Even though his stint on the bench will be short, possibly back for week 2, can the Steel curtain hold back a much improved Miami team? Batch is terrible at best... trying to figure out my picks for this week and this game is driving me nuts... I think Miami, but the game is in Pitt... any advice is appreciated...

NOONE makes it outta Pittsburgh alive!!! lol. They can still beat the dolphins with their intence defence and their in your face running game. Batch just gotta make good reads and not throw into bad coverage. Batch has to have faith in his defence, if he can stay comfortable and know when to throw the ball away instead of either getting sacked or throwing a pick....then the steelers will out do them physically. Culpepper is gonna struggle...the whole offence will probly struggle. Its probly gonna be a low scoring game, imma say 16-10 Steelers.

put your money on the fins. C pep has too many weapons to keep down for a whole game. Without Big Ben making those good decisions out there the steelers will struggle.Batch has thrown one TD in 8 games since 2003..not a great stat.

Now Pitts D is awesome and so is that running game but I think the Fins will be prepared for the run game. I mean if YOU were the d coordinator and knew Roth was down what would YOU do?

Thats right, stack the line and MAKE batch beat you.
in YOUR honest opinion is he capable of that?

Batch can't even beat himself - if you catch my drift.... I'm taking the Dolphins.... Steeler's will be a 9-7 team at best and will miss the playoffs....

Being week one, and Roth out, I'd go with the Fins.

Dolphins 16-13....Pittsburgh's pressure will make Culpeper dump the ball off to McMichael and he will have a big game and a TD catch. Miami will struggle to run the ball. Batch will have a hard time dealing w/ Miami's pass rush as well so look for Heath Miller to catch a few balls. The difference will be a late turnover by Batch which Miami will convert into the GW FG.

Yes. It should be a close game and will probably come down to a key turnover. I think the Steelers will wear the 'fish down in the 4th quarter and win 16-9.

I'm going with my instinct and I started Culpooper this week. I hope he lights it up tonight!

I am going to eat crow I think. 1st batch looks better than I thought. 2nd Miami's secondary looks ugly. front 7 good corners and safeties=bad.

Ouch! That last interception sealed the deal for Pitt. Must say though, anytime you let a RB run for 32 yards on one play, you're in trouble. As usual, Palomalu was a force to be reckoned with and Batch held his own for the most part.

if you are a dophin fan you have to know that the o- line did good job. a big play is what beat them. and the refs hosed the steelrs at least twice. so i guess the outcome was fair.

This just goes to show you going 0-4 in the preseason doesn't predict the outcome of your season.

this morning I can't help but feel a little under the weather... I think I must be coming down with a serious case of foot in mouth disease... go Steetler's..... who thought Batch could throw 3 TD passes.... dang you Charlie.... I thought things were turning the corner when Batch fumbled at the goal line, but then it all went to the wayside for Daunte... 2INT's and no touchdowns... ouch...... Chambers looked slow.... Welke? that kid has some moves... not enough though..... time will tell... there's still lots of football to be played.... GO LION's....that's right.....

Well my post above was actually made when the Fins were WINNING 17-14. again, I am horrified at how poorly the secondary played.
Wards TD he was all alone, the 1st TD he was all alone (until the safety came over a second too late) and Millers 87 yard TD he was behind the LB's and no safeties or corners to be seen ANYWHERE.

BUT props to the Steelers they look very good, solid patient running game, lights out defense and opportunistic passing game.

It was pretty obvious to me anyway that C-pepp and the new Offensive coordinator dont have a feel for all the personell just yet. The play calling was ok but they gave up on the run too early and C-pepp was off with his timing to his recievers. Pitts D had alot to do with that but alot of the 2nd half C pepp looked "rushed" when in fact he had an extra half second to second to really make his reads and throws.

After watching last night I think Miami is going to need about 2 more games to really come together on the offensive side of the ball and on defense they need to do something FAST about the secondary!!!!!

hey tme81. Espn showed that since 1980 40 teams have went 0-4 in preseason. Only five made it to the playoffs. None winning the superbowl. If I was a fan of a team that went 0-4 in preseason I would be scared and look forward to the draft.

Congrats to the Steelers. Solid game. Miami played well but showed they have a little ways to go. Gotta close the deal when you have a lead and the ball at your opponenets 40 w/ 6 minutes left. Miami will be ok....next three games are Buffalo, Tenn., and Houston....should be favored in each and will be good games to gain some confidence.

Pittsburgh played well against the run but had trouble getting pressure at times and the picks were more a bad play by Culpeper than great defensive plays. Overall though Steeler nation should be happy. No time to relax as schedule is pretty tough.

Man i'm glad to watch a game that counted even if my Dolphins lost.]

Anybody think that could have been an AFC Championship preview?

Not a chance of a preview... the Bengals will have a lot things to say about who wins the AFC(not to mention the Colts)... but you never know...

i don't know about the rest of the season but if you are a bengal fan i know this: you say "who dey" i say "we day". and as far as going 0-4 in the preseason.you can rattle off stats and who makes the playoffs and what not but that team last night is the same one that won those playoff games on the road as a "sixth seed" .

If the Steelers scored 28 on Miami, they'll score 50 on Cinn. and Indy. To say there is no chance of a Mia/Pitt championship game is a little hasty. 0-4 in the preseason only means something if you look as bad as Washington did. Colts were 0-4 last year. I think there are 6 teams that could legitimally make the AFC champ........Pitt, Mia, Indy, Cinn, Den, NE....gonna be a good year.

50 on the Bengals... maybe the 49er's.... I'll admit their defence looked real good considering that was their 1st game... but come on.... the Fins aren't the Bengals... Daunte isn't Carson, and so on.... look for the Bengals to bring their A game all season... I'm not even a Bengals fan.... GO LION's... watch out for Sarge's boys this year... we'll win 3-4 games but we'll look darn good doing it .... Seatle's going down, just ask Peter King who picked the Lion's to win out right 24-21........... I am not that delusional I'll settle for the Lion's to cover at home........
Bronco's can eat my butt, right after New England gets done with it.... so tired of those teams........ Honalulu blue and silver w/ black accents the real deal ... one day they'll be back in the playoffs... until then we'll keep rolling the dice in the draft... Simms = NFC rookie of the year

teams that play indoors don't deserve to make the playoffs
