An Idea for our mailboxes

It could be rather benifical to people that get a lot of mail, but want to mail each person back trying to touch each thing they are asking. Time does not always allow us to do that, and opening the mail makes that mail look the same as all others, other then the name.

If one has quite a few new people writing it is hard to keep track of which new one you only partly wrote to. Making it difficult to find and go back to, if one does not delete each mail after they have replied.

It would be a nice consideration to be able to bookmark a peice of mail, that has either been read or not read.

It already does, under the read column, you have a "yellow folder" indicating not read, a "Y" if you have read it.

Umder the replied column, a "Y" if you have, and blank if you haven't.

Are we missing something here ???

Partly wrote? - would you like to clarify this?

EDIT: seems that the "quoting" feature isn't working this morning, unless you go into post edit mode and remove one of the single quotes from around the word quote, it seems to be inserting two single quotes instead ....

I'm was meaning to imply (in the haze of emailing at 5am), that a few emails which I had opened seeked a long reply, which I could not keep focused to do at that time. But since I had opened the mail the 'Y' was there and it became just another opened mail. Where as if I could have personally bookmarked it for me to look at again later (little check mark beside the mail) it would be far easier to find it to continue my reply at a more comfortable time.

Some sites have folders for your email that you can personally build. I don't think that is needed here, just a simple way to mark it for quick find.

Thank for your thoughts.

Brawny, you're off topic...lol.

then what you seek is a draft folder before sending off the entire replied message, consequently you then would need some mechanism to save this partly replied to, email.

Compose off site in your current email app and save as draft there till your ready to send off the dissertation - it's either that, or reply when you're ready to compose and send, or a more complete mail management system would be required here. I just look at what email has a blank beside it if i need to go back to it. If it doesn't require a reply, I delete it.

I wouldn't want a draft folder, it seems like a big thing when to me just a little small way to indicate that, that mail is the one I want to go back to is good enough.

I try to mail the person a small note, because they do see that I had opened the mail. The go back to the emails that I feel need a longer response after I have done all the short ones.

I'll start doing it by saving a file on my computer. But as I said just a simple red check mark or little indication that you want to go back to that mail would be enough.

If it's someone you are mailing with regularly
a) read new note
b) reply to PREVIOUS note with an acknolwedgement or go to your FAV folder and mail a note from there (as a stand alone)
c) tomorrow when you have had some sleep, return to mailbox and you will see marked as 'not replied' the ones you still need to reply to

Personally, I have people who read and dont write back for a couple of day and it's no big drama, and sometimes I dont write back for a couple of days, and its no big drama. So I just leave them until I am awake enough to respond.

Works for me.
