it. Us old farts are ignored or treated like jokes or stereotypes...
It is very depressing...
I still try to act and think young...but when I do, I get the "Why don't you act your age" crap. Hell, I have no idea what someone my age is supposed to act like, someone must have forgotten to send me the rulebook....

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 8:43:42 AM | I am not sure which getting old we are talking about here, old or really old. My mother is 93 and in assisted living. As I look around at her co-inhabitatants, I would sooner kick off before I get to that stage.
I have to agree with what you said about the gals. When you are younger most of the gals are looking for a guy a few years older. Find a profile for an older gal that is attractive and they seem to be mostly looking for boy toys. The other problem you have chasing younger gals is they can run faster then we can.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 8:57:03 AM | Part of me is excited about it because I will be spending those years in Belize. I'll probably be the senior citizen that will take people out snorkeling. Age is an attitude. If you have a positive attitude in life, I guarantee that you will age with grace and dignity.
We become what we think.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 9:48:46 AM | I read this saying once, and thought it was nice..(author unknown) I'll never be an old man. An old man is someone who is 15 years older than I am right now.
I'm not afraid of getting old; I'm afraid of growing old alone.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 10:08:42 AM | I'm not afraid of something that is gonna happen, no matter how hard we try to change it! I am a day older today then I was yesterday, but my mind is still 30 years younger | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 10:12:28 AM | you know what scares me about getting old? people who keep telling me that I'm only as old as I feel. I don't want to the THAT old | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 10:12:39 AM | I've paid attention to that boy toy phenomenon. I see women in their late 40's and maybe up to about 52 listing an age range 15 years younger to the same age as they. Then, in the early to mid-50's it changes back to something reasonable like 7 or 8 years younger to 5 or 6 years older.
As far as getting old, I'm not afraid of getting old; I'm afraid of getting old alone. If there's someone to share the Ben Gay, a bed, and warm conversation with, I'll be happy.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 10:28:58 AM | Ben Gay, thats one man I don't want to share my bed with haha. I really wish I had the same attitude and outlook 20 years ago that I have miraculously developed over the last 10 years. Would have saved me a whole lot of grief. I feel wonderful, I'm healthier than I was even 5 years ago and like I said, its all about attitude, positive attitude. Only one thing would make it all the more satisfying and thats why I'm here.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2006 11:05:07 AM | Well I don't really think about it much....age is just a number that my body/brain hasn't caught up with yet. But, like someone else said getting older and being alone is another story. I want to go to Belize this winter ksue44 but I can't contact you to ask questions
