i installed it today, i know the beta's were buggy but man this os is soooooooo sweet. i didn't have to do a thing, it even installed all the drivers by itself. the eye candy is superb and so far it's ran flawlessly. i have the vista ultimate version and it has more bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at. it should be for sale in january, do you think people will invest in it and change operating systems? it's supposed to retail at around 400 dollars for the ultimate version, down to 199 dollars for the basic version

Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2: $429

Windows Vista Business: $379

Windows Vista Home Premium: $299

Windows Vista Home Basic: $259

Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2: $259

Upgrade versions are as follows:

Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade: $299

Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 Upgrade: $259

Windows Vista Business Upgrade: $249

Windows Vista Home Premium Upgrade: $199

Windows Vista Home Basic Upgrade: $129

Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2 Upgrade: $129

This is off the globe and mail so i'm guessing these prices are fairly reliable and they are in canadian funds.

I have a copy of the beta on its way through the mail. I have already installed, played with it and then uninstalled.

Aero is very nice, but I played with it after using OSX Quartz and the many different test of XGL/AIGL/Compiz on SuSE/Ubuntu/Kanotix. I prefer XGL and have been debating going back to Ubuntu's AIGL, because its more 'stable' in the latest beta [lol, thats a oxymoron]

Its interesting how the different major OS's are 'sharing' Ideals on the eye candy.

I want one of the new Macs, either the Macbook Pro or MacPro.

In the end I will have to go back to Vista, becaues I am stuck to it the way most people are to AOL. You try to leave, but it pulls you right back [AOL, will just not let you cancel].

Thanks for the info.

The kernel is so locked down that the system has more rights then ANY user sitting at the keyboard.

God forbid any black hat figure out ho to get system rights! You'll be SOL then as you won't be able to get the proper rights to fix anything.
