| Favorite Dog Breed? Posted: 9/12/2006 10:50:45 PM | | Why is it your favorite? What do you like best about them? I have a shih-tzu & it's the best dog I've ever owned. I've owned a Boston Terrier (yappy), & a Minature Poodle (high strung). Shih-tzu's are so friendly, they don't shed, they're quiet, rarely bark, easy to house train. | |

Loving, loyal, kind, intelligent, and sweet.
My family owns a Black Lab/Chow mix, and we wish we didn't more and more everyday.
Let's just say we shouldn't have left him alone as a puppy with our leather furniture *shudders*.
If I wanted to be really mean and honest I'd say "Cat"

| Favorite Dog Breed? Posted: 9/13/2006 9:20:29 PM | I had a chow/ black lab mix for 14 years. What a great dog! He was determined to go with you everywhere, that is when he wasn't wandering the mountain neighborhood we lived in. No attitude issues, training required. He was also our cat's best friend. We lost him in 8-00 and still miss him.
Now i have a rescued american bull dog. Loyal, protective, sweet, people lover, has a real personality. Next to my chow/ lab, i'd get an american bull dog puppy.

| Favorite Dog Breed? Posted: 10/28/2006 1:09:55 PM | | Bouvier Des Flandres are great dogs,my kids were raised with them. They arent a well known breed, originally used to herd cattle, they throw their hip into the cow, to herd. They were also used in World War 2,to run mail, messages, and protect the women and children, while the men were at war. They are brindle, gray, black, and now have a tan color. The head looks like a bear, they have an actual gait, like a bear. They have a great fun, personality. | |

| Favorite Dog Breed? Posted: 10/28/2006 1:15:49 PM | Canuck, sorry you had a yappy Boston terrier. I have two and they are both very quiet...well, the female is vocal when she's playing with our Pug, but aside from that, they are very quiet and the sweetest dogs. Maybe they're quiet because they are both older. The male, Andrae is 4 - 6 years old, and the female, Teddi, is 12. Both are rescues. We don't know much about Andrae, but when we got him he was so skinny you could count every rib and the bones on his butt stuck out. He didn't know how to play and was very nervous all the time. When he slept he was never really asleep, but always alert and ready to jump and run. Now, he's a little plump sausage, plays with the other two dogs and with my daughter and I, and is so relaxed and laid back...just a different dog altogether. When Teddi and Lola get a little too crazy, Andrae is the mediator and steps in to calm them down. He's amazingly soothing for them. Teddi was dumped by her owners of 10 years because she was 'too old' (I hope karma comes back on them in the exact same way). She was adopted out a few more times, but each of her new owners dumped her after about 6 months each time. She is in perfect health, plays like a puppy, and is very loving and sweet. I can't imagine what the human's problems were with her. In my opinion, some people are just too stupid and selfish to ever be the owners of any animal or to have kids. There should be some law to regulate stupidity...but alas...
To answer the question of the thread: My favorite breeds are Pug and Boston terrier. Our little Pug, Lola, is extremely sweet and loving. Her wrinkles and worried face are just the cutest things to see and she's so soft and cuddly. She's got the best personality and is very friendly. She's the ambassador of our neighborhood; never meets anyone or any animal she doesn't like. She's also the 'supervisor' of the household. She has to help with everything being done...from gardening to moving furniture...always standing by to 'assist'.
I was a confirmed dog-hater before we got Lola, but this little pup has completely changed my thinking and helped open up my heart to dogs...and she's the reason we now have the two Boston terriers.
