| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:13:38 PM | I have noticed a few people in here who seem to be physically fit, and we never hear about those who may not be.
I am basically good health, other than the fact that I take coumadin (a blood thinner) after having a pulmonary embolish (blood clot) in my lung 8 years and am very thankful to be alive, considering 99.9% never make it! I am also diabetic but controlled by diet and exercise, so not on any medication. I did have my gallbladder removed 2 years ago, and was told I was in excellent health!
The only thing that I have to be careful about is getting cut.. So no bungee jumping for me, I can go as long as I don't hook my body
|
| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:24:16 PM | Hmmm..I had blood clots in the lungs a while back.. I was on Warafin?? (spelling) for months. Then I had a new technique tried, called Nuclear therapy, and, within a month; no more thinners.. I am also slightly diabetic, but like you, AW, I don't need medication..
After 40+ surgeries, 1 bullet wound, 1 knife wound, and multiple bumps and bruises..
I'd say..............I'm pretty dang healthy, alright!!
|
| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:30:45 PM | hmmm wonder if I should ask about that nuclear therapy I hate taking this. And yes it is wararfin I take too, generic for coumadin, and I take a high dosage. Something to ask about! 40 surgeries, OMG... I have only had 3, appendix, hysterectomy and gallbladder. Didn't have surgery for the blood clots. They treated me in the hospital with IVs. Dang, who started this thread?

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:33:53 PM | I have met men who have a lot of physical problems and there's no mention of it in their profile. I believe most would rather keep that sort of thing private until they actually meet a person.
Let's be honest here. If a person broadcasted that they have ... *heart problems *diabetes *clinical depression *sexual problems (could be male or female) *severe arthritis *asthma or emphhysema *anxiety attacks *cancer *that they are on 10 different medications related to their various problems *etc.
... how many people do you think would be trying to contact them for a meeting?
According to the many different threads here, it's hard enough to get a date if you are just a few pounds overweight and not a certain height.
What if we were to write in there that we have ... *a missing breast *hair plugs *a glass eye *false teeth *missing toes
How many emails would get answered? How many emails would a person get?
I believe we do need to be up front about medical issues, but I can't say that the profile or the forums are the right place for that type of disclosure. While some would no doubt be comfortable discussing it, I somehow don't feel the majority would.
I have written about medical issues about myself in an effort to bring about information to others in here ... discussing signs and symptoms to be on the lookout for. My medical issues are not of the severe or disabling type though and so I'm open about them.
However, I still do not list them in my profile.
|
| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:38:34 PM | Makes sense, Cotter, but I think I put info about my diabetes in my profile...
Oh well, maybe the Emails will slow down a bit...

... how many people do you think would be trying to contact them for a meeting?
Well that is true, and it doesn't really matter to me. I didn't write on my profile, but of course I don't have a lot of medical problems. I thought I would bare it all, seeing I don't get contacts much anyway,
|
| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:40:33 PM | LOL Bob, you think maybe they skipped over that diabetes thing in your profile, or maybe their bi-focals weren't working good?? | |
|
| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:44:46 PM | Being a nurse ... I have a little more understanding of these things when that information is disclosed and perhaps that's why I have no real problem discussing things openly on the threads. But I can well imagine that some would feel very threatened about that kind of disclosure openly.
Unbelievably, there are (for example) a lot of men who actually shy away from women who have had a hysterectomy ... for them she is no longer a "complete" woman. Actually, I've never felt better in my life since having mine. I use hormone replacement therapy as my ovaries are also gone and have a high desire for sex.
So any guy who would avoid me because of that has no idea what he might be missing out on!
|
| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:48:55 PM | I dunno, AW..I think it is within the first couple of items in the 96 page document... | |
|
| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:53:15 PM | And now that I have disclosed all that information about me ... I'm going to hurry up and make 24 more posts so that it just sort of disappears from public record .... | |

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:53:52 PM | Cotter, I don't think I would shy away from a physical handicap..Well, not one that didn't prevent the lady from being active, outdoors and indoors..
I dated a gal who lost both breasts to cancer..We are still friends..We did not engage in sexual things, but went skinny dipping a couple of times..
Had our personalites meshed, and the chemistry been there, we would have been a couple.
I certainly would not be put off by amputation and/or scars..Lord knows I have enough scars, and, am minus the tip of my "Here's Yours" finger of my left hand.

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:54:05 PM | cotter, I am in the health care field working with the elderly as a med-tech/supervisor, so I see a lot of this too. I felt good after my hysterectomy too, but I understand what you are saying. After my embolism they took away my hormones but it hasn't affected my sex desire either. 99% of that starts in the brain!! | |

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 5:59:31 PM | Well ... as you can see ... so far we are the only three postings but over 60 have come and taken a peak at the thread.
Does that tell you anything?

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 6:05:12 PM | I guess I will have to revise my profile..I am quite deaf, I wore two hearing aids until I smashed up the scooter, and haven't yet replaced the one that got broken..
Now, my Emails should be manageable..

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 6:05:20 PM | | Hey guys, I have put some of the things in my profile in a sly way, hasn't stoped the e-mails, really more than I can keep up with. Had not put all in though like the cataracts, takes me a while to get replys written. Other than that Kidney stones 20 some years ago (no surgery) never passed them either. | |
|
| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 6:11:55 PM | How do you tell how many people have looked at a thread? I feel pretty lucky. Other than having my children I've never been in the hospital. Feel great, actually never felt better. Pretty sure I've looked better, but then, that's probably another thread. | |

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 6:17:31 PM | My health is excellent right now. Although I had a liver transplant in 2004 and almost died 3 times after contracting hepatitis c from a blood transfusion in 1982. I do take anti-rejection medication every day forever and the only thing I'm not allowed to do is drink due to an interference with the medication. Other than that, I'm good to go ... maybe even on a date sometime..... One thing I will say, after having gone through all that, it certainly makes you appreciate seeing the sunrise in the morning and changes your outlook on life in general. You learn to enjoy the little things in life that everyone takes for granted..... | |

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 6:22:55 PM | I've worn glasses since I was a little kid, but about a year ago I noticed that middle-age phenom of my arms suddenly being too short, and had to get the dreaded bifocals so I could read without standing the book up on the table and taking two steps back.
I've also become a human barometer - I can tell that it's going to rain because my hands and one shoulder ache and sometimes I get a sinus headache. It's uncanny how accurate it is.
Other than that, nothing major yet. I'm sure the list will grow, but that's life.

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 6:29:34 PM | Hi Dawn,
They make bifocal contacts..I only have sight in my right eye, but I have a bifocal contact, and it works just great..No line, you just move your eye and print is readable..
Takes a week or two to adjust, then the brain does it automatically..
Oops...Just lost more Email..

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/5/2006 6:32:01 PM | @five_marie ...
How do you tell how many people have looked at a thread? Up at the top of "Forums where five_marie last posted" page ...
... you will see a bar that displays a ... *"Thread" title, then you'll see where it says *"Started By", then it shows how many *"Replies" have been made to the thread, then you will see a number that represents the number of *"Views" that have been made to the thread (which tells you how many times a thread has been visited), then of course, the *"Last Post" to the thread which tells who posted it and what time the post was made.
OT: Personally ... I have relatively little going on with me compared to a lot of people.
As I said, *I use the hormone replacement therapy because of the total hysterectomy over 20 years ago. *Then while I was in nursing school (early 1997), I thought I was going to lose my mind for lack of ability to focus, short-term memory loss, horrible hot flashes at night only, weight gain ... and discovered that my Thyroid was off, so I take a low dose of Synthroid for that. *A few years ago, I complained to the doctor about having years of mild indigestion and she put me on Aciphex and now I can gladly say I no longer have that problem, so I think it's safe to assume that I suffer from a mild case of G.E.R.D. (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease).
For me it's nothing for any man to get uptight about, but who knows?

It is the attitude that dictates whether or not I get interested..
An attitude, such as yours, interests me..
Were I to meet someone with an atitude like this, she could be the perfect lady for me..
Keep on a truckin, lovely lady
